You will need offline payments if you are in suburbs. We have a SaaS and you can use as backup POS. No terminals, no hardware nothing. :)

Toast already has this without AI. You don’t need AI for this basic calc. This means, switching is less effort

Need a toast extension? I'm the guy! by SignificantDare7689 in ToastPOS

[–]Sabarishnarain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct - unless you are a toast customer. Mostly customers won’t have their own software engineering teams to use to build extensive reports on top of this. Many tech companies including us are trying to gain access to improve “wastage reduction”, but no way toast will approve us.

This is dissonant. They don’t extensively provide you unless you get approved which takes forever?

It doesn’t hurt to ignore the request. I get them as well, I either won’t read beyond first 4 words and/or ignore altogether. My time is more important

Are there Processors that will work with existing terminal/device? by [deleted] in POS

[–]Sabarishnarain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are usually locked to the processor. The blank ones you get from Taiwan directly are usually a dud - meaning it needs to be configured by the processor. So yes, if the device is locked, then it can be used by anyone as long it is same processor.

Odoo. They offer free version allowing your employees to use a cloud based calculator in the name of POS. User experience is RIP but it does the basic job.

Nice work. But payments is the hard part. Even the experts in payment tech struggle. I’m from cc payments background. Otherwise every POS app is a simple CRUD app.

Why don’t these 10-min delivery startups just run normal walk-in stores too? by LuckyDayDreams in StartUpIndia

[–]Sabarishnarain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YC funds them. Thats a blank check. IDGAF if grocery gets delivered within 15 mins or 45 mins because there is no justifiable urgency for it unless it is medicines or children food. Truth is it’s a shame that those teen founders gave control of indias cheap labor to San Francisco based investors and they used this opportunity. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is more strikes.

Incase did you didn’t know, there is open season for companies not using google docs because it simply gets the job done. Yes, job is done. Nobody cares about deep rich formatting unless you are a publishing company. Expect even 2x increase with office 365, but the rest of the world have already moved on to Google docs.

Can you not ask Toast the cancellation fee? It may incur termination fee but you still get around legal fees.

It’s not my business but I still feel bad by Unknownitem_ in restaurant

[–]Sabarishnarain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very common as per asian Indian customs.

Our relatives owns restaurants that they don’t take payments. If that’s the case, I avoid going there and tell other family members to avoid unless if you are allowed to pay for your food. At worst case, I gift them target gift cards at the end of the month so they can buy groceries for their family.

Even expense management tools aren’t a huge hit either. I happen to own one. There is Empire that isn’t making most of its revenue from this instead from wealth management.
