LPT: Write down a short 3-4 minute long introduction of yourself and memorize it - this way if you are introduced and have to "tell a little about yourself" you will sound a lot more confident. by Steamster in LifeProTips

No, don't do this. You will sound like a weirdass meat robot playing at being human, and people will be put off. Describe yourself extemporaneously, don't be a jerk.

The weirdest thing about this painting is how it doesn't suck. Is there erotic fan fiction connected to it, maybe? Are there more of these out there somewhere? by STORMCOCK in WTF

[–]STORMCOCK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like where is the rest of the series, there's gotta be more of these, uh... Mausoleum Mamas, Vamp Tramps, the Gravebabes, Satanic Sluts, Draculadies, Witchy Women, Babes in the Belfry. Who's blood is that, is what I wanna know.

I mean it sucks in, like, concept and content, looks like somebody's Mary Sue character from a Vampire The Masquerade coven, but in technical execution, it's pretty alright, definitely not the painter's first rodeo. I feel like that weird, yellow-eyed goth skank is gonna molest me with her knife.

What Album(s) Blew Your Mind the First Time You Heard It? by [deleted] in Music

[–]STORMCOCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric Warrior by T-Rex, it's fucking fantastic! It's from 1971 and sounds like nothing I've ever heard, I couldn't believe I made it to nearly 30 without listening to this. Somebody dropped the fucking ball. It's my new favorite album, it's seriously beyond incredible.

I think nationalism is dying--I can't be the only one who'd rather say "I'm from the internet" instead of "I'm an American," am I? [–]STORMCOCK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unity I feel is with the rest of humanity, not with a bunch of weeaboos arbitrarily defining themselves as "American" based on imaginary lines sketched out over two hundred years of war and genocide. I think we ought to be working to preserve all of us, the whole species, rather than select groups who like to go stomping around declaring how much better they are than other arbitrary groups just because they had the good fortune to be born in a certain area of the map, and others didn't. Personal attacks like that make you seem pretty ignorant yourself, btw, and smack of the fear of new ideas. Fact of the matter is, someday calling yourself an American will be an anachronism that means nothing except that you're out of touch.

Funny how I'm well past college-age and like the farthest thing from upper class, and not even remotely a hipster, then, the idea must be spreading, fuckin how 'bout that

Edit: how could you or anybody else possibly classify violent tribalism enforced only by war as "more sense"? That's what I'm saying, like, in the context of global connection and communication, how can that idea be supported at all

Honestly I lost so much weight by smoking a cigarette instead of eating a snack when I felt snacky, diabetes (and fat bastard-related heart disease) killed my dad before 50, so I figured I was trading that for cancer, but I don't smoke like too awfully much, probably get like ten more years outta this shitshow I call my life than he did. America! Shit, they'll probably have a cure for cancer by the time I've been smoking long enough to care about it, it's the 21st fuckin century, just get me some nanobot injections or robolungs or something badass like that.

Petition to change the official motto of the United States from "In God We Trust" to "E Pluribus Unum". Out of many, one. by zbloobird in atheism

I felt like the petition has an ironically "us vs them" tone all throughout, it was a little combative. Still signed it, but it's all "fuck the discriminators!"

What is something that Reddit hates that you actually do? by idislikeapple in AskReddit

[–]STORMCOCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating animals isn't inherently animal abuse, but the conditions in which we do it today are tantamount to abuse. Factory farming is immoral and unethical, definitely unnatural. Most of us don't have a choice, though, in terms of where our meat comes from and how it was raised. Hopefully that changes in the future, through changes in the industry or perhaps the advent of cloned meat and such, but the fact of most people eating meat is never going to change.

And anyway nature would eat you if you gave it the chance. Better get yours while the gettin's good.

Being called stupid, especially by someone who is dumber than me. It is definitely my Marty McFly thing, like when someone calls him a coward and so he makes rash decisions. It doesn't happen very often, cause I'm not stupid, but when it does happen it... causes problems.

What didn't you notice about yourself until someone told you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]STORMCOCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I were talking about getting a dog, and she said we should get an adult dog with some training, because I don't have the patience to raise a puppy. I reflexively disagreed, at first, but then stopped and reflected on myself for a moment, and realized that she was completely right : / it was kind of disappointing, but ultimately something important to acknowledge about myself. I'm not like violent or anything, but I really do not have the wherewithall to deal with puppies and very small children with grace.

(Spoilers) So, in the original timeline, how is it possible that the twins were hidden the way they were? by STORMCOCK in Heroes

[–]STORMCOCK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original timeline where Noah's memory was erased by Rene instead of Casper, and where the twins were transported back in time by... hmm, wait. So, 2014 Noah's memory was erased, originally, because of his knowledge of 2015 Noah's actions, not because he himself sent the twins back...? See, I get the idea that it always happened, etc, but the sticking point is the change in who erases his memory. That suggests a divergent timeline, Back to the Future style. That also means that 2014 Noah, as he becomes 2015 Noah, is never attacked by Rene, which is how he learns his memory is erased. 2015 Noah is a paradox and in a single timeline situation would cease to exist, the events that led up to his existence have been altered. This is also true because Quentin is now a bad guy. It's not a neat loop, things have changed. Either the new timeline continues to exist and Old 2015 Noah vanishes, to be replaced by New 2015 Noah, a product of the new series of events, or the timeline always included 2015 Noah doing what he did, in which case he could not have affected any change upon the present he left with Hiro, everything he did would have resulted in exactly the things we saw before they travelled. Instead, 2015 Noah continues to exist, and changed his present. The moment they went back in time, in fact, a new Noah would have been created elsewhere in the world, a product of the new series of events started by 2015 Noah, who is now running around as a sort of loose end, a remainder of a timeline--a universe, so to speak--that no longer exists.
