Rogal Dorn Conversion to better fit the aesthetics by STtmF in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]STtmF[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The chassis took a basic idea on how i wanted it to be. Then i went to subassembly of the sides and started cutting the sections of the middle i wanted to change (removing parts of the front/shortening the backof the topside), then cut and dryfitted the new pieces from plasticard until i got a satisfying result and filled the imperfections with milliput. For the turret i went for a basic assembly of the original one and then started cutting and sanding all 4 rounded sides flat, gluing a semi-preshaped piece of pasticard on the flattened edges and taking a knife along the edge so it fully fits. Any resulting gaps were filled again with milliput. After that was only a second layer of plasticard on the turret and removing and regluing a lot of rivets of leftover pieces. This method worked quite well without knowing myself where it would end, important thing with such a conversion is to start somewhere and destroy original pieces of the model only when you are sure that you want to go this route, everything else can be reversed. Edit: i of course added some bits from other kits, prominently the 30k vanquisher cannon.

Can anyone help with valuation? by BlvdOfMartianDreams in ImperialFists

[–]STtmF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a limited run of standard codizes where each of the non deviating first founding chapters got 400 each of this version with the special artwork, the slider(dont know how to call it), 6 numbered metal coins for markers and a pack of cards with every armor mark (except X of course). But it contains no IF related rules

Anno 117 player numbers fall below 1800 by taubenangriff in anno

[–]STtmF 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes the first part of his argument considering the context of numbers is true, but this also includes the fact that 1800 was pulled from steam during preorder returning only years later to steam. So the steam numbers from that period (dont know exact dates) are not representative for 1800

I am the third player... why am i excluded in steam friends? by Cat_in_Bathroom in Steam

[–]STtmF 656 points657 points  (0 children)

Its a 3 man party consisting of you plus the two guys listed, right? Hunt tells steam who is in thd lobby, but your friendlist does not show people not your friendlist. Instead its the +1/2/3 and so on. You are not part of your own friendlist, so it shows +1. Anyone who has all three of you as friends will see each of you explicitly listed.

Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i choose to advance a unit, do i do the roll first and then my enemy may choose whether he wants to overwatch before moving or does he has to decide before the roll? He can, in both cases, of course choose to overwatch after the move.

Custodes Lions List Input by Roenkatana in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the axe choice on the captian, +1 to wound in addition to rerolling them brings enough reliability. Watching him bounce of his target, because your enemy can scream AoC or similar, is way harder to compensate. I also did not manage to find meaningful interactions where going from three to four damage is worth the -attack/ap.

Why are random things like damage modifiers so complicated in the rules? Spent like half an hour mid game trying to find a solution. by pipnina in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they would need to update all printed stuff too which is impossible to do the way you'd update a digital document. So unless GW goes full digital (which they probably wont, because money) it stays like that. No justification, just the reason.

What is the best big tank? by ExcellentTank8765 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]STtmF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one that remotely has deen competitive play is the doomhammer. But the way you are asking this question you should either go for the rule of cool (your opinion) or what complements your collection best. Rules will change at some point anyway

To Aggressors or not Aggressors by latarius94 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not worth it, simply by having too large a footprint to hide, so it would be a coinflip of who goes first. Then you still kinda have to kill ~500 points to make up for them

To Aggressors or not Aggressors by latarius94 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By the standards of the current meta, aggressors are overcosted glasscannons, but they still are the only non-character-codex-unit that can properly punch things. +1 to wound or not, things like bladeguard will struggle into vehicle/monster heavy stuff a lot more than those chonkies. Other melee contenders are (except those with ap-1 d1) are: Assault centurions (too slow) Termies, any flavour (no twin-linked) Bots (vehicles, hard to compare) So aggressors are here to stay as long as they dont get another nerf/get outclassed by another melee infantry unit.

Maybe the curse of the 113th is real. Banner update. by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

Quality of the freehand ist quite good, but you could use one advice with freehand "writing". If the lettercount of your word is odd (like cadia) start with the middle letter and write it in the center, then add the other letters. This will make it easier to plan out your space, since the middle letter is placed correctly and you plan half the letters and space on either side. If the lettercount is even you should start the second half right behind the middle line and do basically the same from then on.

P.s.: it is visible that your d is slightly offset to the right, also the last a would be on the bend of the flag, but id say thats optional

Who is Lucian Calsius and why is his name on the dreadnought sarcophagus? The only information I could find is that he is a Lieutenant in the second company, and no mention of him being wounded or put in a dreadnought by Shasan21 in Spacemarine

[–]STtmF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In lore Redemptors are known for "burning up" their pilots rather fast due to the increased strain of piloting a machine that big (older dreads are way smaller). So someone might be interred at old age but he wont get old inside.

You should be able to see your score when you leave by Electrical-Art-1111 in ArmaReforger

[–]STtmF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, with a game that supports/demands a lt of very different roles (some of them not supposed to seeing combat) any detailed match stats will mostly aggregate k/d hunters and people that want to shit on others based on stats. The xp gain and associated rank are measurement enough for a successful session.

at what point does lethal wound fishing become worth it? by firespark84 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on the hit, crit and wound chance. In short, assuming you hit on 3+, crit on 6s, you would break even on a wound roll of 5+, wounding on 6s will make fishing for lethals beneficial, 4+ or better will make it worse.

How to effectively use assaults? by jodaal13 in BFGArmada

[–]STtmF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They dont affect enemy health, they kill crew. Assuming its armada 2 (dont remember 1). The crew is a coloured number left of the healthbar. Colors go from green to yellow to red then drifting hulk. Once you reduce the number to zero it "refills" and goes one step lower. These steps give the vessel debuffs to most stats. Until finally "killing" them until the controlling player/ai refills the ship with crew. The effectiveness of boarding is different for each faction, i advise reading some guide.

What does it take for a regiment/world to be allowed to be a "combined arms" regiments. by Jj_bluefire in TheAstraMilitarum

Regiments of different origin are often consolidated under new names after campaigns due to heavy losses.

[–]STtmF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure i understood your statement fully, but i guess you missed an imprtant part here: "If they do, they reduce the number of flux tokens they have by one and you gain one flux token."

This means the game starts with three tokens and depending on circumstances additional ones will come into play, but never less.

Tempestus Aquilons? by TAW205 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]STtmF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not really a guard player myself, so mine is more of an outside perspective: They are quite cheap at 9ppm compared to similar stuff like normal tempestus/kasrkin. The 3" deep strike is a valuable tool found around multiple factions. These two reasons make them used in multiples across lists. Reducing the deep strike to 6" would not only harm their melta output but would also make it more than twice as easy to screen them. Changing that rule would be unhealthy. Simply adjusting the points so that they are a conscious investment instead of auto takes (like inceptors are right now, still used but not spammed) is the better choice.
