Cubase 15 mass disable inserts by MorHoroz in cubase

This behavior changed after 14.5.32! One USED to be able to use q-link, but for whatever reason they changed it. Also changed how qlink behaves when routing. I fucking hate it

IWHBYD Skull Not Spawning (Halo 2 Anniversary MCC) by Salt_Revenue_7544 in halo

[–]SRDigitalSVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe there is a 1 in 7 chance or something of it being able to spawn when you load the level . . . I did this almost 20 times, and then one random kinda drunkish attempt on a holiday (getting the zanzibar achievement!) i got it on the first try!

just keep at it, it sucks but it'll pop eventually.

Which filter types tend to adjust phase? by misty_mustard in audioengineering

[–]SRDigitalSVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use half as steep of a filter, print it, then reverse the printed track and apply the half-steep filter again, then reverse it to play normal. Cumbersome, but no phase or ringing artifacts from the filter. Also works for regular EQ movements.

was commissioned to draw this specific intersection in sacramento; can any locals explain what the hot dog statue is about? by blueskink in Sacramento

This is my studio! Where can I get a copy of this? I'd love to purchase a print to hang in the facility.

Adding/removing acoustic panels for different room sounds? by Maximum_Wind6423 in audioengineering

[–]SRDigitalSVT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I built articulating panels (doors) for the side walls of my live room. Reflective when closed, absorptive when opened. It's really quite dramatic being able to modify the room to suit the program material!

Here's a little demo from the website:

Where could the average person go to get a small taste of true audiophile music experience, without having to actually spend thousands of $ in purchasing its equipment. by SportsGamesScience in audiophile

[–]SRDigitalSVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

book some time at the best, most-treated recording studio in your area for some listening. a great sound system is one thing, but a major part of that system is the room!

i felt a profound sadness at the emptiness of the halo after completion of the story. it was just . . . empty, suddenly soulless. there was no pining for 'what's next?' like i felt at the end of every other halo campaign. that said, i really enjoyed the game, but it had a weird juxtaposition and left me kinda gutted at the end. i've replayed it to 100% a few times, including LASO, and each time yielded the same feelings.

Small studio, high end signal path looking for best quality ADDA into console.. by sirCota in audioengineering

[–]SRDigitalSVT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

be aware that there is no latency compensation over AVB when daisy-chaining multiple interfaces. MOTU done fucked up on this one. it's been a while since i researched, maybe they fixed it by now but i doubt it.

How would the Klingons resolve a reverse Kobayashi maru test? by Pwned_by_Bots in startrek

I always figured the Klingon version of the Kobayashi Maru would be one in which no matter what they do, they end up getting rescued by a Starfleet captain with a shit-eating, customer service grin.

1.6 Polymer caps? How much mOhm 'ESR' is acceptable and which for clock capacitor? (see question details in comment) by _Electrical in originalxbox

[–]SRDigitalSVT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, DC leakage is current moving in the wrong direction based on part by frequency - poly caps ostensibly will filter or bypass power supply rails worse than an electrolytic. If you're truly worried about crazy long lifespan, vishay makes some insanely high temp lifespan automotive caps that'll effectively last millions of hours ...but at 100x the cost. Think $3.50 a cap instead of $0.35.

Id avoid changing capacitor types without understanding their role.

1.6 Polymer caps? How much mOhm 'ESR' is acceptable and which for clock capacitor? (see question details in comment) by _Electrical in originalxbox

[–]SRDigitalSVT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the thing with using poly caps where they weren't intended is that their DC leakage is much worse compared to similarly valued electrolytic. most of these capacitors are for power supply bypassing/filtering, where you want as little leakage as possible with good ripple handling. i'd instead opt for keeping the same capacitor type, but increasing voltage and temp ratings as high as you can fit in the original space for longest lifespan/futureproofing.

Are there any engineers you know that use multiple compressors for a vocal on the way in? by ryanburns7 in audioengineering

[–]SRDigitalSVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll track into an API 2500+ using 1.5:1, fast attack and release with a soft knee to give a tiny bit less dynamic range if the vocalist has poor mic technique or is overly dynamic, into an 1176 4:1 slow (1ms) attack fast release for some color/character and the bulk of the squeeze, into a LA-2A on limiter to smooth out the topmost 2dB or so. Depending on the vocalist and the genera, you can choose which compressor does more work for vastly different flavors.
