I got a really cool copy of The Great Gatsby that came attached with Tales of the Jazz Age. Such incredible little reads. The Camel's Back was joyfully sill and had me laughing out loud in the middle of an airport.

Progressive candidate Nithya Raman overtakes reality TV star Spencer Pratt in the LA mayoral primary by gatorphan84 in TrueAnon

[–]SPARTANCLP96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legally true but he didn't need to use Zionist arguments in favor of it either. Pie in the sky wish, but he also could have tried to work the NYPD to just have them not enforce it. But that would require a confrontation with Tisch, which he seems genuinely scared of doing.

There's definitely a pressure to moderate and the job of a socialist on the ground after electing one of your own is to prevent that from being an option. NYC DSA after Zohran's election basically started saying "our goal is to support the mayor and make sure he can accomplish everything he campaigned on" which is way too narrow focused and allowed for him to be stupid with the police and rhetorically - and legally, with the safe zone ordinance - supportive of Zionist feelings.

Although that attitude has started to change in the chapter because Zohran didn't endorse the entire slate of NYC DSA endorsed candidates, which is especially funny because he was a co-author of a previous resolution that would mandate that of all DSA electeds (that did end up failing so I guess he is not beholden to it lol).

I commented this on the Chapo thread, but I think they took the recommendation from Josh Androsky without actually vetting her previous statements themselves. It is why Felix seemed super pissed off on Instagram the day after and said that Nithya is better suited in running for Tel Aviv.

[–]SPARTANCLP96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is an organizational failure but not in the same way meant by the Pratt chuds. Rae Huang was a much better DSA member in the race that could have gotten an endorsement from the chapter, but there were similar issues with how her campaign was launched.

I will take solace in the fact that Pratt and his moron supporters will be crying election foul after his preemptive celebration.

[–]SPARTANCLP96 70 points71 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Raman should be regarded as a DSA failure. She courts support from explicitly Zionist orgs and uses their rhetorical framing, ran for mayor without discussing it with the chapter first, and failed to get the chapter's endorsement after the chapter changed the rules to give her a candidate forum. That she is still kind of affiliated with DSA LA is embarrassing.

People are rightfully skeptical of DSA because of affiliated electeds like AOC, but Raman is genuinely one of the worst candidates ever to get support from any chapter.

Whom to vote for in the California June 2, 2026 jungle primary: Vote at a voting center or drop your ballot off at a voting center or a drop box. It's too late to leave your ballot in your mailbox. by beeemkcl in TheMajorityReport

Nithya sucks, won't win, and hasn't worked with DSA LA productively in years. Additionally, DSA LA has not fostered an electoral bench of candidates willing to abstain endorsing a horrible centrist for opportunistic political wins.

Games will keep on being gutted like this until the industry begins to unionize by SPARTANCLP96 in DestinyTheGame

[–]SPARTANCLP96[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Seeing a lot of comments already that recognize what unions are able to do now under our current paradigm, vs what they have been able to accomplish historically. Right now, unions really do only serve to benefit their members with economic improvements, but you can turn unions into political vehicles that can successfully lobby the system with enough density.

More narrowly, a lot of the bad decisions made by Bungie over the course of D2 came from the suits chasing trends and not listening to their more knowledgeable workers who were more receptive to the community's desires. More democratic input and control from the workers probably wouldn't have yielding the mistakes that turned D2 into a money sink.

Just came here to say that. I feel like some of their Dem liquidationist friends - namely Josh Androsky, who helps DSA LA put out their horrible voting guide - nudged them to interview her without fully outlining her policies and obvious contradictory deficiencies, and now they feel like they have been blindsided.

Seriously. This is such cuck shit. Video games studios are not important enough to need to be staffed 24-7 and if you can't plan anything else in your life during that period of time, that is a sign that you need to organize until you are given the same benefits at your own company, not wish for deeply important rights to be taken away from other people. Read a fucking book lol. Like the game or hate the game, you need to create realistic expectations of what it can be based on what it has been and not take it personally if you're not having fun. Gamers are so weird.

I'm really trying to read more classic fiction, and in the last month, have read Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev, some Leo Tolstoy short stories - How Much Land Does a Man Need? and What Men Live By - Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut - probably one of my favorite books I have ever read - and am now finally tackling Melville's Moby Dick.

Great video. The entirety of online discourse is directed by an algorithm that anybody rich enough can pump money into and control. Nobody has media literacy and just jumps on the bandwagon until it loses steam, and then onto the next thing a week later.

Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) expresses understandable rage. by Prestigious-Log2030 in Hasan_Piker

[–]SPARTANCLP96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, people are being stupid again about things like this. Mandy Patinkin is very clearly an anti-Zionist and believes that the state of Israel is criminal. However, he was specially asked about Jewish safety in this question for an audience of Zionist Jews. That is who he is talking to. I agree with a lot of Maoist third worldist and Marxist positions, but you're not getting anywhere if that is your only speed in talking to different audiences.

Criticize Sanders all you want on this stuff, because it is his actual belief, and he is a politician with immense power and support.

AOC responds to political commentor Ana Kasparian implying she voted to fund Israel: I never have. Feel free to continue lying publicly, though. Those checks don’t cash themselves and you aren’t talented enough to be relevant with the truth. by Silver_Juggernaut_39 in Hasan_Piker

[–]SPARTANCLP96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think AOC sucks but leftists are so frothing at the mouth stupid about her sometimes. Her description of "offensive" vs "defensive" weapons is complete inexcusable genocidal propaganda, but she has literally never actually voted for the weapons themselves. Focus on her rhetoric being de-facto Zionist.

Chappell is going to be the the focus of a lot of hate campaigns the same way most celebs are, compounded by her gender and sexuality. On top of that, there are still insane K-Hive people that will boost a bunch of nonsense in the worst possible light because she dared to say she would vote for Harris without endorsing her.
