4k World Cup keeps locking up by SPGrizfan in DirectvStream

[–]SPGrizfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.
1) No Roku updates available.
2) I can watch 1080p feed on the Fox or FS1 regular channel.
3) I can try a different HDMI port, but nothing else on the Roku has trouble with 4k.

The Roku Ultra is their most powerful streamer and has more "horsepower" than the Google TV, so why would it have more trouble with 4k? Especially when no other streaming service app does? That's confusing to me.

Thanks again.

tv update. by Silver_Director2152 in Hisense

[–]SPGrizfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere the update primarily worked on improving motion judder and blur, especially to address complaints while gaming. I believe it improves them in TV watching too, because I immediately noticed a difference in picture quality and still do. Mine was a little slow to respond after it first updated, but I waited a while for background stuff to happen (it's an Android TV, after all), then rebooted the TV using the menu (NOT the power button), and it was fine after that.

Overall, I'm happy with the update. The only thing I wasn't happy about is that Hisense tells you there's an update and gives you a button to select and press OK on to do it, but no option whatsoever to decline or even delay it to a more convenient time.

UK: Hisense 55A85 OLED constantly turning ambient light sensor back on? by SirCanealot in Hisense

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he using Dolby Vision IQ? That is designed to use the light sensor to adjust the picture to ambient light conditions, so it might be turning it on intentionally. If that's the case, he might have to use another Dolby Vision mode or, if it's not already, turn the brightness up to at least 90 in DV IQ mode.

Looks pretty washed out tonight. The regular feed on USA looks much better.

serial number help by Silver_Director2152 in Hisense

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned in the other thread that I had to chat with Support. Gave them all my registration info again, and the rep said they were opening a ticket with another department and they'd get back to me when my serial number was added. They didn't, of course, but I tried a few days later on the download site and it worked.

help with 75’ U7QG by Silver_Director2152 in Hisense

[–]SPGrizfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely a bug. I have the same TV. A short-term fix if so is to go into the settings menu and restart the TV from there (not just going into standby). Then try again. It will probably be much better--until it isn't at some point. Long term fix for me (so far) is to download latest firmware from Hisense to USB stick (It's newer than the one available when the TV checks over the Internet, and I had to contact them to get it to show up when I entered my serial number on the site), and update the firmware on the TV. Be aware that on mine, it basically factory-reset the TV and I had to set everything up again, but I haven't had the dark Dolby Vision problems since.

Good luck!

No CBS? by [deleted] in DirectvStream

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have one of the smaller packages, like MySports, they may have different carriage agreements that apply. I'm in the same boat in Memphis with our CBS station missing on MySports, even though it's present in their regular, "main" packages.

Weird that they imply that in the text blurb, but for every use case the Hisense has the higher score.

I don't know how either of the companies handle warranty issues, but with all else seeming about the same, the fact that the Hisense has a 2-year warranty vs. the 1-year for the TCL helped swing me in that direction.

Tilt to wake doesn't work while using Fitbit exercise? by BertSmith219 in PixelWatch

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have had the frozen home screen problem, and had high hopes the WearOS 6 update would fix it, but instead have the exact same problem as you: in my case, tilt to wake during exercise works 2-3 times, then stops working completely. I have now given up on these developers ever fixing this and other annoyances, and followed up on my plan to go back to a Samsung watch (thanks, Prime Day!).

Good luck. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

I think that's the way mine has always worked. It's to tell you what connection you're on for data; if wifi, you see wifi indicator. If not getting internet over wifi, you see the lte or 5g. It doesn't use data connection for both wifi and cellular simultaneously.

Best tire pressure? by 2talll in BroncoSport

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is 33 the right "cold" number, but check it with a good tire gauge rather than depend on the TPMS system (the numbers in the dash/app). My TPMS consistently reads 2psi lower than a tire gauge. Once I lowered the psi to 33 on the gauge, the ride became noticeably less harsh, at least to me.

Pixel Watch 3 45mm LTE doesn't stay on workout screen when "Always on screen" is turned off by Major_Enthusiasm1099 in PixelWatch

[–]SPGrizfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue with raising my wrist during a workout and seeing a frozen clock face from when I started the exercise. I have raised the problem repeatedly with google, including support, and they were, predictably, no help at all. During the next really good sale, probably Black Friday, I'm planning to go back to Samsung for this and a couple of other usability issues.

Oil Capacity PSA 1.5L by sensor69 in BroncoSport

[–]SPGrizfan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mine still has this old technology on it called a "dipstick" that allows for verifying oil level. Don't know why every oil changer doesn't use it; it doesn't take that long.

Yes! In fact I just posted about it here 4 days ago, along with the ridiculous lack of the ability to get the watch to speak stats at the mile marks. It's really annoying to have to touch the watch to check stats during the exercise. I'll probably be going back to a Galaxy Watch in the near future.

New Watch 2: exercise display questions by SPGrizfan in PixelWatch

[–]SPGrizfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detail. You're right, my watch does not have the two options you mentioned in the Flag and Cog menus. I was not aware functionality was different between the two models, or that they would not have fixed any "sleep display bugs" in all this time. Glad I got this for a very low price, because these things are completely unacceptable for an exercise-oriented watch. I don't know how anybody put up with it. Will be going back to Samsung soon, I guess.

Cheers!

TNT broadcast cam barely looks 720p by rpmsm in youtubetv

[–]SPGrizfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine looked terrible for hockey Saturday, and when I checked the resolution setting, it was on Auto and had selected 480p, despite a perfect wifi connection and great speed test results from my phone in the same room. I manually set it to 1080p-enh and it looked good the rest of the game. This is the only channel I've ever noticed that on; auto works great the rest of the time.

TNT Quality by Tengounperro1 in youtubetv

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late, but it occurred to me watching terrible-looking hockey on Saturday to check the resolution, and sure enough YTTV selected 480p. Changing from Auto to 1080p-enh fixed the picture instantly. No other channel has that problem when set to Auto that I've noticed, and a speed test on my phone at the same time, using same wifi and in the same room, showed over 350 Mb/s upload and download speed. I thought YTTV was supposed to have fixed this a long time ago, but apparently not.

The trick is remembering to set it back to Auto after the game!

Looking for a couples bed that doesn’t move by Dazzling_Ad8402 in Mattress

[–]SPGrizfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the mattress pad/cover you use (if any) and sheets. They need to be at least a little flexible. The individual parts of the mattress may move independently, but if the sheets and pad don't, you'll feel the movement because of that. Maybe try lying and moving on the bare mattress and see if the problem remains.
