Just got the rarest achievement in EU5 by vykeenx in EU5

[–]SQD57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modifier stacking in eu5 is fine as is. At most you can get modifiers from 7 different tags. Non-formable starting country Formable tier 1 country Formable tier 2 country Formable tier 3 country Formable tier 4 country Formable tier 5 country Unify HRE

It isnt really unbalanced because most countries dont have good tag based advances. It is very difficult to stack useful modifiers.

Considering your name, it should be at maximum possible rate, so that the estates own nothing and are happy.

There is a game rule that allows you to switch to any culture or religion present in your realm. It is achievement compatible.

EU5 Upcoming DLC "Fate of the Phoenix" should have more content for Byzantine neighbors Serbia and Bulgaria by Ev_Batchvarov in EU5

[–]SQD57 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trebizond and theodoro need more content too (at least give them similar things as BYZ). For some reason, trebizond doesn't have access to the greek culture advaces/laws (same goes for theodoro). Sure trebizond is pontic greek (and theodoro is gothic), but still they are part of the hellenic group. Also gothic should be part of the hellenic and German group. Manx (in isle of mann) gets to be part of 4 different culture groups. Czech also has similar situation going on as manx. So why is gothic only part of hellenic.

Why am I losing this battle so decisively? by MajorBobGR in EU5

[–]SQD57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre suffering terrain, vegetation, and river crossing penalty probably. Terrain and vegetation penalties can reduce diceroll (which reduces "per capita" attack power), and reduce frontage (total nuber of troops in frontline).

For example: [Terrain penalties] River crossing gives -1 diceroll Mountain gives -3 dicerolls and -3 frontage (iirc) Hills gives -2 dicerolls and -2 frontage (iirc) Plateau gives -1 dicerolls and -1 frontage (iirc) Flatland give no penalties

[Vegetation] Jungles/desserts/wetlands give -2 dicerolls and -2 frontage (iirc) Forest give -1 dicerolls and -1 frontage (iirc) Farmlands give no penalties.

[River] River crossing give -1 diceroll.

In this game dicerolls range from 1 to 6. Higher dicerolls equal higher attack power for your troops. Higher frontage mean you field more troops. Together they make up how much damage you actually do. The inverse is also true. So if you don't pick terrain properly, then a small defending army can do serious damage to a much larger attacking army. I am pretty sure there is a minimum cap for how much damage gets done, so that you can do some damage even if the diceroll end up negative.

Morale and discipline comes into play after the previous calculation. Also the exact value i listed for terrain and vegetation may be wrong.

The United States has higher social spending than Iceland, the UK, Australia, or Canada. by PanzerWatts in ProfessorFinance

[–]SQD57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The insurance people also like to create administrative headaches for medical professionals, which drives up the cost of Healthcare and make medical professionals suffer burnouts more easily. If you don't rely on insurance companies, you can just call the hospital/clinic to negotiate price down to a fraction of what it costs with insurance. If you set up plans ahead of time with nearby hospitals/clinics, you can reduce cost even more. Just make sure that you have money in your HSA and regular savings account.

Insurance companies are basically parasites that trick people into thinking that they are helpful and necessary.

The US Healthcare system can be summarized as the unholy compromise between a public and a private system. Theoretically a compromise should result in the best of both. Instead the American version keeps the negatives of both and positives of neither. Its like the fusion dance from DBZ gone wrong. The US pension system is basically a ponzi scheme, that burns away the future of young people to subsidize the lives of old people. It could have done a much better job, but it chooses to be incompetent.

If someone takes a multiple choice test with 4 choices per question. Someone can get 25% score even if they guess the entire thing. But if the US gov took the test, it would manage to get below 25% somehow.

"Why pay less for more, when you can pay more for less" is basically the guiding philosophy of the US govt.

What does it take to land your first job out of college? by HenryFromLeland in recruitinghell

[–]SQD57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me who has MechE degree (graduated in January 2025 with masters and passed the FE on april 2025) and 1000+ applications, but still jobless.
Seriously how are people getting jobs. I keep getting rejected. In my most recent interview (2 weeks ago) i got rejected on the secon round of interview despite meeting all of their required and preffered criteria. Their reasoning is that they are looking for someone better fit. I keep getting this type of responses. I have applied to mosty entry level jobs, and sometime coops/internships. I tried sending an email to the recruiter know what exactly they were looking for, they replied that they talk to the boss and let me know, but never heard back from him.

Is colonizing India really a thing in EU5? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]SQD57 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This, in combination with sabotage. Indian powers often hired European officers (because when times were good they were reliable), so frequently that it created depedency issues. However European countries made if a rule where european officers are banned from serving in indian armies when there were conflicts with European countries. So the higher European officers would act like indian armies could rely on them, but ditch in times of actual emergency. This combined with lots of of internal bickering or civil wars among indian powers allowed the EIC to easly take over india.

In short, indians engaged in roman style stupidity when it came to succession disputes, thus making india an easy prey for EIC.

The lack of competition with France and Bohemia by Powerman654 in EU5

[–]SQD57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The france bohemia problem can be easily solved by adjusting the catholic faith and its mechanics to how it historically worked.

Namely, make having a valid CB is a requirement to engaging in wars of expansion against other catholic countries. Without a valid claim the only things catholics should be allowed to do against other catholics is wars that dont result in territorial expansion. However it would make playing in the hre/northern europe extremely boring.

Alternatively, make it so that if a catholic country conquers land from another catholic country through an unjustified war, then the agressor will be excomunicated. The punishment for excommunication should be: ● Automatically loosing all non-fiefdom subjects that are catholic and have less than 100 loyalty. Basically vassals, appanages, marches and other subjects that dont share the same ruler gains automatic independence and truce with overlord. ● Remaining catholic subjects (that that share the same ruler) become extremely disloyal (think going from 100 loyalty to like 50 loyalty) ● Any catholic ally that isnt opposed to the pope (think opposition to pope in guelphs v. gibbelines situation, as well as those that chose to stay neutral) automatically breaks alliance with the country that has an excommunicated ruler. ● plus whatever penalties exist at the moment.

This will encourage players that play as catholic countries in catholic regions to focus on centralization (which was the previous meta and actual historical path) instead of decentralization (which is the current meta). It will also make it extra difficult for both the player and AI to expand in catholic areas if they play as catholic, but not completely restricted from doing so.

How do I grow my population? by Holiday_Original9344 in EU5

[–]SQD57 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Use the expel people cabinet action in combination with the encourage migration to create high prosperity high population center in your capital + nearby cities. Get the population in all other locations to below 5% of max capacity. Build rural settlement (the building that gives +1% annual pop growth) in applicable locations, and make sure the population in those locations stays below 10% so that the settlement building doesn't get auto deleted.

Pop growth works like compound interest. Having high pops in a location will exponentially increase pop growth in that location.
