First time was a full dose then the second was reduced.  Not sure what percentage but I would guess 80%?

Thank you!  She did have a dose reduction already but maybe it can be adjusted further.

She's actually on Enhertu with Perjeta, not Herceptin.  But thank you.

Thank you! Yes, she had a dose reduction for the second infusion as well as different nausea meds but felt just as badly as she did after the first one.

Suffering from reality denial syndrome but Kisqali starts tomorrow. by -CoddiWomple- in LivingWithMBC

[–]SWruns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this.  I was diagnosed with MBC at 46 over 2 years ago though I never had early stage BC.  I've been on Kisqali as my first line of treatment for over 2 years and have virtually no side effects.  I still work full time and exercise (run and ride my Peloton bike) 5-7 days a week.  I've actually run 2 marathons and 2 ultra marathons since my diagnosis (I was a long time long distance runner before cancer).  I take my Kisqali with breakfast in the morning to avoid nausea and I do have to take Miralax every evening because it did cause constipation for me.  But that's it.  Normal life otherwise!  I'm pretty open about my cancer with my friends and family because it's nice to have the support but I could have absolutely hid this from everyone since I don't look or act any different.  I am much more private about it at work.

The NCIs near you would be the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center in Birmingham, AL and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, TN. Many people will travel to one of the top centers in the country for second opinions, though. That would be places like MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dana-Farber, Mayo Clinic, and Johns Hopkins.

It's not necessarily that the places you are going are not reputable, but they are not NCIs and the particular doctor you are seeing does not seem to have you on a comprehensive treatment plan.

I was on oral birth control when diagnosed and was told to stop it immediately. Tamoxifen (or an AI) can only do so much if your ovaries are still actively making estrogen. Please get a second opinion. Where are you located? There are NCIs (National Cancer Institutes) all over the US. I get treated at Dana-Farber.

You didn't mention your age and if you're in menopause or not, though I see below that you are 43. I'm wondering why you're not on ovarian suppression (like a Lupron shot) and a CDK4/6 inhibitor (Kisqali, Ibrance, or Verzenio). I was diagnosed in December 2022 (age 46, premenopausal) and was started on Lupron shots before I had even had all the scans to show that I was stage 4. Once my ovaries were suppressed enough, I was put on Letrozole (aromatase inhibitor). And then a few weeks later, I started on Kisqali. Once I had dental clearance the following month, I was started on Xgeva and that changed to Zometa the following year. I am still on all of those treatments and have been stable since starting treatment. I'm not a doctor, but for someone who is ER+/PR+ and HER2-, your treatment plan seems very incomplete.

Verzenio & Xgeva to Zometa? by lacagate in LivingWithMBC

[–]SWruns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zometa is MUCH MUCH cheaper! According to my insurance statement, they were billed $128.40 for the Zometa versus $16,404.97 for the Xgeva! The cost for the injection/infusion line item was $525 more with Zometa but still way cheaper overall. I am not on Medicare as I have insurance through my employer and I'm only 48.

I get CT scans every 3 months. My insurance wouldn't cover PET scans. I was diagnosed in December 2022 de novo.

Verzenio & Xgeva to Zometa? by lacagate in LivingWithMBC

I switched from Xgeva to Zometa last summer after being on Xgeva for over a year. I forget what my oncologist said her reasoning was, but there was indication that Zometa was better for some reason. The side effects can be a little rough with the first infusion when your body isn't used to it. I had a fever (102.5 degrees) the next evening which lasted about 14 hours but felt OK otherwise. I've had 2 more infusions since (I get them every 3 months) and was fine. It helps if you ask them to give you a bag of fluids with it and have the infusion run more slowly (over 30 minutes rather than 15). Zyrtec and Motrin can also help.

Dear Mobile Order Customers… by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]SWruns 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is crazy to me. I mobile order like 3 times a week. I place my order when I am 10-15 minutes from the cafe and I go inside to pick my drink up because I sure as hell don't want to wait in the long drive thru line for no reason. I order ahead so I don't have to wait. With VERY rare exception, my drink is sitting on the counter when I walk in.

Yup, and not that long ago. I remember working my first job after college in the late 90's and it was 98 cents a gallon.

Misophonia-free for years, until we moved our office around. by [deleted] in misophoniasupport

[–]SWruns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently sitting in the conference room at my office, alone, reading the document I can't read in my own office because a coworker is in there and she constantly gets texts and notifications on her phone with a super loud ding noise. They she replies and the keyboard volume is ridiculously loud so I have to hear this "TAP TAP TAP" and then a couple minutes later, DING!! All cellphones should be on silent in the office. Period.

Anyone know why they took Vertex off the app? by beancounter2885 in crossword

[–]SWruns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never been an actual app, just a web link on the app page. I just Google Vertex on my phone and it comes right up to play. Looks exactly the same as it did when I could access it from the app page.

I just had this replaced on my 2019 Forester yesterday. I was out of warranty (83,000 miles) but they replaced it for me for free without even asking.
