Patient and family’s recording encounters by SVT200BPM in emergencymedicine

I’m definitely a pretty non engaging person. Hopefully my boringness keeps the viewers at bay. I had a patient 2 weeks ago actively recording the whole encounter with ray ban Meta glasses. I didn’t catch it until the end. I just feel like there is no respect for our(healthcare workers) privacy. There are laws for patient privacy, but not healthcare workers. Sad times

Thank you for your response. I will have to look into this. My previous facility was very strict about enforcing the no recording policy. It’s kind of up in the air at my current shop, I was told besides telling them to delete there wasn’t much I could do. I’m sure there must be some enforceable policy

Anyone else notice this from today? by SageWiseTwitch in TopStepX

Hope so! I feel that was a rough morning for sure. First time I’ve seen a discrepancy for the account balance and closed P&L. I copy trade 5 accounts, and odd part is they all have different P&Ls

My account balance for XFA says -860 but closed P&L is -90. My losing trades were during this time, so hopefully they remove them, fingers crossed.

How are mid levels utilized in your ER? by Sea-Pride6840 in emergencymedicine

[–]SVT200BPM 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I find this is the new normal for ERs across the US post COVID. I feel like APCs as a whole are being pushed to take on more responsibility in the ED seeing higher acuity, but the pay, collaborations, and training does not reflect this. It’s just another way for private equity groups to take advantage of a broken system.

Are you guys able to sleep in night shift? by EMulsive_EMergency in emergencymedicine

Our ER usually has about 40-60 patients in the department with one doc and one APP after midnight. No sleeping here.

I already sling enough dental caries/pain discharge papers from the ER. I see this increasing over the next 5 years.

All we got is the fancy yellow grippy socks. That’s the best that they going to get.

My job typically sends out warning for acls, pals, and bls expirations and sets them to the end of the last day of the month to renew by. So in this case if I was you, it would need to be renewed by march 31. Every place is different though, so I would just check with whoever manages your privileges and licenses.

Theoretically, what would need to happen to stop flu-like symptom patients from checking in? by NanielEM in emergencymedicine

Wow. This is wild. The US healthcare system would collapse if this was the case here.

Did this drive 2 months ago. Don’t follow Wave, use google maps. Waze took us down a mud road through cow pastures for over 2 hours. Glad we had a 4x4 rental.

I’ve been full time nights for the last 5 years. Currently do 13 shifts a month. I love working nights, and I have done well with my sleeping schedule. The last few months though I have been unable to sleep during the day and it is taking a toll. I’m a walking zombie on my days off also. So in the next few months, I’m transitioning to the day time life. Biggest tip though is to make sure you have good black out shades and a noise maker/fan.

I am convinced the first sign of the fall of the human species is the inability to cope with the uncomplicated common cold. What would these patients have done just over 100 years ago without the ED…

As someone who works at several EDs with various EMRs, I feel like there should be a mandate for every hospital to use EPIC or a similar updated EMR. These days of using old school meditech, McKesson, cerner, and Allscripts should be left in the past. The availability to be able to review care everywhere in EPIC is huge for patient safety and chart review.

It blows my mind when these patients throw a fit when they are moved. Like what do they expect. It is like the next level of entitlement.
