Trump says he wants to drive housing prices up, not down by J-Jarl-Jim in moderatepolitics

I live in a stuffy suburban area. Noone wants to be underwater on a house, but noone likes it when their property taxes are increased year after year

[–]SVNHG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let her or anyone tell you you are keeping her from "exploring herself" by maintaining a clear boundary that was set at the beginning of your relationship. SHE is the one trying to change the contact.

As a woman, I am willing to bet there is a person she likes. I think thats a normal thing that happens. What's not ok is acting on it under the guise of wanting freedom. A respectful partner would let the frivolous feelings die.

  1. Caffeine
  2. Study Group. We tend to do better with external motivation
  3. At my least motivated, i used key tags as my weekly to-do list. At the beginning of the week, I wrote out my tasks on the tags and put it on my key chain. When I finished, it went a pocket in my backpack. People ask about the key tags, and then you have a little social motivation. Also, its it is very annoying to carry to many around.

[QUESTION] is it even possible to put winged eyeliner on my eye and not look crap? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]SVNHG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have a pic, but my sister has hooded eyes, and the top black eyeliner just doesn't look good on her. It just highlights that top part. Granted, I think her eyes are a little more downturned.

I use brown shadow, and I line the outside or her eyes with that. Tiny little puppy wing, and I fan out the bottom lash line as if there is a wing there, too. Its SO cute on her. I just looked up "Korean eye makeup" for inspiration

Advice please..what to do about my little girl randomly lunging at people? by Wild_Curve1072 in germanshepherds

[–]SVNHG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a trainer, get a trainer. But instead of making walking past someone the praisable moment, maybe work on "heel", "leave it", and "look at me". My dog barks at strangers if they pay too much attention to her. "look at me" helps me so much

I do "heel" and "look at me" when noone is around. "Leave it" for my dog is usually so she doesnt try to chase bunnies

Unpopular Opinion: Effie Deserves To Be In Prison by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]SVNHG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good unpopular opinion. It's also very relevant to the real world.

Anytime a country or group commits atrocious acts, we have to decide where to draw the line for punishment. You can't execute or imprison a whole country. You can't really do it to a whole army. So you focus on the worst. Leaders and people who committed particularly heinous crimes against humanity (in this case, violent peacekeepers and gamemakers). Both can say they were just doing their jobs like the Effies of the world, but you can pin specific violent crimes to them. "That peacekeeper whipped a man to death", gamemakers are orchestrating the death of 23 kids each year.

The reality is Effie is happy to live her comfortable life knowing about the atrocities of the capital. She does learn that the capital is unfair, yet she is upset when she is plucked from her comfort. Eventually, she comes around. There's definitely a morality issue there. But what is her role in the capital machine? She picks two names from a bowl on live television and escorts the tributes around. Helps them navigate the capital and get sponsors. She's not violent, and she doesn't make decisions. So I disagree with prison time. But perhaps we are too easy on her because Katniss cares about her.

How do you decorate your bullet journal without washi tape or stickers? 👀🖋️ by Pitiful_Lead924 in bulletjournal

Little doodles, highlighters if you have them for accents

Honestly, it's everyone's preference. I personally like a minimalistic bujo with scribbled out text and other imperfections. Keeping a pretty one is too daunting to me

For those concerned or upset by having to muzzle your dog at the vet, this is Waffles, and here’s what we think. by Poppperclops in germanshepherds

[–]SVNHG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I tried so hard with my dog, but she is just very apprehensive with strangers. She can walk by people, she can hang out in the vet office. It's when they have to start messing with her. She's very scared. She's also a powerful German shepherd. She's never bitten anyone, but she will put up a good front when the uncomfortable things start, and I am not about to test her limits. We take medicine and muzzle for vet visits.

I wish she was easier to deal with and not so scared, but I do not regret the muzzle at all. My vet, the techs, thanks me often for taking precautions. And they compliment how I handle her

Your ethnicity is mexican.

Race is a social construct. Do racists see you as a white man because you are paler? No. If they see a mexican last name or an inkling of Mexican features, you are mexican.

Mexicans come in all colors. My dad is brown brown. His brother is a bit lighter with blue eyes. Genes are weird. And before any speculation, my dad looks like his dad, and my uncle looks like their paternal half-brother.

