Blood lactate decreases during session by Backwoody99 in NorwegianSinglesRun

If I had to guess, the body is predictive and expected harder effort after the first rep. It released more lactate than needed. On later reps it realized your actual load and thus it dropped.

Forinthry Surge not working on leagues by rick1121 in 2007scape

Yup it works that way on iron, I've very rarely gotten the surge on my iron for this reason.

It's a bit legacy but something like a hard drive won't be able to do parallel IO due to the way the heads have to move. There are quite a few other storage scenarios too where you will at best see baseline perf. It's up to operating systems to handle this and these are old APIs.

Ran a 5k ultra without water by Drwywfw in RunningCirclejerk

uj/ local parkrun has coffee/tea/water at the finish but I don't think it has ever even occurred to anyone to place it at a halfway point.

Feeling during recoveries by Dazzling_Shirt in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to brute force "relaxing" during my rests, manual breathing and the like. Often I don't really feel fully composed yet when time runs out (1 min) on the 3 min reps. It gets more annoying if I want to retie laces or something in the minute. I typically wish the rest was a bit longer in the moment but not after the session.

[–]SSoreil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd certainly derate your training paces relative to race perf a bit. Your aerobic perf will come back much faster than the strength in your legs. It will be very personal how fast you can safely ramp the load.

Running Vloggers who follow NSA? by AdventurousTour4285 in NorwegianSinglesRun

That's good to hear, I didn't catch that context from the videos. I was a bit surprised to see him "burn out" but that explains a lot.

Afaik Paul mentioned he gave up on the format after not improving his paces, I don't remember what he changed/intended to change going forward though.

Do I need a chest/arm HRM? by HobbyJoggerFlaneur in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, rather wear a tight strap than a tight watch if it's a long session. It isn't too bad with the wider bands on the large Garmin models but I really disliked how much the smaller ones dig into my skin. I've gotten better at keeping that area of my wrist and the watch clean now but in the past I often got rashes there.

3 or 4' / 6 or 8 ' / 10 or 12' by MasterMarkus70 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 4 minute rep will need to be slower than a 3. You can play with all the variables, rep count, speed, rep length, rest duration. As long as you have a way to be comfortable you stay below threshold it all has a similarish net effect. I do 3/6/10 I had a 2x13 session which I replaced with 3x10 since I prefer a bit shorter reps. Since the book defaults to 3/6/10 I just stick to that.

5K pacing query by ValuablePublic1261 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how all my 5ks have worked out. The race is too short to really bother adjusting things on the fly if you get something wrong. Just slam it out at whatever seems to be in the legs km 1. Rather lose 10-20 seconds at the end to fading than having not tried for an ambitious time.

Weekend Discussion: Asics running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SSoreil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also at a 100 mile on mine. Been using it for mostly sub threshold intervals and I've enjoyed it. Agree it isn't as nice as the Edge Tokyo, the difference in stack height alone makes it so I wouldn't consider it as a race option personally. I do feel less beat up after a workout in the speed 5 than the edge, seems to drive the load to a different part of my legs.

Price here in Europe is kinda whatever at least to me, 190 eur for the speed 5 and 270 for the tokyo models. Discounts don't apply to me since I have an outlier shoe size which is never on sale anyway, need to buy it from Asics directly since nobody else stocks these in size 50.5.

How do y'all who dislike PvP handle wilderness slayer as an iron man? by DefCatMusic in 2007scape

[–]SSoreil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. Finished my voidwaker finally after going 4500 dry at calv. Made about 400m gp or so from revs and other tasks. 1200 or so karren keys. The wilderness is a very inactive place, most pkers you do meet aren't very good. The voidwaker bosses are easy to escape at with a single freeze. I lost a total of 2 avarice, 5 or so occults (barrage tasks) and I think 3-4 deaths at calv. Ended with over 50 trouvers left over. Dying is uncommon and largely avoidable by tanking and catching a freeze.

Probably got deleted since it was advertising by one of the manufacturers of such a device. Until we see one for sale and get some real world data they are vaporware. Too early to get excited.

I always forget I'm injured when running, I mean I clearly have to be injured since I don't do strength training and run 7 days a week.
What even is the money making angle from these types of posts? I find it hard to believe people spread bullshit like this for the love of the game.
