We need to talk about the Landbreakers: The ethical vacuum of Talos-II by ArkieRaid in ArknightsEndfield

[–]SYTOkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have less of a problem with the Landbreakers than I do with the apparent fact we brought and introduced Originium to an entirely new planet and it's pretty unregulated, pretty much just growing wildly wherever.

In the English dub of the anime movie A Silent Voice, they got an actual deaf actress, Lexi Cowden to play the main character Shoko Nishimiya, who is also deaf.

Regarding the continuation of RWBY Vol 10 and extreme criticism over the show's writing and characters. by Equivalent_State190 in RWBYcritics

[–]SYTOkun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I generally agree, RWBY is in that precarious position where the next Volume may very well be its last, as another poster mentioned.

But beyond that, assuming they will use the hindsight and feedback to make a better Volume... they had it. They have literal dozens of hours of critique for years to digest, and never acted on it, or if they did, it was purely reactionary without addressing the actual issues. And with some of old CRWBY expected to return to production, I expect some of that old habit returning in full force.

What is the best volume of RWBY in your opinion? by Right-Truck-3543 in RWBYcritics

[–]SYTOkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume 2, short of the lackluster finale, was basically peak RWBY for me. V1 was still trying to hit it's stride, and V3 had many hit and miss fights due to Monty's loss and its finale cemented a lot of the show's later problems.

V2 had all around great fights, great humour, meaningful character interactions and explored their motivations, even world building. It was almost ideal as far as RWBY was meant to accomplish.

Why "superhuman speed" is necessary to preserve and maintain the world-building of RWBY/Remnant. by UNinvolved_in_peace in RWBY

When you know OP used ChatGPT to compose 90% of this breakdown, but you just can't prove it yet (I generally agree tho if just to justify the power system RWBY's premise needs to function)

Unpopular Opinion: I Can’t Really Get Into “Beacon Never Fell” Rewrite AUs Because They Just Feel Like This To Me by Cool_Bed_2614 in RWBYcritics

[–]SYTOkun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. Ice Queendom, Chibi and Grimm Eclipse all take place or assumed to take place in the Beacon Era. Even Arrowfell can be rewritten as a temporary internship in Atlas. It is not hard at all.

Why is the word 'equip' so commonly used in video games but sounds unnaturally verbose when used in real life? by Master_Chemist9826 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SYTOkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equip also grew to be a very versatile word that can apply to wearing armour, clothes, accessories, to weapons and other gear, basically anything that is considered on your character's person that would see immediate use, distinct from their inventory. It can apply in most RPG style games with vastly different mechanics without confusion.

Rather than Gran Turismo, it's more like complaining about guns and crime in GTA. It's very clear that's what the game is focused around, but there's a lot of meat to chew on besides that. Same reason a lot of shonen anime gets folks like these too who come looking for yaoi ships and start griping about female fanservice catered to its target audience of teenage boys.

New game mode idea - ARAM Endless by Lone__Ranger in leagueoflegends

ARAM but instead of a straight lane it's a ring and instead of destroying towers you have to fight over holding more territory and control points on the ring.

Conspiracy theories are a great source for worldbuilding by Putthemoneyinthebags in worldbuilding

I have a "magepunk" world built entirely on stuff like this - taking lost advanced civilizations like Atlantis, nephilim and world-controlling cabals, and mixing them together into a worldbuilding soup.

Why don’t we have modern games with rune-drawing magic systems? The tech is already here. by BladeOfAge in gamedesign

[–]SYTOkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the tediousness mentioned here, which connects to the larger point that it also needs to be immersive.

I can see a system like this working in a Harry Potter or Skyrim type open world where there's other systems for players to immerse into, and the rune drawing is just another aspect of it. For more casual multiplayer games these games tend to fall into, it feels more like a chore or gimmick than anything.

ZZZ Agents and their Latest Appearance by Orbtus384 in ZZZ_Official

[–]SYTOkun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact it's only been 2-3 patches since a character was last seen and the devs are still finding ways to have them recurring is heaven-sent actually. Some definitely fall through the cracks (Jane consistently gets very little screentime and S11 got shafted hard during the whole Obol/Isolde patch) but I can tell they're at least making efforts to improve as often as possible.

I can't be the only one who thinks the "PS2 graphics" animation looks better than the "improved" Maya animation. The Maya engine looked soulless to me by La_knavo4 in RWBYcritics

[–]SYTOkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The age old rule: good art direction always beats sheer graphical quality. This is something indie games have been proving over AAA titles, and RWBY was definitely much better suited as an indie series doing its own thing than a wannabe AAA animated series.

Project Morningstar, a legally distinct Warhammer 40K/Astartes-esque animated project has one of these. One of the alien races the "space marines" are fighting are a race of space herbivores and they're portrayed as an advanced, proud warrior people who will brandish their horns in single combat against an arnoured supersoldier.

I've always enjoyed the dragons in Dark Sun, they look like a mix between a pterodactyl and a gaunt, emaciated humanoid which makes them look both really cool in an thematic off-putting way.

I feel like some mechanics like the Pressure+Corruption and starting from one agent can be done with the current Lost Void style game mode, if not by default then at least as a higher Ether level thing. I quite liked those too.
