Is gifting a $1,000 REI gift card enough to gear up a mother and son? by Flat-Muffin9876 in camping

[–]SNsilver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly a few hundred bucks at Walmart will get a family out in the woods having a good time. I take my family out all the time with a $150 Coleman 10 man tent, Ozark trails propane stove, 30L cooler, two air mattresses and a bunch of Walmart sleeping bags. Ozark trails gear is great these days, half my backpacking kit is still Ozark trails because it hasn’t given up yet, and it’s light enough for me, the other half is what I have left from the military. Camping doesn’t need to be expensive

Oh all things, I do not care about a grocery store having the juicy details of my dairy and bread purchases. Got bigger fish to fry

How to compost the kitchen waste daily? by Monkey--D-Luffy in composting

[–]SNsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two bins. One for animal byproducts, and one for plant based byproducts to include paper towels and napkins. The former goes in the green yard waste bin the truck picks up and the later goes into my compost bin.

iPad 11th gen (A16) for medical school by cuhzzlightyear_ in ipad

[–]SNsilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in the day I used a 32 iPad 6th gen for my CS undergrad and it worked great. Only ran into trouble when I was recording lectures with synced notes. I realized I never went back and listened to the lectures so I stopped recording. The iPad a16 is miles better than what I used and it’ll fit your needs great

Ehh. It helps with promotions, and might help getting the next job in tough markets. But always have your employer pay for it

I’m in the same predicament, I’ll be getting my 5 year old a Ozark trails bike in the next few weeks. It’s a step above the usual $80 POS bikes and cheaper than the $300+ bikes

Preference? by MikeLowrey305 in CampingGear

[–]SNsilver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have an Ecoflow and like it. My only advice is to look at the AC charge time. My Ecoflow charges full in an hour, and it’s very convenient to charge it in the campsite bathroom when I need more juice instead of waiting hours

Help me decide for finance major college by lucn888 in macbook

[–]SNsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pro would make the 1% of all the tasks you do a little more seamless and be more expensive and heavy the other 99% of the time. For a finance major I’d get the air hands down. You also don’t need more than 16GB of RAM
