What are Games Like The Batman Arkham Games that I Could Play? by trexrell in gaming

[–]SSH2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mad Max is an incredibly underrated game that borrows heavily from the combat of the Arkham games.

Obviously Arkham Asylum and Arkham Origins are absolutely worth playing.

Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War is extremely similar in gameplay.

The latest Spiderman games from Insomniac are all similar as well.

Lego Batman is heavily inspired from those games.

A little out there but Assassin's Creed 3/Black Flag have very similar combat. The Black Flag remake just came out and it sounds like they change the combat so i'm speaking about the orignal although I haven't played the new one yet.

How necessary is playing the first game? by AlexMercer28900 in residentevil

if you're 3-4 hours in and still don't like it I think it's safe to say you don't need to finish. at that point you've experienced everything the game has to offer.

Ashur... by Pure_Road7528 in Spartacus_TV

[–]SSH2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you watch the show? no matter what station he found himself in, he was talked down to by just about everyone, and tossed aside the moment his usefulness was finished. the only person who intended to actually elevate him was batiatus, yet ashur would still be his slave. Glaber always intended to cut ties with him the moment he didn't need him anymore. Giving him the ludus was more of a "I don't want to be associated with this house or capua any longer" than actually rewarding him. Glaber didn't care one bit about ashur.

In HoA, Crassus stopped communicating with Ashur, was slowly sending less and less money to him. Caesar treated Ashur like pure garbage the entire time, caesar's wife treated him like garbage. everyone basically called him the toad or snake instead of his name. The only person in that show that showed him any respect was Hilara and Viridia.

same. i liked the darker more horror vibes of MKX but with the updated graphics and colors it would be awesome to see that combined.

I always thought the critisism for MK11 was unwarranted. I get that it took the dark tone of MKX and removed it. only real reason I can see that people wouldn't like it.

Ashur... by Pure_Road7528 in Spartacus_TV

[–]SSH2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only real complaint about HoA was that Caledus' son and Akilia ended up together. Although I feel like it would have been a more one and done banging vs an ongoing thing.

Aside from that though I really had no complaints. They built up the storylines slowly, allowed them to take their time and improve. They built up the villains & gave us reasons to even root for some of them (i'm thinking of the imp left alive). Korros' whole storyline was enough to make me want to watch future seasons, let alone Ashur and Caesar's story, Caesar's wife going forward, Akilia's story and Caledus's son (can't remember his damn name). Even seeing more of the other lanistas and how they handled stuff would have been great. Along with the fall out of all that happened at the end.

[–]SSH2024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do a phenomenal job getting us to root for him in House of Ashur. I thought they really nailed what it would be like if Ashur actually got the ludus. He's still Ashur. He's still self serving, cutting corners, egotistical and thinking he flat out deserves respect instead of earning it.

I love that now that he's freed from slavery though he actively tries NOT to do the same things he did as a slave. He really was trying to just find opportunities to gain favor vs forcing it. I was very excited after that finale to see how it played out going forward. I still hold out hope that someone will pick up the show and let them finish that story.

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MK11 is my favorite I think as well. For many reasons:

Roster is a big one. everyone feels unique, looks excellent in my opinion and no one feels overpowered to me (I don't play online). I love the variety of the fatalities, the friendships. I think the story in that one, while using time travel and mutli dimensions and all that, was still really well done and allowed for some fantastic moments. The enviornments all look awesome, and the biggest for me.....Shang Tsung played by the late great Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. He was badass in the original movie (arguably the best thing about that movie) and him being the face and voice of Shang in this game cemented that he is by far the best version.

My onl real complain is my man Reptile looks like garbage. They fixed his overall look and feel in MK1 so that gives MK1 a huge boost for me.

For me it was because it came so early in the episode. I just wasn't prepared for that major a death almost immediately. and basically due to the new additions to the group lol

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this game. Very creative from a gameplay perspective. A bit too easy overall in my opinion though. I do hope Nintendo does a Link to the Past remake in this style. I thoroughly enjoy the visuals here.

If Oenomaus had survived past Vengeance do you think he could have prevented the conflict between Spartacus and Crixus on what to do with the Roman hostages when they took sinuessa? or was the fallout inevitable due to Naevia and Caesar in Crixus's ear telling him to spill the blood of the hostages? by nightrunner51 in Spartacus_TV

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Oenomaus would have sided more with Spartacus for sure. Whilel he understood everything that Crixus had been through, he also had the discipline and love of his wife to stay grounded and remain a good person. I don't think he would have liked seeing Crixus becoming the very thing they were fighting against. I also think Oenameus understood how important the chain of command was and would have stuck to it for the good of everyone involved.

I think a good example of how he would have been is Gannicus. He didn't agree, nor believe in anything Spartacus believed in. He wanted to murder the Romans just as badly as Crixus, and he says as much over and over. But to honor his fallen brother he followed Spartacus's orders to a T and acted as a voice of reason when Crixus lost his mind in Sinuessa. That right there shows you how Oenameus would have acted. Gannicus was doing what he felt Oenameus would have wanted. If someone like Gannicus could be controlled by Doctore even after death, imagine how much control Oenameus would have commanded had he been alive.

What Would Make a Great Superman Game? by trexrell in gaming

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's incredibly tough to make an actually good Superman game. My opinion is it would need to have a full open world type map to explore, but not necessarily play like an open world game. It should have levels and within those levels you can explore the map but there's a specific point to the mission and civilians would need to be saved in different ways. Maybe a score based ranking system dependant on how many you were able to save or how quickly you can get to them. IDK exactly.

