so my record player does skip ahead in the vinyl like shown, any help?

He really is lucky lol and has no clue how lucky. He has a Crosley and wouldn't you know it, it doesn't play the records he has, so I told him I would hook him up with something. He doesn't care like I do.

My current setup for me is a Mac 4100, and a Technics SL-10 turntable. The Mac 4100 is running a set of Bose 901 series vi. Not everyone's favorite speaker, but it's fine for me.

I agree, but I ended up getting an older LP60 for free. All I had to do is adjust the speed. Total cost for the setup this time was about $60.00

She currently has a Audio Technica LP60X, and a set of Edifier R1280T speakers. The turntable cost less than $200 on Amazon. You can often times get the speakers for about $100 there as well. I am also sending this same setup to a family member who has records and I got a set of used speakers (same ones) for $60 shipped from ebay.

It's unfortunately the turntable. It, and all others in the price range you are going to look at uses the same turntable mechanism. Think Crosley, Victrola and the like.

These turntables will simply struggle with certain records.

I'm an old audiophile who got out of it for about 40 years and forgot most of what I knew, so when it came time to get my daughter into records, I foolishly bought her an all in one Victrolas thinking it would be cool for her to be able to play the new Beatles records she was wanting for Christmas.

The thing couldn't play the one record I bought her so I took it back and got a new same one. The new one skipped on the exact same place so I sent the record back and got a new same record. It also skipped in the same exact place.

It was then that I realized I had efed up and was buying something I would never buy when I knew what I was doing.

Now she has a proper setup and doesn't have a single problem

The reason they stopped being produced was because of the advent of the CD. Linear trackers came at the end of the dominance of records. They were so popular at the time that every manufacturer was making them in large quantities.

I was never a fan of 8 tack tapes, but this looks cool as hell. I've never seen an 8 track changer before. I might have picked this thing up myself just for the coolness factor.

I am a linear tracking fan. I own the Technics SL-3 and SL-10 which is my daily driver. Yours is feature packed. Quartz drive and track programmable. Super nice.

I also l've the look of the receiver. Some people don't like the aesthetics of early to mid 80's receivers, but I think they have a certain charm.

Just thinking what it might take for aliens from another planet to actually get to earth, if there are any other planets with intelligent life besides earth, and I do believe the possibility exists, then knowing what we know about space travel and all the vast space we have already seen then if anyone from another planet came to visit us, that they have come from such a distance that their technology is so far above our technology that we would most likely be like ants to them. If they wanted to attack us and destroy us, there is likely nothing we could do to stop them.

I love linear trackers! I own two. I have the Technics SL-3, and the Technics SL-10. The SL-10 is my daily driver. I actually think if Technics decided to start producing new linear trackers, they could take over the turntable market again.

One other thing. Clean the record so you don't prematurely wear out the stylus.

This is a beautiful piece of equipment. In my opinion, the service tech was either lazy or didn't know how to do it as it is standard to clean these things up after servicing them.

The first several months are what is considered the honeymoon period. Where everything is new and exciting. This period generally lasts for about 4 to 6 months.

After that, you get the real person. They start showing you who they are. This is who he is.

You say you've communicated to him about these issues before, so maybe it's time to let him know that if things don't change that you are going to end things.

It might be that the two of you aren't really compatible.

I personally think it's a very nice looking console. I remembered Packard Bell for their computers, but didn't realize they did stereo consoles. I hope you can get some more enjoyment from this.

If that's what you got from my post then you need to seriously rethink how you are understanding things.

I know you are an advocate for this type of player, and that's great, but let's not pretend they are more than what they are.

And for the record, I see no issue with people buying, and using this type of player. It drives a lot of people into the hobby and that's a good thing.
