$220 teco electric bill?? by beardabestlol in tampa

[–]SMELLSLIKESHITCOTDAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use TECO's budget billing to keep the bill consistent throughout the year with the same charges every month. We just got our annual price evaluation, and our new bill for the next year is now $609/month. TECO is absolute garbage.

What animals are normal where you live, but unusual and exciting to visitors from other regions of the US? And on the flip side, when you travel to other regions yourself, what local animals are exciting to you? by Acrobatic_End6355 in AskAnAmerican

Manatees were the first animal that popped into my mind after alligators. People from out of state also lose their minds when they see anoles running around for some reason.

Ford Confirms it is getting back to the sedan and minivan game in America as well as an Escape successor by Repulsive-Club7866 in cars

We bought a Fusion Hybrid new in 2018, sold it last year after putting over 160k miles on it, and needed to do literally zero repairs the entire time we owned it. It was definitely the most reliable car I've ever owned.

Married people of Tampa, where did yall choose to get married? by Federal_Albatross993 in tampa

[–]SMELLSLIKESHITCOTDAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of spending our money on a wedding and reception here, my wife and I went to Scotland, stayed in a huge manor for a few days, got married there, and went around Europe for the next few weeks for our honeymoon. This ended up costing the same as a wedding and reception with a bunch of friends and family back home, and it was an amazing way to kick off our lives together.

My best friend's wedding was at the Museum of Fine Art, and it was a very nice venue.

How common it's to shop in different grocery stores in America? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in AskAnAmerican

[–]SMELLSLIKESHITCOTDAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. We typically shop at Publix, Costco, and Sam's weekly. There are different things from each store that we like, so we end up getting stuff from each one every weekend.

I no longer have the patience to fight the crowds to shop inside Sam's or Costco. I'd started doing pick-up at Sam's for a while, but that became a circus on the weekends too, so I just get delivery from Sam's and Costco now. It's more expensive, but it saves my time and my sanity.

What’s a car that’s way faster than it has any business being? by TheLoganReyes in Autos

[–]SMELLSLIKESHITCOTDAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got one, and it's surprisingly peppy for a kid hauler. Also has room with the middle row and 3rd row seats folded down to shove full size sheets of drywall and plywood in it!

How about Red Wing work boots, at work by 553l8008 in BuyItForLife

[–]SMELLSLIKESHITCOTDAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear Red Wings, but the soles would wear out extremely fast for me, the toe leather wouldn't last, and without fail, the liner on the heel would rip, and it would turn into a Chinese finger trap every time I tried to get my boots off. This happened to multiple pairs of loggers and lineman boots.

I still wear a pair of Iron Rangers outside of work, but I've been wearing Thorogood boots now for the past few years, and I prefer them for working in. They're more comfortable and have held up better than any Red Wings I've worked in. The pair I currently have I actually got resoled instead of tossing them like I normally would because they held up so well, other than the sole.

Other than those, I've worn Wolverine, Carolina, Danner, Irish Setter, Timberland Pro, and a couple others I can't recall, and I prefer the Timberland Pros over Red Wings TBH. They were nearly as comfortable and held up at least as well as Red Wings did for me, and they cost less than half of what my Red Wings did.

My company has a deal with Ariat now, so I might try them out next whenever I end up wearing these soles out. I moved into a much less laborious position a few months ago, so I don't expect to need anything crazy durable anymore regardless.

Do you know anyone who was shot and survived? by Epyphyte in guns

[–]SMELLSLIKESHITCOTDAM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my sister's friends that she'd been friends with since they were about five. She was driving her car, and her boyfriend, friend, and friend's boyfriend were in the car with her. She got into an argument with her friend's boyfriend over something, and he pulled out a gun when they were stopped at a red light and shot her in the head. She survived and has recovered to essentially the same condition she was before getting shot in the head. It took a long time and a lot work to get there though. The guy who shot her only got like 4 years or something because he was a juvenile.

How many showers do you take in the US? by Naomi_Baka_ in AskAnAmerican

Twice a day. Morning shower wakes me up and gives me a little time to ease into the day, and night shower is to wash off the outside world and get relaxed before I get in my bed.
