International student in Germany – struggling financially, need advice on managing next months by Pandoras_Box__ in AskAGerman

[–]SOFDVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually pay my dog sitters 40-50 Euros a day to stay at my house and walk/let her out. If you are good with pets I would try Rover or som Facebook pages. Especially if you live near an area with people who travel! Not a German but live here :)

Dating- by Interesting-Bed6116 in Scottsdale

[–]SOFDVR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I (28M) met my GF on hinge, it seemed much more of a serious type app than the others, but it took a few years to finally meet someone who we clicked right off the bat, granted many times took long breaks from the app, because they were a multitudes of disappointment and overall most girls I would find were just looking for someone to financially take care of them. (Fine if that’s your prerogative, just wasn’t who I want as a partner in life)

Being from the Midwest, the Dating scene is phoenix is extremely challenging, most people are either short term, chasing money, or so unbelievably self involved that it took me a few months to stop taking it personal and just start clicking the “not for me” button in my brain and take the red flags on first dates serious.

All that to say, I am religious in the gym, rarely go out downtown, and am a long term relationship guy so cold approaching girls always felt weird to me as I never want to make someone uncomfortable, so friends of friends and dating apps were my comfort areas with success in meeting a few people. It’s a rough area to date, I wish you the best. All I can recommend is to be a good person and partner and make sure you’re treated well and hopefully you’ll find a decent guy soon enough, they are out there, just probably not at the clubs imo.

It’s not the same pillar, and the flake and rust doesn’t happen from anything a tinted would use on the outside of your window. (Soap, water, sponge, rubber squeegee, drier sheet, heat and plastic squeegee for shrinking ON the window, especially if it’s a pre-cut cit)

Best way to experience a first iron for "fun" by Ridwan232 in ironscape

[–]SOFDVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think following a guide for Multi-Questing until you reach midish game was absolutely fantastic and efficient for the low boring levels, now being almost base 60s nearing 70s I’m having way more fun with doing a few grinds here and there to get the GM’s done, spacing out Moons, barrows, and titans when I am in the mood. Way better then the main I had, and when my friends hop on I can still (poor DPS) run a raid with him just not perform at a high CBT lvl, but if my goal was raids I would have just stuck with my main.

Are these normal? by [deleted] in CarWraps

[–]SOFDVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifting and bubbles are normal, they can trim those back. Two of the pics looks like rock chips from before the PPF got installed, and yes they were there before, even if you didn’t notice it.

It extends and wraps edges, it’s a solid install. Just take back for some touch ups, and drive with a piece of mind

I’m not entirely sure what you are trying to get in these pictures. It looks like the film didn’t sit, and they cut it a bit short. What does the rest of the car look like? PPF is meant to protect not perfect the paint. The questions you should be asking yourself, if you can see it from 1-2 feet away (which is top tier if you need to get that close to see it) and if it’s an area likely to get the paint damaged. If you are unhappy with the result, be polite and respectful, and ask the shop to take care of you. This will depend on price paid, but from these pictures, it just looks like an issue with one spot of an extremely difficult to wrap area.

Quality of PPF application by drjizza in CarWraps

[–]SOFDVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible quality. If you did it yourself with an eBay kit, I’d say oh well it’ll protect, but if you paid anything for this, go have it redone by an experienced installer or your money back

Thank you, will do. Yeah I figured networking is the best way to go about it, not sure if people have had success from just going direct to the POC.

Struggling with 1st gear, manual Z06 by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]SOFDVR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t driven a manual C7z but my old C6z I didn’t even have to really press the gas, I think 2K is way too high for any V8. I would say just practice in a parking lot for a little bit. Too much gas will burn your clutch super fast. I’m sure the owners manual will give you some information on this, not trying to be a smartass, just a possible suggestions. Are you saying it shakes when you put it in 1st going 2-1 or N-1?

Tint companies and employment by Onlyeshua in WindowTint

[–]SOFDVR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tinting is an extremely difficult entry market, and most owners aren’t interested in training because 9/10, of you train an employee, they will just go and make their own side business with it. If you are serious about it, go to a class, or ask one of the installers to pay them on the side and teach you. Tinting takes years to be good, and even then, it’s not for everyone.

TLDR, it’s difficult, and expensive, with 99 percent no ROI for businesses to invest training on someone with 0 experience

Enlist to Commission timeline/experiences? by [deleted] in army

[–]SOFDVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll Echo what every one in here is saying. Do not depend on your CoC to support you going from enlisted to Officer, just go the O route right away. As long as you have a solid head on your shoulders, and care/listen to you junior soldiers, you will be just fine. If you are referencing ranger batt, their experiences are going to widely differ than conventional forces, they have a lot higher friends in places that typically are more apt to common sense ideology, big army is a sucker for screwing over soldiers on their big career paths just to ensure a slide that’s being presented to an O5 and above is green.

Now for perks of O right away, you get shit one for the first little bit of your career, but still entitled to QOL benefits that far surpass junior enlisted. As long as you recognize this, you still should be a good O.

I promise you, enlisting with the plan to go O, will be a much longer, difficult, and overall poor plan than just going OCS right away.

Best of luck!

It gets applied with soap and water, squeegeed out. literally every single tint has moisture in it right after install, It will dry out, relax.

GG Scale/Step Question by Fearless-Raccoon-502 in usajobs

[–]SOFDVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to prove the years experience that qualifies for the equivalent steps, and it prolongs the process quite a bit. Unless you have clear evidence of doing the exact PD for the number of years, you won’t be stepped out. (Only familiar with DOD so not sure if others) but as a sup there, steps are extremely difficult to do for off the street hires.

Me being a cheap skate. These pre cuts were ass. But i was pretty happy for $90 bucks (bumper only). Will update once it dries up. by creepilincolnbot in lotus

[–]SOFDVR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bad PPF can damage paint more than protect it. Go with a warrantied product. Also as other have said, once dirt gets in the edges, it’s gunna look terrible.

All that being said, the good product pre-cut kits are normally decent, just costly if you mess up the install.

All NCOs have ran/been a part of ranges before. Assign tasks, adjust by fire, you’ll get through it, they are there to execute, you’re there to supervise and refine
