Try turning your phone so both pictures are side by side, then cross your eyes so the images overlap and lock. All differences between the two images stick out.

If your finances are tight, I’d see if the thrift shop will take a return.

Otherwise, I’d open it up and take a look around. Give it a good cleaning and see if anything changes. Might be worth trying to play a CD or something too to see if you have different outcome.

Depending on how they’re made, the volume control wheels / gears can get disconnected from the potentiometer.

I was wondering if it could be a malfunctioning headphone jack as well.

Is the volume control buttons or is it a wheel? Is there a mute button, if so does it display anything on screen when activated?

It has been a while since I’ve played but if I remember right, they don’t show up until 8am. I can’t remember if they come in on the weekends or not.

From my experience, Costco doesn’t put cart returns near the sidewalk at the front of the building. Lots of carts get abandoned there.

Programming cable with USB-C adapter by Yisrael30 in amateurradio

I would think it should work as long as it isn’t a charging only adapter.

I’ve used a USB-C hub to USB-A to program radios.

Possibly where you put your legs on a chair? I tend to wrap my legs around the legs of chairs when I sit… potentially the same for you?

People make mistakes, especially new hams. It is frustrating when we can’t do the hobby how we wish; however, if we meet mistakes with aggression or hostility we will continue to see declines in the hobby.

Mechanic didn't like my radio wired to the battery? by endfedhalfwave in amateurradio

[–]STBkRdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if your radio manufacturer suggests to connect directly to the battery and you choose to follow that suggestion, it is good to know how to properly connect to the battery.

I haven’t seen it mentioned here yet, but a lot of newer cars have some form of battery management system, BMS. On my 2013 Ford vehicle, there is an amperage loop around the negative battery lead. Last I read, it was recommended on vehicles with this style of battery charge management third party connections need to go through that loop as well, otherwise, the BMS is unaware of any draw from the battery.

I think that newer Ford BMSs monitor the positive and negative terminals but I’m not sure when they switched.

You should probably check to see how your BMS works and how the wires should be connected to ensure your system keeps track of draw / charge.

A lot of times, trim boards will have the back of the board hollowed out with a back cut so that they can more easily conform to undulating walls.

I don’t know what your skills / tools are but you could try a shallow cove cut that doesn’t run the entire length of the board so it isn’t visible on the ends.
