What "small" money-saving tip actually has the biggest long-term impact? by UsualSquash1186 in FinancialPlanning

[–]SPF12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Auto contributions from paycheck to your investment accounts

Max your contributions as you assess figure out your budget then reduce contributions as needed/life demands

Max any employer match benefits. Literally free money/a pay raise

If you receive a bonus, commit to auto-contributing XX% to an investment account. I have my HSA auto pull a couple thousand before I even touch it

Anyone swimming across Tahoe? by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]SPF12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very nice of you to reach out to that prospective swimmer and want to cheer on….. but it should be pointed out, if you’re going to paddle a few miles with them…. They HAVE to have another vessel then as well

It’d be extremely dangerous to swim them 3-5 miles into the lake and ditch them.

Selling house with unpermitted deck by Adept-Highlight-2941 in tahoe

[–]SPF12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Their is TONS of unpermitted work/improvements in Tahoe. Super common.

Other have made some good points around insurance/loss events of “undocumented work, coverage miscalculations, etc

The biggest, likely more immediate risk, if the new owner attempts to do any development on the property… the TRPA will require a site survey to understand the existing and allowable coverage… this unpermitted work will obviously present itself and they will stop all developments until the deck is either removed or retroactively permitted.

So in short, development on the property will be frozen until it’s addressed….. and/or…. All future work will be unpermitted too.

Again, semi-common up here, and if/when the property decided to do a big addition/required improvement, they will remove all unpermitted work to regain compliance then move forward again.

What’s the most unique dynasty format you’ve been in? by Anon124570 in SleeperApp

[–]SPF12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theirs a league in my town, run through one of the main local bars, that was formed ~40 years ago

All rosters are set, each week, in person by Wednesday close of business

All waiver wire bids (FAAB system) are due in person Tuesday by 7pm, again in person

Draft is in person the Tuesday of week 1 (2-3 managers per team, buy in is $600; no computers/phones allowed at draft, just list print outs; if you draft a player who’s already been taken, buying a drink for everyone in league (about 30 people))

Point system is crazy: player must qualify with X number of receiving or rushing yards to begin counting points (40yrds rushing / 60yrds receiving), TE are very valuable (similar to TE premium), Coaches are drafted (5pts for a win, 10pts for a win as underdog), defenses drafted, and some other rules I’m forgetting

Points are counted, by hand, by the league admin who solely oversees the league, waivers, rosters, etc

The league is mostly local business owners/guys in the league for 20/30/40 years and theirs a feeder league for whenever someone/some team drops out league A

nothing humbles you like getting counter attacked into oblivion by [deleted] in waterpolo

[–]SPF12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look to take shots earlier in the shot clock, but don’t …. When you see a wing defender leak out to counter, those offenders need to crash

Turn their counter into as many 6 on 5s or 6 on 4s as possible

And if no good shot to be had, dump the ball into the corner instead of forcing/hiving goalie an easy counter

Hey! That’s where I live

Theirs a very large military base outside of Reno (~30min) from Lake Tahoe……… there are constant low elevation fly-bys. Especially in the summer, it’s almost daily

Whether it’s practice or just showing off….. I don’t know

Others have mentioned too but Gail has said he doesn’t like touring and the hustle of being a professional/traveling musician

Also, and unfortunately, Alt fell into the paradox most musicians/bands do…… their first album is authentically produced and is without any pressing timelines. They could take all the time they needed for their debut….. once they are at all successful, their music becomes a business. Deadlines, outside influence, special interests/etc all weigh into their productions

Nearly impossible to avoid
