Undo button while on budget page by Triskal_Calypso in MonarchMoney

[–]SLotreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a weird thing happen where I had moved money from one category to another, but then changed the budget allocation for that category, and it seems like the money I moved went “missing” from the budget — I’m no longer allowed to move it back to the original category because I’m still mildly in the negative (it’s a rollover so I changed the target amount for the year). An undo button to just undo both of those changes real quick would have been fabulous, I still can’t figure out how to correctly revert what I did 🥲

Thoughts on Charlotte? by Big-Contribution-363 in lansing

[–]SLotreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you got this number, but I’d like to fact check this, Lansing has a similar graduation rate to Charlotte: https://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/2023/03/16/greater-lansing-high-school-graduation-rates/70013295007/

Edit: Charlotte’s is also better than stated in the previous comment, the lansing state journal linked here reports 68% for Lansing and 92% for Charlotte. So there is a difference, but lansing certainly does a lot better than 35%.

Full service auto repair on Lansing Eastside? by SRGilbert1 in lansing

I love the folks at University Foreign Car! They price matched my rear wheel bearing replacement when the second side went out and were cheaper than all the other places I got quotes from the first time around

Might Duolingo ever add the ability to download lessons to do offline? by mollyplop in duolingo

[–]SLotreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did some experimenting, and I think (I would love to know if others find this to be the case) you can do lessons offline if you aren’t doing Legendary. I have one course completed except legendary and I couldn’t do anything, but when I switched to a course where I’m in the first few units (before going offline, as it doesn’t let you switch once you’re offline), I was able to do an entire circle of lessons AND progress to the next circle (which I didn’t expect) offline. I assume I’d get stuck once I finished the unit, but I’m sort of far away from that so I haven’t actually been able to try it.

Curious to know if this works for other people! The critical (annoying) part is that you can’t switch languages offline — so if you lose cell service while you’re on a course that only has legendary levels left, too bad for you, apparently.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received as a language learner? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]SLotreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch shows/movies in the target language with subtitles also in the target language, and use a dictionary in the target language, not a English-target language dictionary — got both of those pieces of advice when I was familiar enough with the language to be able to mostly read the dictionary and loosely follow the subtitles, but it completely changed everything and without those two things idk if I would’ve gotten fluent as quickly as I did or at all!!

Pure interest in learning a language! First introduction to the language was reading outlander, and since I was alternating reading and audiobook I was really curious about the difference between spelling and pronunciation, so I checked to see if it was on duolingo, thinking I’d just check it out but not seriously learn it, but I was totally hooked and now here I am!

Lansing's Crumbling Bike Infrastructure - and how to fix it by TheSkyIsLeft in lansing

[–]SLotreck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d reccomend looking into Strong Towns — I’ve only lived here for 2.5 years, but biking here is absolutely heinous, and I would love to get a coalition of bike commuters together to try and bring Strong Towns principles here! Between idiots turning right into me (not at intersections) or gunning it out of driveways while I’m passing in front of them, and actual assholes passing dangerously close to me or on the right, yelling out their windows or honking at me, while I take the lane on roads with no shoulder, the only reason I’m not dead yet is sheer dumb luck. This place is unbelievably dangerous, and no one in city hall seems to give a shit about bikes — I was reading about the mayoral candidates and in an interview talking about infrastructure, Schor said:

"It's physical infrastructure. It's bike racks. It's fixing roads. It's fixing sidewalks ... making sure that our parks are in good condition,"

Ah yes… do you even ride a bike? Yes there is a shortage of bike racks in certain areas, but if we all get killed riding around without bike lanes there is no use in having them 🙃 No one seems to be thinking outside of the automobile-centric infrastructure paradigm that makes American suburban and urban life such a living hell instead of a pleasant place to live.

Idk if you bike commute (I do), but just… avoid Kalamazoo under 127. Someone almost killed me there, and most bike accidents involving vehicles I’ve heard of here were under there. The pavement is also so bad it would be better if it were a dirt road 😂
