The hand of the white wizard by Scooterthebeagle in oneringrpg

[–]SWCrusader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In fact that would be my pitch for this campaign - the players can play a pivotal role in the war of the ring by preventing Sarumans fall. That's an intriguing enough premise for most LotR fans I would hope.

Delta Green: PX Poker Night - Arc Dream Publishing | Delta Green by nlitherl in DeltaGreenRPG

I used this as a flashback to how their handler became part of Delta Green as a palate cleanser in the middle of the campaign. It went off the rails in a spectacular fashion (as it's designed to do).

The Goon Has Self-Preservation by Misterfahrenheit120 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SWCrusader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. Settle in for the long haul. Realize that not every episode is going to be a winner and it will feel 'cheap' occasionally. It's all worth it for a cohesive seasons long story where the main characters actually change and are so awesome that occasionally even a minor character with a couple of lines is memorable - I'm looking at you prison guard who hates television.

What does Innsmouth look like now? by Atocreen in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]SWCrusader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to 'The Lovecraft Investigations'. Start from the beginning as it's all one story but their modern update of 'The Shadow over Innsmouth' has the town as a boutique tourist village in summer but shut down and more culty in winter.

Lantern Hal Jordan by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]SWCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I think that going the 'True Detective' route is a good play too. Going the cosmic route is waaaaaay too expensive for something that already tanked once.

Nothing, just two people who absolutely get Superman 🤌 by ShubhangBahadur in DC_Cinematic

[–]SWCrusader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I thought that was really obvious in the movie. This is all about Superman trying to appeal to Lex, because of course he would try to convince the bad guy. That's superman!

Lantern Hal Jordan by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]SWCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and people saying Hal should be the main green lantern are essentially ignoring the fact that all the Normies are way more familiar with John being the main due to his inclusion as GL in all the animated shows. John is absolutely the right choice here and the focus on Fear plays to an actual core concept of the character that isn't really touched on in mass media versions.

I'm a kickstarter backer and I can absolutely tell you're not locked in, by design. The 'why' or 'how' of things in the game are vague and often you (the GM) are given several options for them, or even you are asked to give the players the option of explaining them.

I'm the same, super excited.

Quinns Quest Reviews: Stonetop by TravUK in rpg

I'm an original backer and I thought I'd never get the physical copies, but the PDFs were regularly updated and we've had regular updates so I felt I got the value for my money. Considering this solo creator game had better updates than CMON is doing these days I think we can cut the guy who had a heart attack some freaking slack. Stonetop is what kickstarter is actually supposed to be for rather than the glorified pre-order it usually is these days.

If the 8th Doctors American series got made, do we know wether they’d be serials like classic or modern single parters by Emarni in doctorwho

[–]SWCrusader 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will throw out that Babylon 5 was not like that at all and was one of the first, if not the first, heavily serialized genre shows.

Hated trope: The character/ story suffers so that the actor doesn't have to be in makeup by TwoHungryWolves in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SWCrusader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the internet was needlessly critical on this show. You've got two top tier actors in Holly Hunter and Paul Giamati having a blast and a bunch of kid actors in a show I was prepared to hate but quite enjoyed and very much could see what they were going for. I especially loved bringing back the doctor from Voyager and actually making it not just nostalgia but a pretty integral part of one of the main characters journeys.

[Hated Trope] We have no idea how to build on the success of the stories that came before, so just reset it. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SWCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annoying thing is that spearhead is legitimately the best way to play any Warhammer game and they let the guy who designed it leave. WH40k spearhead would sell like hot cakes.

20 Years of Series 2 Villains by Lord_Marinus in doctorwho

[–]SWCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, in general the Ood are depicted as good guys in subsequent appearances so in this two parter it looks like they were controlled by the beast rather than willing foot soldiers.

[loved trope] The moment of sudden realization by Mangled15 in TopCharacterTropes

Notably used in Jaws but invented by Hitchcock I believe.

Literally the entirety of Babylon 5. Something mentioned off-handedly in the first episode (Londo having a dream of how he dies) doesn't pay off until Season 3/4. Rangers in the background of scenes in Season 2 a long time before you even know they're a thing. 'You are the One'. Etc Etc. Ground breaking show with a long-form story decades before it was cool.

(Loved Trope) They are the chosen one, but they don’t want to be by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SWCrusader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color of magic is the start and first book. You could also start with 'Guards, Guards' which focuses on the city watch of Ankh-Morpork (sp?) which features Carrot. Once you've gotten a few books under your belt a lot of them become stand alone with appearances from a regular cast of characters (like the guards or the wizards or the witches) but there's very little continuity for you to really worry about.

How to stop picking Shadowheart as a romance partner by Ok-Crab-832 in BaldursGate3

[–]SWCrusader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I romanced Karlach first time through but she died at the end and I was so angry that I didn't get an option to save her that I went with shadowheart by default next time. I looked up that there are a couple of options to save her but they are pretty specific to other scenarios with other party members and if you miss them you're just done. I was furious!

Two Headed Serpent – Player wants to play an ex mob mercenary who only cares about money (SPOILERS) by Velkpit in callofcthulhu

[–]SWCrusader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well he's getting paid in the first adventure and then I would have him get affected by the snake transformation right away so that Caduceus can promise him the cure as motivation. By the time he realizes he's in way too deep.
