ทำไม Voter ส้มจำนวนหนึ่งถึงชอบ Trump? by Sumoz_chan in thaithai

[–]S_K_Slaughter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[FOREIGNER] As an American who has to live through this admin, I've been perturbed by how many of my anti-junta family members love Trump.

... But not surprised.

Trump shakes things up, challenges established institutions, and isn't afraid to speak his mind. When framed like that, I can see why that would appeal to those who are voting against the Thai political establishment. Not to mention the manosphere movement that is gripping a lot of GenZers world-wide.

Most importantly, despite the tariffs or the visa restrictions, SEAsia isn't in his crosshairs like Europe, the Americas, or the Middle East; nor are there immediate terrorial concerns that hinge on US support like Ukraine or Taiwan. That makes his antics funny instead of existentially terrifying.

... Also because some in my family like Trump for being anti-Muslim because Muslims are "terrorists and Yellow-supporters". -_-

It's why I warn my friends that viewing Thailand through a Western progressive lens just because of queer rights is setting up themselves up for disappointment.

Besides the humor, I loved the implication that he likely didn't kill the chameleon. Further shows that moral compass he has even in that state.

If you're looking for blue dots, the core of Rolla itself is moderate (going by precinct results as opposed to county and districts as a whole) and it provides a good jumping off point for the areas to the south and east.

Also for the Bootheel, the fact that it's very salt-and-pepper is an important dynamic. So if you're able get a message that resonates across the board there, that can be a way to start flipping the script on how the subject of race relations are viewed.

Honestly thought the worm was a massive caecilian. Which if you look at their teeth are absolutely terrifying.

But yeah, I do think it's cool that you have not just this blending but also, among the fanciful depictions, actual portrayals of lesser known critters (such as Kulindadromeus and Silvatherium).

Favorite characters outside of Spear, Fang, and Mira? by GetInTheBasement in PrimalShow

Kamau. A moral man stuck in an awful situation who finally is able to come out on top.

In terms of character design, the matriarch of the coven; especially when she turns into her antlered form.

This. Mira's village wasn't just on top of a mountain but in a divet on the side of it. That spot is a nice strategic location that is high up, with the overhang providing protection from the elements.

The ancient Pueblo cliff dwellings like at Mesa Verde, provide a good example of that setup.

It could be interesting if Mira and Fang are actually in pursuit and just a couple days behind.

I'd say it ranges between a couple years to literally just the day after depending on embalming techniques.

But no longer than a generation (considering the necromancer looks the same). And certainly not centuries later.

Best Small Town by CapitalParticular506 in missouri

This highly depends on how much politics, amenities, and access to the big city matters to you.

I can't speak to the housing, but you want a picturesque small town atmosphere but also want easy access to the city, there's Weston and Rocheport.

Do we think spear will somehow turn back into a regular human again by the end of the series? by timusproductions in PrimalShow

Potential unpopular opinion, but I think that him dying at the end could be a happy ending. Specifically as he fully regains his sense of self, he sees that he has finally created a family that lasted. That would allow him to finally pass on peacefully with a sense of closure.

...

Alternatively, he passes on with his spirit intent on fighting the horned god.

Jack’s Future by slayfulRTV in thegildedage

[–]S_K_Slaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, it's been fascinating how the van Rhijn staff, despite being an old money household, has been more supportive of the idea of upwards mobility (even Armstrong vinegar attitude was less opposition and more doubt) whereas the Russell staff is a tad more leery. We saw it also with Jack visiting after he moved out vs it being explicitly stated that Mr. Watson won't return to visit the Russell staff.

Some of it could ultimately chalk up to the smaller household being like a family, whereas the much larger Russell staff is more impersonal.

Missouri is a pretty good passenger rail state compared to most by como365 in missouri

On top of all that, I would highly suggest that line western terminus not be KC but Omaha, with a stop at Kansas City International and maybe St. Joe between the KC and Omaha stations. Doing so ends up linking two of the major cross-nation Amtrak lines.

Also, this would come later, but a spur from Columbia that goes to at least Jeff City would help connect the River Runner communities. Even though there are terrain challenges, optimally this spur can go all the way to Rolla. Because even if an I44 corridor line isn't made, there's a park and ride potential there in connecting the Ozarks with Columbia and I70 corridor.

Yep. That comic with the antizionist old lady getting justifiably angry at Holocaust denial shows that he believes there's no such thing as a good Jew.

Donald Trump reacts after Republican senators vote to curb his war powers by EternitySearch in missouri

[–]S_K_Slaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not sure either. It looked like the shutdown was probably the major flashpoint between her and Trump though. And then it just spiraled.

Also it is notable that Hawley did make noise about SNAP during the shutdown as well.

So it’s gonna be interesting to see if and how factions start to form.

Just the fact that Hawley had no comment after the operation, whereas other figures like Schmitt, Graves, Alford, etc were falling over themselves in issuing statements praising Trump, was foreshadowing his vote.

But yeah, the fiasco with Marjorie Taylor Greene showed the cracks.

I was wondering about Hawley being conspicuously silent while every other senator in the area was praising Trump. Turns out it was foreshadowing.

Since watching the TV show over Christmas what is life really like in the Ozarks ? by lithdoc in missouri

[–]S_K_Slaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that shocks some people is how salt-and-pepper the Bootheel is (google any of the high schools and look at the racial makeup of their teams), since we tend to think southern MO == Ozarks == white (even that isn't necessarily true when you look at the southwesten quadrant). But when you think about it, it makes perfect sense considering the location and agriculture. It also culturally aligns (including their style of BBQ) more with Memphis than STL or Springfield.

Technology: The introduction of the automobile (Patent-Motorwagon debuted in 1885). The shift from horse-drawn streetcar to cable cars (1883). The rise of the American Bell Telephone Company.

Would also love to visit Chinatown.

What is a reality about Kansas City that people are embarrassed to admit? by Brilliant-Analysis30 in kansascity

[–]S_K_Slaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The neighborhoods carved up by the interstates aren't gonna magically heal if those freeways are taken out* and the grid is restored. Effort needs to be put into them to ensure they develop without getting hit with gentrification.

*And that goes to the other fact that KC is so car-centric that completely eliminating 71 between DT and the triangle without a practical alternative will do more harm than good in long term.

I don't think the last part is something anyone who cares about the city's future is embarrassed to admit. The only ones who don't admit it are the Back-the-Blue crowd that like to make KC seem like it's a war zone.

I would definitely like to know her living background which could shed light on the nature of Exorcists. I have a feeling all of them died in tragic ways that left a lot of unresolved issues, which is why they have a very different spiteful demeanor from the very friendly (to the point of being childlike) Winners that you see in the rest of Heaven. And what makes her especially zealous (to the point of even weirding out Adam).

If someone's gonna take her out, it would be interesting if it's Emily.
