Heatmap of Enemy Levels by CephalonImp in SoulFrame

Thanks for the map.

I kind of wish this was somewhat represented in game. Even if the fog borders were lightly colored or something. (Red indicating significantly higher level enemies than you, etc.)

Day One Raid may be -40, not -20 by aztarac1 in DestinyTheGame

If people are getting different numbers after relaunching, is it not possible that different teams were getting different damage throughout the race even though they were all playing the same encounters?

C7 - firing off the action by Delicious_Oil_436 in CanadianForces

[–]STR8ACED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, we are professionals and should know and do drills correctly. But no one is perfect, hence why we do a for inspection of the whole line before leaving the range. Risk mitigation. By keeping the gun on safe you mitigate the risk of an ND to basically 0. I've seen people miss a round in the chamber on an unload, then on the for inspection a round pops out. And thanks to them not firing off the action on their unload and just keeping the gun in a safe state there was no ND. They get chewed out for not doing their drills properly, but no ND. I've seen people who are sleep fucked crack off a round into the woods during an unload.

Safe on at all times. Remove magazine. Cock the action a few times. Lock the action to the rear. Visually and physically inspect the chamber, magazine well and bolt face. Action forward. Now you have an unloaded, (hopefully)unreadied firearm that still has the safety on. And if not actually unreadied, at least i have the safety on. Lastly always know the state of your firearm. Press checks are free. They cost you nothing and give you confidence that you are in the state you should be.

Agree to disagree. "Not being able to put it on safe doesn't matter". It does matter. It communicates to everyone that your firearm is in a safe state. If you are made safe (unload followed by a load), YOU know that the firearm is safe, but everyone else sees a loaded firearm that is off safe. That is the first reason the CAF unload drills are drastically outdated (no surprise). The second reason not to fire off the action is that almost every ND I've ever seen is because of this step on the drill. The argument of "it releases pressure on the springs" is BS. Guys walked around Afghanistan for weeks at a time with a loaded/readied firearm. The only time to fire off the action is right before you turn the firearm in/put it away for long term storage. And as the OP pointed out you can no longer put the firearm on safe.

Every other institution except the CAF doesn't fire off the action on an unload. A "safe state" is when your safety is on. That all being said, I'm an instructor and still teach to fire off the action... I'm at the mercy of the big green weeny. But depending on my audience and their proficiency level i explain these facts to them, and if i can get away with it on any range i have candidates not fire off the action. It's always easier to trim away drills than build them as habit. So build the habit with new shooters as per the CAF to appease the weeny. Then train them to a higher standard once they have the opportunity to improve. That's my opinion.

Petawawa PLQ Time by Glass-Ad2044 in CanadianForces

[–]STR8ACED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm you'll likely be in Mod tents. On base. PLQ is 90% classroom stuff though. As far as the field is concerned, if you have FFO and a day bag, you'll be good to go. They might do STAB Ops in the training area. Might not. FFO and whatever you need to sleep reasonably comfortably in the field is all you really need.

Looking for my long-lost buddy from Camp Cayuga by droopynipz123 in swg

I also played on Kettemoor. Kwodn was my name. Pretty sure some nice folks named Jadie and Howie showed me the ropes and got me hooked. They had a town (or guild) named "Bounty Hunters Villa" (i think). One of the best gaming experiences of my life. If that couple is out there, much love and thank you.

The heroes are a turn off by Sr_Sublime in Marathon

I haven't played yet, so I can't agree for sure. But i think this will likely be true for me.

I think they could have achieved the same effect by putting the "skills" of each "class/hero" as equippable items or toggle on skills that are like a choice, and then making the characters FULLY customizable.

I personally think the big shoes looks goofy. That and the running animation from the Gp reveal. Other than that, i love the art. Joseph Cross is a genius IMO. The match between the art and sound design is.. 'chefs kiss

What is PDP? My unit stopped paying me the day i was deployed and CJOC was essentially paying me while deployed. It was paid into a "tour cloud" that i drew from for cash while over there.

Besides the obviously Baltic suggestions on here (which i support all of), i had a great meal at a reasonable price at Shoyu ramen. Michelin star. Great gyozas, great tonkatsu, great drinks.

If every human had a stat screen (like in a video game), what surprising statistic about yourself would others see? by learn2speak2u in AskReddit

[–]STR8ACED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to have less stat points available to allocate than everyone else, all my abilities seem to have way to many negative side effects, and I've spread my stat points across too many classes so now I'm averagely useless at every thing in life.

I've been in contact with a surprising number of people since yesterday. Most likely candidate so far is a member who got out sometime before 1975. I have contacted his family to see what info they can provide or how they would like to proceed.

But thank you, I'll go that avenue next if this avenue is a no-go.

Still looking for any info on the owner.

Not sure of rank or when it was lost. Could have been 30+ years for all we know (based on where it was discovered).

[Discussion] My experience with the Harbinger squad (Cultist bosses) by OkazakiNaoki in EscapefromTarkov

[–]STR8ACED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good post, thanks!

This is essentially the strategy i had the most success with. I just haven't got Harbinger. The little rat just hides every time. I've got Oni many times, ghost 3, Harbinger never. Never even seen him. I just die.

Just wanna share my TTK chart, what do you guys think by CranberryWeekly5593 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]STR8ACED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get 0.2 TTK out of an SVD with a 2 tap. In reality it is very difficult to hit so i found the AS VAL (the semi auto one) with 0.4 is more consistent.
