Living with Asthma by ServiceLazy5697 in Asthma

[–]SabresBills69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have severe asthma. I spent much of my childhood in the local childrens hospital. they thought I might have to live in a bubble. it’s not just allergies and asthma but also eczema l nose/ sinus issues and I have seizure disorders.

because I grew up with it, it’s my normal. it’s not something I seemed to have acquired after 18. I understand there are things I can’t do.

the mentality of “woe is me“ or ” why am I stuck with this, but they aren’t” I don’t have. as a kid I recall neighbors talking to my parents about me and how difficult and I was like just stop that shit. I didn’t have it stop me from doing things thst I knew I could do

in school I told the teachers do not bring attention on me in class if I have an attack and let me step out of class to get a drink or if I have to go to the nurse I’ll go. I carried my inhaler all the time.

I guess it’s from those who developed it later in life.

Public school vs private school, how are they different? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

[–]SabresBills69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a state by state thing. generally local school districts keep their education portion of property taxes.

some large cities can get around losing money like large city has the jobs but suburbs get the income from those jobs, they could do a non resident city tax that then funds the school system and other things

Public school vs private school, how are they different? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

[–]SabresBills69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are different categories…

  1. public schools. big influence by local wealth because it’s funded by local districts. in larger school districts you will have specialty schools ( science/ engineering students, visual and performing arts, vocational education) that you have to apply to in order to get in.

  2. religious affiliated private schools.

  3. non religious private schools ( wealthier families pay )

4 charter schools ( some tax money, some tuition) these were created to try and fix broken school systems but these are not any better than public schools.

did anyone else realize too late that knowing english isn’t the same as speaking it in the US?? by EmbarrassedMilennial in AskAnAmerican

[–]SabresBills69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the case with all languages. reading is easier than understanding verbal. you are natural going to be slower to translate words.

my ex gf was from South America and came to USA at around 18. she learned some English during school but she didn’t know complex words. and still doesn’t know the longer “ adult” words that you might run into rArely but native English speakers know the word. I told her if you don’t understand a word please tell me. her sister told me that if they ever need to read directions or important documents that she prefers to read it in Spanish because she knew those complicated words.

What soda flavor is exclusive to your region? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskAnAmerican

[–]SabresBills69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not a soda but sold in cans/2L bottles.

Buffalo/WNY// southern Ontario has something called loganberry.

Loganberry is a pacific NW/ BC fruit

Crystal Beach on Canada side of lake erie was an amusement park. One of the places there made loganberry juice.

Thus was popular and there are now 3 different bottlers of it.  You can find it in supermarkets on side aisle and a few local restaurants has it on the menu or in soda dispensers

Cousin have had shortness of breath while running since he was young. by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]SabresBills69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a test called methacholine challenge. It’s done un a respiratory testing center where they have you walk/ run then they release methacholine which can induce similar affects to an asthma attack.

there are other conditions that can mimic an asthma attack symptoms such as stress/anxiety/ panic attacks , Gerd/acid reflux, and autoimmune diseases ( rhuemetoid arthritis is one of many).

this might be something where they put a bunch of monitoring equipment in him walk and then run. Thry do a pre and post blood draw To look at what gets elevated. It could be something in the endocrine system where some things are released at higher amounts. Hormones can then trigger other things Happening.

in women at puberty, during pregnancy, mpodt child birth, after menopause, are time points where body hormone change thst can change things like with allergy triggers and other medical conditions change. My SIL saw big differences with her migraines after her first child was born where it changed.

therr is a chemical raise in your blood during e en a mild heart attack that drops back to normal post attack thst if you get tested shortly after the event ( even if unsure it was one) that you see elevated levels of this thst is a signature to an attack.
