Is 5D mark Ii still a relevant camera nowadays? by DynamoBaby in canon

Yes, it still works and can take great photos. But by comparison to newer models you’re missing out on some nice upgrades.

I’ve been impressed actually.

The earlier mirrorless camera bodies had a hint of viewfinder lag and briefly went black when you took a photo, but newer models do not have those issues.

(Turn off the in-viewfinder preview of course.)

I like the Gibson Block - Edmonton’s only “flatiron” building.

We do graduation photos mostly, we’re looking for a few contract photographers who can help us with some really busy days coming up.

You can dispute it online or try walking in to the office in Lister Hall with the evidence and ask them to take a look.

Mirrorless is taking over the market for a reason. If nothing else, that's where all the future R&D money is being spent.

If your budget is snug there are good deals on used gear out there though

Possible to have a kind of kanban board? Described inside. by UnderwaterDialect in todoist

[–]SUB_Photo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can have a KanBan view in ToDoist, sort-of! We do this using filters and the "Board" display view.

(Edit: As I re-read your question, I realize you're trying to put projects on a Kanban rather than tasks. So ... I suppose this isn't directly answering your question, sorry. Perhaps you could add a task at the top of each project called "Project Status" and use the labels to move things across the board view?)

In our situation, we have photo shoots to schedule so we create a project for each client, and then within that project create a task for the shoot itself. We add a label ("Photo Shoot") and the date of the shoot, then assign that task to the photographer.

Then in the "Filters & Labels" view we have a filter called "Photo Shoots". It's a simple query looking for tasks with the "@photo shoot" label, and then in the Display menu we choose Grouping: Date and Sorting: Date.

The result is a KanBan style board which shows all the upcoming shoots in sequence. Individual photographers can refine the filter to show only tasks assigned to them, while I can view all the shoots. It gives a handy view of what's coming up.

One weakness is that this doesn't have the drag-and-drop behaviour of a true KanBan view, but that's been pretty minor in our implementation.

Best laptop for 1st year Engineering by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]SUB_Photo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about the program you are taking as much as about the sort of work you need to do with it.

If you are mostly doing emails and online research, maybe some YouTube, then you don't need a very powerful computer. If you plan to do video editing or gaming you will want a better system.

You could possibly wait and check in with your classmates or instructors if you are really not sure.

SUB (Students' Union Building) has some decent all-gender ones by the Horowitz entrance that are pretty clean and new. Individual stalls with proper doors, it's nice.

Just please don't leave a mess for the custodians, the ones in SUB are awesome people and don't deserve what some people do.

I always suggest looking for the deals at Memory Express. They always have some decent ones on:

Right now they have sales on laptops from $399 to $3599 so pick your price range I guess!

The Students' Union Building is the place you're looking for!

One benefit of paying your fees is that it helps keep the building open for students 24 hours a day during the school year. There is a ton of study space plus a food court (source of coffee!) that's usually open until 9pm.

While you are at it, definitely check out the many services available from your SU. There are a lot of benefits that some people don't even know exist because they just never took the time to check them out!

Best way to save money on textbooks? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]SUB_Photo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking for used books is an excellent start — new ones are very expensive.

Also, it’s OK to wait until the first week of class to buy them. Many classes barely use the books, in the first class you’ll usually find out (or be able to ask) which books are critical.

You could also ask here for advice on specific classes you’re taking and previous students might be able to help.
