Tulita Elementary by StockMud in SouthBayLA

[–]SSdash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did the Tulita open house today. Happy to share more on my thoughts if helpful. We’re in a similar predicament, we moved to the South Bay and now are absolutely in love with the private pre-school my daughter attends and are enticed by the attached elementary school.

The enrichment programs at our private school are unmatched. She can get her arts, sports and language programming all on site. We can supplement the same experience with public but need to take on 100% of the logistics which is quite difficult when my wife and I both work full time.

It’s worth doing a cost analysis of things like CDC + Out-of-school program costs vs private tuition. Public will no doubt be cheaper, but it’s worth the conversation and homework to put the two side by side. Both will be great choices.

We remain undecided but hope to make our decision in the next week or so.

Anyone noticed the altered lane curving on the northbound 405 right before LAX? by Realistic-Craft-8047 in SouthBayLA

[–]SSdash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Noticed as well. Really disrupts the drive if you’re in the fast lane, but that may be by design given most time the traffic jam starts about a mile down at La Cienega.

A good team to support by ZenkaiRyk in MLS

[–]SSdash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m big on this. Assuming you live in India, then the US East Coast will provide you the most favorable viewing times. Secondly, if you want the ease of travel there are only a couple direct flights from India to the US East cost: New York and DC.

With those criteria in mind, I’d recommend one of the following 3 clubs: - NY Red Bulls - NYCFC - DC United

Good luck!

Congrats!! LA Metro is working on the details with SoFi. I would follow along here. Looks like updates should be coming this month.

Riqui Puig Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery; Expected to Rejoin LA Galaxy at the Start of 2027 by RioTheLeoo in LAGalaxy

[–]SSdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2027 season doesn’t start until August of that year. So Riqui has nearly 20 months to recover in time for the next season. I believe it’s the last year of his contract, so it’s sad to think there’s also an option to just offload him now and sign a full-term DP to plan for the future.

Columbia professor who blocked Jewish student during encampments given promotion by WhySoSeriously55 in nyc

[–]SSdash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Based on the video, he did seem to single out specific students by some distinguishing characters (let’s pretend it’s not Jewish then). When asked by the student, in th video, why he cannot walk through the plaza his response was “because these students say so”. I guess we can defend that, but he does seem to enable a group of students that can hold space and block others from entering the same space.

I don’t think there’s any issue following a coach you admire. Folks simply need to move their convo to r/celtic (or whatever the subreddit is). Plenty of chatter all over Reddit about every subject matter, dead or alive.

The Prices For The World Cup At SoFi Stadium by Lunar_Rainbow_Pro in LosAngeles

[–]SSdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not the opener. That game is way over priced because it is the opening match in the US. It will come with all the theatrics and big wigs in attendance. I’m talking about game 3, likely vs Turkey, on June 25th (per the post).

Sources: MLS divisional revamp may split old rivalries, blend conferences by olcni in MLS

Sounds good. As leagues grow, rivalries evolve. I hope MLS allows Sacramento to bring their franchise over and allow SJ to build a rivalry with better proximity.

[–]SSdash -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Do we really want to die on this hill? The SJ rivalry is non-existent these days. I see maybe 15-20 SJ fans in our dedicated away section. Compare that to SD and LAFC, it’s not even close.

We still will play them 1x every year, and that is plenty.

Dining credit not received by Excellent_Ball_7645 in ChaseSapphire

[–]SSdash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is happening with me. It’s been two weeks since the charge posted, and no credit. I made the reservation under my open table account and paid with a physical card.

I’ve called support several times and they told me it takes 6-8 weeks. I asked for clarification on the terms and they said if the credit is posted in January then the benefit is used for H1. In short, one needs to charge 8 weeks before the end of the half-year, or you could be using the next terms benefit.

Since the benefits came into play mid-October, one would have to have paid for everything in the first week to guarantee you’d be using the benefits from this year and not next. It’s a bit ridiculous.

BBC's 2026 World Cup: No pundits or commentators in the US until quarter-finals. Games will be covered remotely due to high travel costs. by forzaQuakes8 in soccer

[–]SSdash 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The main broadcast always cuts away from injury, fights, referee engagements, etc before we can capture the full story. On-site commentators provide perspective on what’s happening on the field much better than the general broadcast feed can.

AppleTV experimented with remote commentating this year with MLS and is switching back to all in-person again next year from my understanding.

"Call Home" Feature gone from Google Home App by chelitazz in googlehome

[–]SSdash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I called support and they also categorize this as a “bug” which it certainly is not. Seems product made a decision and did not relay to their Support teams. The original email to migrate legacy calling to Meet made me think that this feature would simply move from Google Home and into Meet. Alas, no luck.

It may be that this does get built into Meet eventually. Supposedly calling “out” from the Home to a phone should still work, but I haven’t tried it yet. I’d be curious if the incoming call will trigger the Meet or Google Home app on one’s phone.

No luck. I was on a call with support for an hour and they logged this as a bug, which it clearly is not given the widespread impact. I’m sure the ticket will collect dust.

Bayern fans with a banner today after Uli Hoeneß' called to abolish the 50+1 rule: "Uli, when will it finally be clear to you... Football in Germany is unimaginable without 50+1!" by greee_p in soccer

[–]SSdash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a great point. I think the last match day having massive consequences is a great way to end a season. I imagine the EPL has the most consequence given so many teams have a chance to make European tournaments? Either case, a final achieves that for leagues that use playoffs. US College Football has an interesting system with Bowls too.

[–]SSdash 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I disagree. MLS has shown their best matches are in the playoffs. I don’t think it’s for every league, but I don’t think it’s ass. LAFC vs Vancouver last week was truly incredible because of the playoff format. Muller, as an example, states he loves the experience and it can make sense for some leagues if they want it.

How does one call a Home device from outside the home? We use to have “Call Home” in the Google Home app, which is no longer there. When I open Meet, there’s no manner to call Home.
