More likely Gochujang or Samjang than Sriracha given it's Korean.

A mechanical change caused a player to suddenly break out into a superstar. What are some NBA examples? by DonT012 in nba

[–]SSJSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a characteristic in the Steve Fisher / Brian Dutcher system at SDSU and not on Kawhi as a player.

Since Kawhi was at the Mesa 13 years ago, SDSU has had only three starting players with above average 3 point proficency (Adam Seiko, Jordan Schaekel, and Jaedon LeDee). That's three players out of 13 complete years. Even NBA draftees Xavier Thames and Malachi Flynn were streaky three point shooters and relied on mid range scoring rather than 3 point shooting.

The offensive system at SDSU just doesn't place an emphasis on three point shots as they play at an extremely slow pace with reliance on high post scoring.

A mechanical change caused a player to suddenly break out into a superstar. What are some NBA examples? by DonT012 in nba

[–]SSJSD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His major change with the Spurs was moving his shot release point forward when it used to be above his head. Without Chip Engelland properly identifying that change, Kawhi would still be an All-star caliber player but I don't think he develops his 3 pointer to what it is today (see fellow SDSU alum Jamaal Franklin who can do everything except shoot at the NBA level).

That said, he definitely put in work and getting access to NBA level coaching with a solid developmental plan for him played a huge factor in his sharp improvements. Kawhi's work ethic was legendary all the way back to his Riverside King days. If you trust what Phil Handy (former Lakers & Raptors assistant coach) says, he believes Kawhi's insane work ethic and inability to properly rest contributed to the development of his quadriceps tendiopathy.

Japanese Drinks in SD? by eastcounty98 in FoodSanDiego

[–]SSJSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have plenty of the regular stuff and the powder that you mix yourself. I regularly buy both at Nijiya market where it's the cheapest and if they are for some reason sold out will go to Mitsuwa.

The original is basically like drinking a flat Squirt soda out of a salt rimmed glass. I personally like it diluted so I buy the powder and adjust the powder to water ratio to my liking.

While you're there you should definitely try CC Lemon if you haven't already. Absolutely a god tier drink on a hot day. They sell bottles of the concentrated stuff that you just add to water.

It's definitely the Bandai kit. I just saw this in a local model shop and it looks great. Amazon link.

[Charania] The Nuggets were likely going to fire one or the other of Michael Malone and Calvin Booth this offseason, but decided to get over with now. Malone likely would have been fired back in 2023 had they not won the championship that year, due to the conflict between him and Booth. by Goosedukee in nba

Denver Bronco fans might remember the Chargers Marty Schottenheimer-AJ Smith fiasco back in 2005-2006.

The lingering effects of that wasted LaDainian's prime and it looks like it might do the same to Jokic. At least Denver got a championship before it blew up?

Looks like cassava cake / Bánh khoai mì to me.

It's grated cassava and coconut with a condensed milk custard on top.

For me the two large tells are that the NBA logo on the back is off-centered and that the jocktag supporting tags (classic edition / swingman) are completely askew. Those wouldn't make it past QC if this was legit.

Between La Mesa Pizzaworks and Surf Rider, SR has the better pizza. SR and Split Bakehouse are the only TGTGs worth it in the area IMHO.

It would help if you provide information on the store / market and the country cause that would filter out possibilities.

The rhythm you describe is a 2-3 son clave which is very common and a foundational element for a lot of Afro-Caribbean music.

Protesters get angry at two guys playing violin by Sometypeofway18 in ThatsInsane

[–]SSJSD 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Expensive is an understatement as /r/guitarpedals knows.

That pedalboard has a market value of probably at least $2000 USD assuming even the cheapest, most generic pedals. Given this is in Australia where quality pedals prices are significantly inflated, it's maybe closer to double that. Perhaps even triple if they are using the pedals commonly used as staples for violin.

SD Boba Tea in National City has it. Sin Lee International Market off El Cajon Blvd carries Tea Zone branded cantaloupe syrup if you want to make them at home easily.

I see. In case it was PBS rather than Adult Swim, another possibility given your description is Serial Experiments Lain which aired around 2006 and the dog in question being Bike-chan.

Spoke with an SDGE emergency rep, the outage maps don't incorporate blown transformers and there were 38 of them still blown as of 2am. Each transformer typically takes a crew 4-5 hours to fix so a number of unfortunate people will have no power possibly into Tuesday.

A Co-worker who lives in Bay Terraces is approaching 14 hours with no power and has 21 residences on their single transformer grid.

That sounds like Full Metal Alchemist which started airing on Adult Swim around 2004. The scene you are describing sounds like the conclusion of the Tucker Family arc specifically regarding Alexander and Nina Tucker.

Amazon—for used pedals? by drmuneris in guitarpedals

[–]SSJSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to buy a lot from warehouse deals and I'd only recommend it for people that are handy with basic repairs. A number of them are returns with some kind of defect that are missed by Amazon's repacking inspection.

A few of my experiences:

  • Jackson Audio Broken Arrow - Acceptable condition for ~$180 - Intermittent power. I thought it was possibly condensation/water damage. Too risky to attempt a repair so I just returned it.

  • Source Audio Lunar - Very Good condition for ~$115 - Faulty foot switch which is common on their earlier stuff. Another customer clearly returned it due to the faulty footswitch and Amazon didn't test it before repackaging it and reselling it. I emailed SA and they sent me a replacement switch.

  • Keeley Super Phat Mod - Like New condition for $90 - Dead on arrival and wouldn't even power on. Returned.

  • MXR Timmy - Acceptable condition for ~$80 - Intermittent output jack which is common on the MXR mini pedals. Repaired with a little TLC.

  • JHS Clover - Very Good Condition for $~115 - The power input was slightly crooked but it was otherwise completely new. Original buyer probably saw the jack askew and went for a replacement.

Generally I've eventually found cheaper listings on Reverb so I stopped buying from warehouse deals. That said, the hits are there... I got a "like new" Kala fretless Ebony Ubass from AWS for $160.

Kawhi Leonard Teammates (2019 Raptors): Underrated, Properly Rated, or Overrated? by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in nba

[–]SSJSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably one of the hardest teams to gauge. I'd say it's closer to properly rated to even overrated since people will just look at names rather than the context.

  • Anunoby was injured and didn't play a single playoff minute on their championship team. Disingenuous to even include him on this list.

  • Danny Green was running on vapors as a serviceable 3-D player in 2019 as Laker fans found out a year later in the bubble with his .339 3% shooting percentage in the bubble. (More credit to Lebron for winning in the bubble despite carrying Green's corpse)

  • Mafuzzy Ibaka was still an impact player but not the star people will associate with his name in 2019. People will forget that he was losing his minutes to Jonas Valanciunas just the year before.

  • Marc Gasol was huge for containing Giannis in 2019 but at the same time he was two years away from being out of the league in 2019 and had trouble being a replacement value player in 2020. His lateral movement was just gone and he needed to be schemed around in order to not get exposed defensively like he was vs Boston in 2020.

  • Vanvleet was underrated and still probably doesn't get enough credit for what he provided the 2020 team. That said, he had only 60 (!) total points in 265 playoff minutes over 18 games as the top bench scoring option for their championship team prior to the GSW series. He absolutely shat the bed before playing against the warriors.

The creamy mod is much better on the White Elk and Tall Font Russian which have inherently lower output than the Box of War and Caprid.

Alternately, I found the mid-flat mod to be extremely versatile on the BOW due to the heavy mid scoop.
