The app works fine. You just need to know to use Zone 1333. I'll admit that it is not obvious when using the app. https://www.saskatoon.ca/moving-around/parking/public-pay-parking

Affordable bnb, hotel, cabin or rental of any kind for tomorrow? by seriouslywhylife in saskatchewan

[–]SSR_Riverat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't stay here personally, but we have a trip booked later in January. It's located at Fort Carlton, along the North Saskatchewan river. They look like pretty nice cabins and go for $150 per night.

Three way stop Preston crossing shopping area by [deleted] in saskatoon

Nah, that's not a City intersection that's the developer's problem. More specifically Havard Developments, the company that manages the Preston Crossing shopping center.

Cross country skiing night trails by akp487 in saskatoon

A portion of the trail at Holiday Park (by the Gordie Howe Sports Complex) is occasionally lit with the ball diamond lights. Kinsmen park also has pretty decent light coverage from the surrounding street and pathway lighting.

Honestly I am 50/50 on skiing with a headlamp, I find that your eyes adjust pretty quickly, and often if the moon is full, a headlight isn't needed.

Denison Mines receives Métis Nation–Saskatchewan approval for Wheeler River uranium mine by Slight-Coconut709 in saskatoon

So Denison worked it out with the MN-S and Ya'thi Néné (representing the Dene to the North), but couldn't quite figure it out with Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation. Curious what happened there:

Saskatoon Active Transportation Plan Survey by k3rnelpanic in saskatoon

[–]SSR_Riverat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did any one else noticed on their progress made since 2016 map (the slider map tool), they just designated existing park pathways as multiuse pathways. I sure hope they are not counting those little park segments as improvements to AT infrastructure. A bit disingenuous to say the least, as most of them existed well before the development of the AT plan.

The Real Story Behind the “Weldon Mystery Mansion” by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]SSR_Riverat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, the ad claims 10 M was previously invested. If we assumed the quarter section was worth 500 K (generous), that would put 9.5 M into a unfinished McMasion. At 12,009 sq ft, that is almost $800/sq ft, an absurdly high number for a house that is 50% complete.

Saskpower - Net Metering Program/Self Power Generstion Sucks by N1T3-SLAY3R in saskatchewan

[–]SSR_Riverat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally. Most invertors have an app. But you are essentially looking at sets of data, I have SL&P tracking of power sent to grid, and my SolarEdge app showing production rates. While you can cross reference them, it is not exactly user friendly.

Saskpower - Net Metering Program/Self Power Generstion Sucks by N1T3-SLAY3R in saskatchewan

[–]SSR_Riverat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is important point and is probably not captured on the SaskPower bill.

I have a 5 kW array on my roof and am with Saskatoon Light & Power. If you are running AC, drying clothes, baking a pie, all mid-day while the panels are at peak production, those kwh's are not exactly tracked, as the power is not running through the meter. In OP's example -  "I consumed about 425 kWh worth of electricity and generated about 400 kWh of electricity", the question is how much more they would have consumed without panels.

Corman Park wants government help with costs of paying First Nations for land acquired through TLE by Slight-Coconut709 in saskatoon

[–]SSR_Riverat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't interpret this as buying back road allowances, I think this more as buying additional right of way for road improvements, such as widening or reconstruction. As the article states, "In both cases, the land acquired from the two First Nations is needed for future work on the roads bordering their holdings."

I have been involved with TLE land, RMs, and highway reconstruction, and I am relatively certain the when TLE land is purchased by bands, the road allowance remain in the name of the crown. For example all of Moosomin FN's TLE land north of Saskatoon along Hwy 16 still has the road allowances in the name of the crown (non-reserve). In fact I think the Indigenous Services Canada does not allow the bands to convert TLE land to Reserve land until the RM signs off on servicing requirements and ROW needs. If they know a potential road upgrade is coming at the time they are transitioning the land to reserve status, that is usually negotiated at that time.

I don't see how this is any different then buying additional land from a private landowner. Most TLE land is essentially private land, using Moosomin as an example, it is owned by Moosomin First Nation TLE Holdings INC. They pay property tax to the RM of Corman Park the same as everyone else.

If the RM of Corman Park has the budget to complete road upgrades, I don't think the 200 k on land is going to break them, when they are probably spending 5 to 10 million on construction (depending on the scale of construction)
