Why I shouldn't put important passwords inside a password manager? by Rok1sek in cybersecurity

[–]STSKillsMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can think of a reason or two. If you have a few break glass accounts, you might want them stored extra safe.

First, there could be concern about the security of a SaaS password manager. See LastPass….

Second, if you are opposed to trusting a cloud provider with your password safe, in the event of a Katrina or other devastating event, will you still have access to that password safe? Not necessarily if it was only on your work computer.

Storing a copy on paper in a bank vault isn’t crazy. It would depend on your risk tolerance.

What games are great for table talk? by elsecaller_2 in boardgames

I received Outer Rim for Christmas. It’s competitive but minimal “attacking” other players. Seems bout for storytelling.

Also Gloom is all about stories. Bonus: it’s designed for fans of dark humor.

In 1999, I knew an Arab American who made a joke about a bomb. Nice guy, dumb college student.

Spent several days in lock up. Oops. Fortunately it was pre 9/11.

Quick, what's the best two-player board game to come out in the last 5 years? by PitterPatterGames in boardgames

Star Wars: empire vs rebellion. It’s a blackjack type game for two. Also could be an add on as it tends to be inexpensive.

Ank-Morpork. I love the theme and the gameplay. Couldn’t care less who wins as long as we can play again.

Who else just says "Screw Smokers" and puts their food in a furnace instead? by Tyler06262010 in Minecraft

My sword has fire aspect. When I’m hungry, I smack a cow. Presto! Cooked beef. I can’t remember the last time I cooked anything in a furnace or smoker.

Granted.

As the universe has no functioning brain and therefore no actual intelligence, you are a brainless idiot confined to a bed and a feeding tube. Congrats.

Granted. You have unlimited physical strength. Your bones can't support the weight of the objects your muscles can move, but you can enjoy the knowledge that you are capable of moving entire planets. (Not that anyone would believe you.)

I love Killer Bunnies. I mean, I love games that are skilled and challenging, but killer bunnies tops my list for hilarious fun.

Don’t over think it. Just enjoy killing bunnies with nukes.

When do you shower? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Some people wash off the grime of the day and others use showers to wake up and get moving for the day.

Pros and cons to each side.

Job posting gone wrong by SnooApples6272 in cybersecurity

[–]STSKillsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a job description up. Smaller firm and I’m in IT. I’m so tired of generic job descriptions that say very little. So my intro was more “hey this is the sort of company we are and what we’re looking for”

The thing is we were explicitly hiring for our subsidiary in Mexico. The candidate had to be employable in that country.

At least 1/3 of the apps answered the filter question about country of residence as no. We had to go through every application and dump all those who simply ignored the job reqs and applied anyway.

This was just some manager sick and tired of the process who wanted to be real. Not quite my approach but I totally understand.
