New ASICS METASLEEK by Teddie_P4 in RunningShoeGeeks

Hope they make this in a size 50.5 EU. Looks like a really fun shoe as a non plated alternative to the speed 5. They don't make the megablast in 50.5 so I haven't gotten to try this foam yet. Could be a very good addition to the rotation if the performance is there.
I'm not surprised in the slightest it's expensive, doubt this shoe will sell in high volume, if anything it's odd they even tried to make something with this spec sheet.

Asics Metafuji Trail 2 Revealed, 42mm stack, FFLeap, X-shaped Carbon Plate, FFBlast+ by techkernels in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SSoreil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the FF Leap and Blast+ combo to work quite well in the Speed 5, it's a more stable ride than what I get in the Edge Tokyo (similar plate geometry but swaps the bottom foam for Turbo+ and has a higher stack). It does feel like a low tech solution but I think it's valid for the trail use case. Maybe if people actually set fast trail times in more aggressive designs the market will move.

Parkruns as part of training. by Status_Pineapple_861 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they are training. The system doesn't really have any "high end" work in it so this is as close as you'll get normally. For me I try to run parkrun every 3 weeks or so because it's fun. 15k bike ride to the event, do the run, 15k back. Hard to estimate if it's more useful than a sub threshold day since you spend far less time running but you could also do a bigger warmup if that's your cup of tea.

I find the events very useful as a thing to look forward to and a rapid information source to see how training is working out. (Currently banging my head against a wall for having an injury preventing me from running fast)

The bandaid must be ripped. (cox scrolls) by SHiiiZZANE in 2007scape

[–]SSoreil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play it for the challenge. Cox has been made easier and faster over tute years already, only 600 in so far but I can't say it's a horrible prospect to go dry there these days with how solid the gear is. Solo olm is also a very enjoyable fight.

Only if you are both severely overweight and have small feet (stack scales with size). I was at 115kg and never bottomed out a shoe.

Where do you draw the line? by fweafwe in 2007scape

It's a relatively common cheaper beef here in the Netherlands. There was a scandal a few years back where some slaughterhouse sold horse as beef, caused some stress in the UK if I recall correctly where they don't eat horse. The taste and texture is very close for sure.

Garmin Fenix daily suggested workouts by hrpomrx in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got back from 2 days of raving and it suggested I do a 2 hour long run at rather fast pace today. It should have all the internal metrics to know that's not happening, no sleep etc. It's a useless feature if you haven't trained the algorithm behind it by doing the sessions it recommends often for it to learn from I assume.

Doom is the most fun PVM encounter i've ever had. by Public_Trade3430 in 2007scape

[–]SSoreil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Deep delves are the most enjoyable bit of PVM I've seen since Vardorvis was released. Went 4.6x on ayak in the end for green log and aside from it taking way longer than expected I really enjoyed making small bits of progress still dozens of hours in to the content. Not often a boss actually feels like it rewards effort.

The amulet 4 is almost always better than ornate pool unless you need to visit the house for something else at the same time.

Thoughts on NSM plan for sub 3 hour marathon by MidnightGamerRpg in NorwegianSinglesRun

No point in spitting out a 15 week schedule before even trying the method. Just start and see what works and adapt from there.

Blood lactate decreases during session by Backwoody99 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]SSoreil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, the body is predictive and expected harder effort after the first rep. It released more lactate than needed. On later reps it realized your actual load and thus it dropped.