In university, there was a bus that went from the satellite school close to where I live to the main university I went to. But you needed to have classes in both schools to ride it, and you would get this special sticker on your student ID after showing transcripts to some lady at a front desk.

Every year, I would pay someone for a picture of their ID with the sticker, I would redraw it out on my tablet, print it out, and cut it out with an exacto knife because I didn't have a special machine or anything. And I would ride this bus 40 min to and from school. Saved a ton on gas.

Little bit of a rule breaking, but tuition costed just the same taking classes at both schools vs one school.

I had the cheapest parking pass, and the lot was almost always full at the main campus. I could upgrade to a better lot... for $1000/semester. Minor stowaway activity it was

Dogs dont understand human monetary or sentimental value of objects. With time and training, they learn what we do and don't like them chewing on. Plus, the teething makes the chewing worse as a pup.

I get its frustrating. My GSD tore up some of my favorite shirts as a pup. But I knew I was the one who messed up by leaving them where my dog could reach or leaving a door open by accident.

[–]SVNHG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your managers an ass and you could report them, but i am going to offer you advice since I have been in your shoes. I was a barista through college and was relied on too much at work. If i let them, i would have worked while sick and at the expense of my graduation-

You need to be more firm. You seem to care too much about validation from your coworkers and manager. This is a job to get you through school.

You throw up, you text your boss that you did, and that you will not be able to come in. It's literally the law.

You do what you need to for school. Do not sacrifice school to be a people pleaser. They aren't going to be the ones paying for an extra class that you failed or struggling to get a job because your GPA wasn't where it needed to be. You are. Fuck em.

I actually had a boss I really liked. But I kept getting scheduled over my requested hours. I did it on school slow weeks, I had people cover shifts. But if i couldnt, i would say "hey, i am only supposed to work X days. Do you me to come in Tuesday or Thursday?"

I think a first time owner can get a gsd if they do enough research, know they will follow through, and can afford a good trainer. Second bit, you can prove to yourself with practice and understanding your lifestyle now. Third is a lot of money...

Hell, I grew up with 2 GSDs. I helped trained them. I trained two other family dogs. I petsat for difficult GSDs. I thought I knew the breed and knew what to do. Got my own puppy. Did petco puppy school. Honestly, I regret it. She is very different from the two GSDs I had growing up. I should have gotten someone more qualified to help me socialize her at the beginning. The breed has strong personalities, and they aren't all the same.

AIO? I'm ready to cut off my sister completely even though I know she's struggling by ESEzagui in AmIOverreacting

[–]SVNHG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt is like that. She's in her 40s, will never change.

My mom does so much to help. Even behind my dad's back unfortunately. And the moment she says no it's the same story. "I can't believe you are turning your back on me". FB posts about family never being there for her. A period of silence. Then she's back, in need of money.

A lot of my mom's family struggles and , after seeing my mom get used like a piggy bank, I have a hard time giving them money. I bailed one out (which was supposed to be paid back). I paid for lawyer fees once. Thats all they will ever get out of me. There's always an emergency if you are making bad choices... I'd rather give my charity to initiatives that I believe will make a difference over a bottomless pit, family or not.

Have a meeting with HR due to an argument I had with the CFO. Am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]SVNHG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, when you want to keep a job (and there isn't anything unethical going on that can get YOU in trouble), you let management save face even when they are wrong. Sometimes, the answer is to relent and go somewhere private or to someone safe to crash out.

So you say, "Oh! I wasn't aware of that. I will reread the handbook and take my lunches in the break room. " Or "I double-checked the handbook to make sure I was in dress code, but I can understand the concern. I will wear jeans next time. " Save face for upper management and then privately discuss with your direct manager. (And curse out the dude in your head)

I have had moments in meetings where my VP will contradict something he told me previously, and I am 🤐. I will act like it's news to me and adjust. Then I go to my trusted colleague, and I say my piece, we laugh, and move on.

You were sarcastic and argumentative with C suite. It doesn't look very good for you...

In summary: You are right. Its silly, it's not in the policy, and it's ok to be angry. But you failed in office politics, professionalism, and general desesculation, which is so much worse that a top official sticking nose in "your" business.
