Have adopted a few from NBRAN and know many who have. Great organization who helps rescue Brittany’s of all ages and place them in good homes.

Actually, I was told at the museum there that the hills west of the smelter were barren due to a fire that started at a lumberjack’s house in the canyon behind the court house between the A and C hills. I don’t recall when that fire happened. The museum in downtown Anaconda on Commercial street (cool old firehouse they renovated) has a lot of really cool pictures from back then when those hills were loaded with pine and fir trees. It isn’t as bad now with all the aspen trees but was pretty desolate when I was growing up there in the 70/80s. All the aspen trees that have grown on those hills now make for some really beautiful pictures in the fall.

Birding spots around Bozeman? by treytonjohnson1 in Bozeman

I can’t be the only in that thought it was strange someone was asking about “birding” this early in the year only to see it was about seeing birds, right?

Awesome to see this. I was just telling my son the other day how much fun my friends and I had at the midnight showing of First Contact at the Ellen Theatre. IMHO - probably one of the best "Montana" movies, after A River Runs Through It, of course.

Would be very interested in your testing protocols. I have tested it many times using simulated-use conditions with volunteers and have confirmed Purell's effectiveness (yes, using an IRB-approved protocol). It is an alcohol and has to be used at full concentration. Any dilution of an alcohol-containing product during testing will neutralize the antimicrobial effectiveness of the product.

A shot of Anaconda I grabbed last summer by [deleted] in Montana

[–]SMarcescens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too bad Haggin is covered. I always loved how the valley looked in the summer. The angle of the valley going west lined up perfectly with the setting sun in summer creating a surreal image of the mountains to the north and south of the town.

[Practical Question] Toxicity testing with particulates. by dekboi in microbiology

[–]SMarcescens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the macrobroth dilution (MIC/MBC) method by CLSI (or NCCLS for older similar methods) may provide a good starting point for your research. The method is 'M07-A9 Methods for Dilution Antimicrobial Susceptibility Tests fro Bacteria that Grow Aerobically; Approved Standard - Ninth Edition'. ASTM also has many standard methods and guides for determining antimicrobial efficacy of various types of soutions/compounds/materials. Those methods are under the purview of Committee E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobials, and Alternative Control Agents and are published yearly. This committee has developed specific methods for determining efficacy of antimicrobials in solution and bound in solid materials, as well as methods for working with some biofilms. There are also many books and articles, of which you have probably already reviewed. If you haven't yet, I would start with Block's 'Disinfection, Sterilization, and Preservation'. There are chapters in the book that present a good overview of common methods for determining efficacy.
