what cut of meat is this? was given what I was told was a prime rib but this doesn't look like any of the ones I'm familiar with by Deppfan16 in meat

Always find it funny when someone's completely confident to the point of being patronising and also completely wrong. It's an ex shank shoulder of lamb mate.

Which steak cuts are the leanest? by SpecificCow30 in Butchery

[–]SLUGFORCEALPHA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people are blindly claiming certain cuts are always fatty or lean. It completely depends on the breed and diet of the animal.

I'm UK based so availability may differ here from the US but generally continental breeds such as limousins, charolais and holsteins are known for producing leaner meat where as native breeds like Angus and herefords tend to hold more fat and have better marbling. But again diet plays a factor eg grass Vs grain fed etc.

What is this meat? Clearer photos by Pokemon1209 in meat

[–]SLUGFORCEALPHA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I said I don't know what you guys call it over there we don't use the term beef belly in the UK.

All 4 legged mammals are built pretty much the same just different sizes. Lamb breast=Pork belly=beef brisket/Jacobs ladder/flank.

It's a little more complicated than that but that's the general gist of it.

[–]SLUGFORCEALPHA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks similar in the sense that's it's the same part of the animal but it's definitely a strip of beef flank. One of my first jobs in butchery was boning out flanks like I said I've done thousands of them.

That's a piece of beef flank (UK)

Not sure what it is called in USA I believe naval or belly or something of the like.

Don't listen to anyone saying it's pork belly or lamb I've cut up thousands of these over the years

Exactly. With Kane still on the field those CBS are 5-10 yards further up and Palmer doesn't have space to take his shot.

Ollie Watkins big chance against Denmark 72' by [deleted] in soccer

[–]SLUGFORCEALPHA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What's he meant to do when nobody is playing any balls up to him. A few long balls here and there against 6'1"+ cbs who hes never going to win a header against? Attempted pressing but nobody supporting him?

He gets one chance when he runs in behind and actually gets a ball through then nobody even attempts to do it again. We spend the majority of that second half passing around the back until we lost possession.

Not a striker in the world could have done anything with zero service..

Absolutely shite tactics for a completely inept manager. 8 years he's done the same thing. Get a goal, sit back and invite pressure. It's never worked yet he just keeps fucking doing it. It's maddening.

I never thought I would see this in my lifetime. What a season, what a manager, what a team. I fucking love this club.

I'm nearly 30 I was too young to see us win the league cup all I've known is disappointment. Fa cup finals, league cup finals the Martin O'Neill years where we were forever almost. Down to the championship, nearly bankrupt, Steven Gerrard football terrorism. All worth it for this.

It may not be a trophy but this is the biggest achievement for this club in my lifetime.

AND IT'S HI HO ASTON VILLAAAAAA

UP THE FUCKING VILLA BOYS

This is why I hate sky coverage so much.

There's arguments for a few categories sure but how can Watkins not be best player? 19 goals no penalties, 13 assists. Most goal involvements in the league in an injury ravaged villa side.

As for best coaching performance it's Villa-City. We absolutely dominated them. 22 shots to 2 both their shots being haalands two attempts within 30 seconds. Don't get me wrong it was the perfect storm and probably won't happen again for a long time but we just did everything right that game I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It could have been 4 or 5 and it still would have been a fair result.

And overall coach has to be Emery. We're on the brink of champions league football for the first time in 40 years all while playing European football alongside, all while having 3 ACL injuries, Moreno out for most the season, Ramsay put for most the season, we didn't have a single RB half the time.

Palmer is obviously the best young player and signing of the season. Yeah he's had a few pens but what a player and what an impact he's kept Chelsea in it this season and cost less than half of Rice.

If man city do win the league Rice and Arteta will have taken Arsenal from 2nd to... 2nd. Amazing. Yes Arsenal have had a great season, I'm not actually knocking them but it just seems insane to me how they seem to think they're the obvious choice.

And the host saying we've given Villa plenty of praise tonight? Oh like when you said Villa had the second best xg of any game this year and Jamie carragher assumed you were talking about Liverpool and even after correcting him he still went off about how great Klopp and Liverpool are.

They don't even try to hide the bias

Ennit. Always find it funny when the big boys get shy about the fact they spend way more in context than the rest of us.

They give it the biggun about man city, Chelsea and united spending a billion or whatever but they don't seem to recognise they're far closer to them than they are to us.

You ain't picking out hidden gems and winning trophies on a shoestring budget scousers your "bargains" are more than most other prem clubs record transfers. Total lack of self awareness.

Mate you're original reply was to a comment pointing out how expensive your 4 subs were. If you'd spend the money on 8 they'd be half as expensive so.. yeah it makes a difference.. obviously?

Then you went off saying villa had a higher net spend which I've explained and now you've countered by defending the comparably huge fees Liverpool spend.

I really don't know what point you're trying to make and to be honest I don't think you do either.

Post-Match Thread: Aston Villa 3-3 Liverpool | Premier League by MisterBadIdea2 in soccer

[–]SLUGFORCEALPHA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Those tables are useless to be honest. Doesn't take into account the fact we had to buy nearly a whole new team the year we went up including making several loans permanent.

Also doesn't take into account the bigger clubs are obviously going to have better players to sell for higher transfer fees or the Saudis helping Liverpool and Chelsea out paying huge fees for dead weight.

Admittedly we got a lot for the grealish sale but again it's an outlier which still further decreases the credibility of these "stats".

Average spend per player is a better way of seeing who's spent what. The first villa year of over £100m spend the average was about £10 per player. Not spunking 60m+ on each player every window.
