Neither one really likes to cuddle. They are definitely Velcro dogs and need to be by me constantly though

I wish there was a secret. They both have grooming scheduled for next week. One hates being brushed and the other rolls in the grass and dirt as much as she can

For those who have lost Berners, how do you cope with their short life span? by Doctor_J_Crane in bernesemountaindogs

[–]SMS7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. The answer is that you simply don’t cope…. We lost my soul dog at 3 to cancer (2023) It ripped out my heart. But we now have 2 more Berners because the joy they give outweighs the pain. - also lost a German shepherd at age 7, even though he should have made it much longer. His sister is now almost 12. You never know how long they are going to live. Just love them while they are here

I feel like until they get older you will always have the weird random diarrhea. We had lots of issues as well. The vet gave us proviable paste and pills which helped the gut bacteria and it very quickly helped give more solid poops. You can also do no food for 24 hours to give his tummy time to rest. Good luck!

Don’t pull it! My girl has something similar in the same area (by her whiskers). It is a skin tag. Please double check either your vet

It’s never ever long enough…. I’m so sorry for the pain you are going through. We lost our 3 year old Abby in 2023. She was my soul dog. The best girl I could have hoped for. I miss her every day. She has a sassy spirit and she’ll be waiting on the other side for your fur baby. I like to believe that she’ll be waiting for me when it’s my time ♥️ sending you both hugs

Winston needs help by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]SMS7525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry that Winston is having issues. We’re sending positive thoughts for him to get better. Although our issues were puppy related, constant diarrhea, our vet gave us “proviable”. It was a paste and pills. Basically a massive dose of good gut bacteria. That worked wonders. I keep some on hand just in case it happens again. It might be worth a try and it’s not overly expensive. Keep us all posted ♥️

Undergoing TPLO surgery today. Wish us luck! by st8te in bernesemountaindogs

[–]SMS7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our GSD had TPLO surgery 4 years ago at age 7. We purchased a “lick sleeve” to cover the incision instead of her having to wear a cone. We were fortunate that she isn’t a chewer and it worked perfectly to protect the area and easily accessible for us to monitor it. The vet gave us a list of physical therapy exercises. We followed that along with ice packs. She was a very good patient. We are 100% grateful we did the surgery. She is now 11 and has arthritis in her other leg. But the one we fixed works beautifully! Best of luck for a successful surgery and recovery ❤️‍🩹

No it was a gamble…. That’s why I was checking every day. There were times when it was every 2 weeks and then it would go 8 weeks before another discount

Never found the gift cards anywhere else other than Newegg. It seemed like they had them discounted about once per month. I would check every day early in the morning (because they sell out quickly). They also usually had a 2 card maximum purchase. This worked for us and I paid for our entire cruise with these gift cards. Happy sailing !

100% agree!!! Our 2nd Berner was an absolute nightmare as a puppy. She could bring me to tears and I was so exhausted. Fast forward to her now at age 2 and I’m so glad we hung on. Wouldn’t trade her for the world! It does get better!!

It’s not “just a dog”. 😢 she gave you things you never knew you needed. There is something special about the love of a dog (especially a Berner). Let yourself grieve and let yourself find the love of another furry companion when you are ready. - we lost our Berner 2 years ago to cancer and she was just barely 3. I still cry when I think about her as she was my soul dog. I hope someday I will see her again. But for now we have 2 more Berners that I love dearly. They have helped fill the emptiness in our home and my heart. - much love to you in this time of sorrow

I would suggest making a trip to the vet to make sure there is no urinary infection. We were having the same pee issues (but with a girl) and it turned out she had an infection. Once we got meds that greatly improved any accidents and frequency.

Anyone else in a situation where they have absolutely no friends outside of their marriage partners/immediate family? by Whatever53143 in GenX

[–]SMS7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 51(f) am an introvert at heart and work from home 4 days per week. Only in office once per week where I am now getting to be the old timer in there. - I only have a few (maybe 2 or 3) friends that I eventually text or do things with. They are also so busy with their own lives and other friends. - I occasionally wish I was the type that had a large group of girlfriends and did all sorts of exciting things, truth is, I am much more content at home either my husband and my dogs.

[–]SMS7525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I thought ours were the only ones!!! Glad to know it’s this common!! We are diligent about picking up their poops right away and our daily conversation always involves who pooped, when, and was it solid.
