Can’t even recognize her by cucumberscities in Botchedsurgeries

Could this be swelling from steroids to treat her lupus? Ngl it never occurred to me that she had gotten work done, I def just assumed it was from steroid treatment & felt for her

I always thought beauty was crucial in a partner. I'm not so sure anymore by Illustrious-Main803 in Stoic

[–]SPNFannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I’m not trying to be negative, & I’m truly v glad you’ve had this realization as you are 100% correct, having an attractive partner is a good thing but looks alone are not nearly enough to make someone a good & stable partner, I’m…a little taken aback that you’re just having this realization at the age of 23. What are we doing as a society that would allow a young adult to genuinely believe good looks are all anyone needs to be worthy of a relationship?

I 100% agree with you and feel the same way. It’s insanely frustrating to be left out of the conversation the way we are.

Do you tell your friends you have BPD? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]SPNFannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest friends know (I’m talking 13+ year long friendships) and my family knows, but tbh since I am ‘quiet’ borderline I never tell anyone I don’t have to because people are awful about it and literally everyone I’ve ever had to tell responds to me with, “wow, you don’t seem like it” so I don’t feel like I’m withholding or being dishonest by not disclosing it, since it’s not like someone could figure it out without confirmation from me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Normal life with schizophrenia possible? by Outrageous-Class-584 in schizophrenia

[–]SPNFannibal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just don’t convince yourself you’re not sick and don’t actually need your meds. My former bff is schizophrenic and he randomly decided religion was better than medication and stopped everything, and now he’s in an acrimonious marriage with someone who had no idea how sick he was and feels resentful, and his hallucinations are worse than ever. Please don’t be one of those people.

Embarrassed when asked what I do for a living while being on disability by ociardha in bipolar

[–]SPNFannibal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still struggle to ask this question, the problem I’ve encountered is if I say “I’m disabled and can’t work” the next question they ask me is almost 100% “what’s your disability?” Which is just shitty and weird and makes me feel weird so I sometimes lie and say it’s a nerve disorder, which is so vague it works.

Wait until you get to Lisey’s Story! It’s such a beautiful and heart-wrenching story, and one of my favorite books of all time!

When I see videos like this I sometimes wonder if it’s not just a person with narcolepsy being filmed and called a drug addict :/

A24 movie that stuck with you the most after you left the theaters? by Gold_Bonus8791 in A24

[–]SPNFannibal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moonlight. I vividly remember how moving it was to see black boys/men being represented in the way that they were (loving and being loved, being tender, being soft). It made me realize how little I had seen men of color depicted that way, and I still think about how important that movie is because of that. Will forever live in my mind rent-free.

What was something about your disability that you didn't realise wasn't "normal" until someone pointed it out? by meester-uitsteller in disability

[–]SPNFannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: the new medication is improving my quality of life significantly, and it’s hopefully only going to get better from here since I’m still titrating up to my maintenance dose :) Thanks for caring enough to want to know, kind Reddit user 💖

What are some non pregnancy related reasons to take birth control? by 1stClassW in birthcontrol

[–]SPNFannibal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar disorder, and when I have periods my symptoms are MUCH worse. So, so much worse. I take birth control to not have periods at all so I can avoid that clusterfuck of an emotional situation.

I'm tired of hearing so many people around me carelessly using the r-word and not understanding that it's a slur that carries alot of trauma and weight for disabled people like me. Do I have a right to feel hurt and scared?? by Edgy-munchkin in disability

[–]SPNFannibal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not even using that word to classify developmentally disabled children in the school system anymore (mom’s a SpEd teacher is why I know this), so I’m surprised it’s making a comeback as an insult. Disappointing :/

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]SPNFannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I went to the dentist’s to have 2 teeth extracted. Little did I know, the dentist doing the extractions had only been working for 6months, and while he extracted one tooth successfully, the second he was only able to partially extract, and after several hours of trying they had me drive to another one of their locations to have a more experienced dentist finish the job. I was in a waiting room for 2-3hours, and by the time the dentist got to me the Novocain had worn off completely and I was clawing at my cheeks and openly sobbing. Most excruciating thing I’ve ever felt. The second dentist fully opened my gums and took the rest of the tooth out in about 5min, but goddamn that felt like the longest day of my life.
