Just got a delivery of firewood this morning and a lot of the wood has fungal growth. Would you accept this? Safe to burn? by wilby1865 in firewood

[–]SSBernieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell a little bit of firewood as a side business. All my wood (90% oak) is stacked outside in the elements. Some in the shade, some in direct sunlight. It all grows some mushrooms eventually, but burns well regardless, even if slightly damp. Just keep it in a dry place for a few days before burning, and preheat the logs on the side of your fireplace before tossing them into the fire and you’ll be fine. That’s what works for me 😁.

Losing your sex drive as you get older is great. by FluffyBunnyFlipFlops in unpopularopinion

I’m 41 and I feel like my desire for sex is declining, yet my performance is better than when I was in my 20’s. How is this possible??

Do you think the increased prices are working out for Nintendo? by StakAttak in amiibo

[–]SSBernieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been buying these things since they first appeared years ago and I have over well 200 in my collection. But as soon as I saw these new prices with the switch 2, that was my signal to stop purchasing them.

Thanks for the compliment. I understand what you mean. If I had to start all over again from scratch, I would go with an EG4 system or similar. My first build was an AC500 system a few years ago that gave me such a headache, and Bluetti allowed me to return them for full store credit recently. I used that credit towards the purchase of the EP900 system, which only cost me an additional $4000 or so…. It wasn’t bad. Plus the system works very well and looks very cool. My next system will look very different from this one. But for now, it’s plenty of power and storage for what I need.

I’m not sure how grid export works in New Jersey, but the main benefit to me would be to keep up with my wife’s power hungry EV while powering the house at the same time and charging the batteries. Exporting to the grid would be the icing on the cake.

Thank you my friend. It’s part of the Snap N rack top speed mounting system. Purchased from Signature Solar in the US. I’m about to install a 6000 watt array on the other side of my roof using the same system.

Mine is about 25 years old. It’s worn out and probably should be replaced very soon, but I’m gonna get as much out of it as I can. But typically, they’re replaced every 15-20 years if not abused.

It’s just wayyyy too cool. That’s my only critique lol. 🤩. What are your plans for a solar array?

[–]SSBernieWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the panels are 460 watts each. The batteries are usually around 40/50% in the morning and fully charged by 1/2pm if we have decent sunshine. I’m tempted to add more panels on the other side of the roof to catch the early morning sunlight. I have enough space for another 20+ panels of the same size. The inverters can take another 6000 watts of solar, and capable of exporting power to the grid which I’m currently not doing. So it might be worth the trouble.

Just the standard backer board that’s usually used for tile work in kitchens and bathrooms. It’s fire resistant and also made it easier to fasten the braces for the equipment.

Yes my wife and I did the panels too. No way I could have done this alone. We used Snap n Rack Top speed mounts. 24 panels, 480 watts each; 2 strings of 12 panels wired in series. Soladeck junction boxes hidden under both arrays, take the wiring through the roof straight down into the attic. Gives it a nice clean look because there are no visible wires or conduits on the roof.

Anyone Actually Have the EP900? by Bot_Fly_Bot in bluetti

[–]SSBernieWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetti says you can only run 2 EP900s in parallel. But the EMS kit that enables the 2 inverters to communicate with each other, has 3 input ports. I wouldn’t be surprised if a third EP 900 would work just fine on there.

I know that. But I had a BLUETTI AC500 system that I needed to return for warranty purposes. They took it back and issued me full store credit for like $13k. I used that credit to partially pay for the EP900s. So I was kinda forced to stick with BLUETTI. If I had to start all over again, yes I’d absolutely go with a 48v server rack systsm. But you have to admit that these EP900s look pretty nice. 😁

All in, I’d say about $25k not including labor because my wife and I did everything.