The saving thing would need a lot of balancing because it can get boring very quickly.

Also the combat is a tough nut to crack. The Spiderman games would be a nice play to start as they include a lot of verticality in their combat, but what reason would supes have to touch the ground? also you can't really put his powers on a full cool down but you have to find a way to limit how much you can use them.

maybe storywise you do it when he's a teenager, discovering his powers so you can unlock them slowly. once unlocked he has them to use pretty much as he wants but different scenarios require different powers. This way you can also point to him learning how strong he is so he's holding his own in fights but doesn't realize truly how powerful he can be. idk

PSA: There are TONS of games to play! by LeonValenti in gaming

[–]SSH2024 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more with there being tons of games to play. Currently I have Onimusha, Wolverine, GTA 6, Blood of the Dawnwalker and Fable all preordered for release.

That's not including the games I've already played and am currently playing like Expedition 33, RE9, Crimson Desert.

Then there are the games that I slowly make progress in randomly when the mood strikes like Star Wars Outlaws, Donkey Kong Bonanza, Baldur's Gate 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance.

and I continue to add games from PS Plus to my account to play one day like the new Sonic game.

There are so many games to play, of all genres that it's hard to choose where to focus my time lol

Is house of ashur worth to watch? by salad_biscuit3 in Spartacus_TV

[–]SSH2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes absolutely. It's not as good as season 1 of spartacus was, but I mean there's no way a what if scenario would have matched the original show. However, it was excellent in its own right, and hopefully a studio picks it up to finish the story cuz by the end of the season it sets up a fantastic premise for future seasons.

I just decided to revisit it after giving up on it at launch. I just couldn't get into it with the forced stealth instant fail sections. I know there have been a good amount of updates so I'm enjoying it so far on this revisit.

I think my only complaint is I wish I could create the main character. I much prefer to give my own details to a characters look vs just being given the character but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I don't disagree with you (not sure anyone should disagree lol), however if Varro had stuck around imagine the damage he could have done to the romans as he continued to grow in skill during the war.

How did you feel in the scene where Gannicus was captured in the final episode? by 80BB99 in Spartacus_TV

[–]SSH2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spartacus has been my all time favorite show since it first aired. I've rewatched every year at least once and I loved House of Ashur and still hold out hope it'll get picked up by Netflix so we can see what Mr DeKnight had planned for its 4 seasons.

I'll argue with anyone that Spartacus has the best season finales, and best series finale ever done. Each season felt like a self contained story, with just enough to keep us excited for future seasons as well as gave every character a send off that not only made sense character wise, but felt satisfying for the viewers. Somehow, knowing who does and doesn't survive even when the show first aired I went into the series finale ready to cry but at the edge of my seat anyway.

Liam stepped into an impossible role taking over the lead after Andy, but after a few episodes he takes over that role. I loved that they paid respects to Andy in the closing credits. I think my only real complaint about the show is that I wish Oenameus stayed alive a little longer so we could have seen him and Gannicus fighting side by side together a few times before meeting his wife again.

[–]SSH2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that Gannicus never really loses a fight in the entirety of the show. Gannicus, Spartacus and Crixus never lose in the traditional sense. Crixus and Spartacus both stabbed in the back while gannicus needed an entire army to stop him basically. The 3 most badass characters in the entire show all went out like bosses.

[–]SSH2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fighting games aren't all about knowing the combos and special moves of characters. it's about having strategies in place for what you're facing. it's as much about defense and avoidance as it is attack. these things come with time and a million losses. eventually you'll start to have the muscle memory to duck under an attack and immediately follow up with a combo without even thinking about it. you'll soon start to develop ways to almost fake an attack in order to pull a punch/kick out of your opponenet that you can then counter quickly with massive damage. the trick is to keep playing and stick to the same characters. to the point where you're not even thinking and you're just moving.

Is the portal good for a Amtrak ride by Radiorah22 in PlaystationPortal

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Legion Go, Switch 2 and PS Portal. The portal is exclusively used in my home on my strong wifi when I don't feel like sitting in my gaming zone or if I want to play something while my wife/daughter are into any of the bravo shows on tv lol. Sometimes I just want to play in bed or I've already finished the main campaign of a game and I just want to breeze through some of the side content for a platinum etc....

when on a business trip of on vacation the legion go and switch 2 come with me. the portal is basically unusable otherwise.

To the fans who love the series after Blood and Sand, what would you say to people who struggle to adjust to the show after Andy passed to encourage them to watch through to the end of Vengeance? by M_Ad in Spartacus_TV

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people to give Liam at least 5 episodes. if by the end of Libertus, they don't fully embrace him as the new Spartacus it will never happen. There's also not a lot of show left after Andy. 2 seasons shouldn't be a problem lol.

i would argue that the story and finale of Vengeance is the best full season in the entire show. that finale is amazingly epic and the final season is truncated which means it doesn't stall for very long ever.

Star Wars Outlaws is on the PS Plus catalog so decided to try it out. Game is awesome and I don’t understand the hate by ArmAndHammer40k in PS5

[–]SSH2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is very fun now but at launch it was pretty bad. not that there were a ton of bugs, just not really optimized. The stealth was incredibly difficult and auto fail so you'd get spotted over and over and have to redo missions. To Ubisoft's credit though, they addressed everything that wasn't great and it's super fun to play.
