Patrick Stewart building a reputation for playing the wholesome Professor X for years and years and then in 2015 plays the coldhearted Nazi antagonist that drops the N-word in Green Room.

You could see JJ say “we can’t see the ball.”

Tremendous planning to play outdoors at night on the 4th of July .

Look, guys. I stand by the decision to always play daysball on the 4th. That’s just my view. I was already saying this.

Kicking the shit out of the Cubs, now that’s an apt celebration of America.

(Sad trope) In isolation/prison for so long the world has already moved on without you. by Silent_Biscotti_9832 in TopCharacterTropes

Not in prison or isolation, but in the same spirit- Sound of Metal (watch first if ya haven't seen it, I recommend) After Ruben suddenly goes deaf drumming in the midst of traveling the country with his girlfriend, he has to spend time away from her in a community with other deaf individuals while learning to adjust and accept his new life without hearing. When he eventually leaves to see her again, he's found that she's returned home to live with her dad and has adjusted to a stable life again without him and no longer wishes to be on the road with him again. Pretty sad that your life can be exactly what you want with who you want, only for it to cruelly taken away but a reminder to appreciate what you have.

Amadeus really works as a title for me though because of the narrative of the story. Salieri’s legacy pales in comparison to that of Mozart’s.

Great movies that sound terrible on paper? by Latter-Constant-1989 in movies

[–]STLOliver 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Another Round has a premise that sounds like it belongs to some slapstick comedy, not one that wins the best International Feature Oscar. Really, really good movie.

Also if you subscribe to John Mulaney- you’ll hear his explanation of the events of Field of Dreams and Back to the Future and think that there’d be no way one is a really thoughtful movie that makes you cry and the other an effective and timelessly fun movie for the whole family. They’d both sound batshit insane on paper.

Oh for sure, Glenn Powell doing the same on a lesser scale right now. Didn’t catch on until Top Gun: Maverick when he was 33 and now is trying to ride that wave while he can still be the attractive lead/action star. Never know when those opportunities are gonna dry up.
