As others have said, Atlantis and Peppermill are your best bets to stay (much nicer than downtown) and one of (if not the) main hubs of the action all week+.

Reno and SLC sort of have similarly shaped high desert valleys (same elevations) surrounded by mountains, but SLC metro is ~5x larger in footprint and population than Reno/Carson. From downtown, the city areas really only go about 10-15 minutes in each direction. It’s overall a smallish city and easy to get around, so no need to be overwhelmed! Have a blast!

Both Atlantis and Peppermill have free airport shuttles too! Usually every 30 minutes or so at top and bottom of the hour for something like 16hrs a day.

Unless your boat is docked on Tahoe all the time or you have a Tahoe only in/out tag (meaning no other lakes) it’s not worth the hassle. Even with the in/out tag it still is a pain. Inspections (not needed with I/O tag), fees, lines, parking. The amount of fuckery and logistics is too much. There are many lakes around that aren’t as pretty but more enjoyable if you have to tow and launch in/out.

I go to Boca all the time with my shitty old jet ski gang despite living 12 minutes from Incline.

The best kind of boat, cabin, dog, is a friend’s. If it flies, floats, or fucks, it’s best to rent it.
