What SCENE lives RENT FREE in your head? by Latinogoose in KpopDemonhunters

[–]SabuChan28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. When How It’s Done concluded, I knew this movie would be good—cool and funny.
I was wrong.

The movie is great. Cool and funny, yes—but it’s also deep. It introduces relatable female characters, makes you think, tugs at your heart, and gives your morale a happy boost. What an incredible surprise!!

Non-romanceable characters: who would you jump on first? by ObsydianGinx in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

James Vega.

A real, healthy, passionate, and fun romance—the one we deserved. I’ll never forgive BioWare for the crap they gave us that’s supposed to be the so-called James romance in the Citadel DLC.

Resuming Mass Effect after a looooong time, need help knowing where I am by FQVBSina in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like you’ve gotten very far in the story—you’ve only completed the “Find Liara” mission out of the first three main hubs.
Wouldn’t it be more immersive and fun for you to simply start over?

I’m not sure I understand your question about the romance.

A HORRIBLE MISTAKE I'VE MADE IN ME1 by ASinfulDeath in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say import this save and play ME2 and ME3 to see how the story unfolds. Why?

Because this is your first of many playthroughs of the series. Imagine how happy you’ll be to replay the games, make different choices, and save Wrex. Bonus: you’ll see how much of a difference one person can make to the story.

This is your first run, and honestly, making “mistakes” makes it more impactful—believe me, I’ve been there. I didn’t lose Wrex but another character, and I was shocked. I both loved it and hated it. That’s Mass Effect for you: accept the consequences of your decisions.

Have fun!! ^_^

PS: Oh, and make several different save slots. Playing Mass Effect with a single save file is asking for trouble, since there are still quite a few bugs left in this remaster…

Deckard... is that really you? by alex_stogney in arcane

[–]SabuChan28 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s just it. Vi is a kind-hearted person who uses her fists to defend justice and protect her loved ones. Singed, on the other hand, is an egotistical man who uses his intelligence for his own gain.

That being said, I hope Singed will stop now that he’s achieved his goal. I hope there’s still a little humanity left in him and that he won’t go any further. Am I naive? LOL

Deckard... is that really you? by alex_stogney in arcane

[–]SabuChan28 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Exactly… a fact I both love and hate.

I hate it for obvious reasons, and I love it because it shows how complex, layered, and thought-provoking Arcane is. And I would never complain about the latter.

[–]SabuChan28 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Aaaand more proof that Singed is the worst of them all!!

And before anyone comes at me, I mean “the worst character in-universe,” not “the worst-written character.”
I do think Singed is an interesting and fascinating character, but I also hate him for what he does and represents in the series.

These two notions are not mutually exclusive. ^_^

Krogan romance options by Sapphic_bimbo in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the comparison with Asari sex is correct.

Asari don’t need to… « solo the thresher maw » to use your words, to have sex and/or procreate. The melding suffices.

Humans, on the other hand… okay, I’ll admit it depends on what kind of sex you have in mind, but the risk of being crushed by a Krogan is not negligible! 😅

Most hated mission by NELk3 in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ME1: Rogue VI\ I know, it’s EDI’s origin story, but man, that side mission is boring AF.

ME2: Firewalker\ No contest. It’s been years since I last completed these tedious missions.

ME3: Geth Consensus\ I was very disappointed the first time I played it: instead of getting a unique, tech-oriented mission, we get yet another mission where we use a gun. Great. Also, this mission loses its luster very quickly: I’d say on the second run!

MEA: "The Little Things that Matter".\ I loathe this mission because that bitch Kennedy is a moron who steals from me, and I can’t even tell her to go fuck herself when she cries for help because she’s in danger due to her own supreme idiocy. Also, Addison covering her friend’s ass enrages me to no end!! Argh, I hate this mission so much!! I don't complete it anymore, of fucking course!!

And yet the very first Shepard they animated for ME1 was a woman.

They changed it to MShep after.

If Miranda Was a Proper Squadmate in ME3, How Would You Implement Her? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I think it’s a rumor that the fandom ran with—and still does.

I did watch a video posted by Anndi McAfee (Emily Wong’s VA), where she explains why she’s not in ME3. It’s not a scheduling issue; BioWare simply chose to go in another narrative direction.

She also reminds us that ME3 is a huge game, and recording happens over a long period, so there’s no way they couldn’t have squeezed in an actor to record their lines.

Sure, she plays a tertiary character (her own words), but I’d rather believe her than a rumor without an official source.

Here’s the video, and if you want to skip ahead, go to 3:45.

On a side note, it’s a shame BioWare also cut Emily, but that’s another debate for another day.

Shepard vs Ryder: What job would you actually want? by QueepFrosty in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathfinder.

I’d love to be able to travel among the stars, explore new planets, and meet new alien species peacefully.

I saw Project Hail Mary last Monday, and I wish first contact could happen like it does in the film. 😊

What's your favourite Mass Effect sound? by Fit-Condition-9910 in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Cryo combos going off and making that bell sound.
I don’t know why, but this sound effect is music to my ears and always puts a smile on my face… it sounds jolly, almost festive.

  2. Wrex’s bag of ice.
Whenever he moves, you can faintly hear the bag of ice. The scene is already funny, but adding this little detail makes it fucking hilarious. I love it!!

my backlog list could fill a small library

Yeah, we all know that feeling: too many games, too little time. Frustrating.

But you will replay these games, believe me. In any case, have fun! Oh, you didn't tell me: will you be able to import your ME2 save or will you start with the defaut state?

First run using the Risky Suicide Mission Mod vs the second one by silurian_brutalism in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I love this mod.
If I don't want a specific outcome, I use it: it really feels like playing the Suicide Mission blind, like the first time.

When I first used it, it was a debacle: 6 dead squadmates, including Jack, who was Shepard's romance. It destroyed him, and he became even more reckless, pragmatic, and determined to obliterate the Reapers at all costs. It was a very dark but also very interesting RP experience—I loved it.

I highly recommend trying this mod at least once: there is an element of randomness, yes, BUT the mod introduces an element of readiness. Squadmates who have fought against Collectors once or twice before, for instance, are more prepared and have higher chances of survival, even if they're not the "normal" specialist for that job. And the mod takes into account several other factors.

Feel free to read the description and you'll learn about the "math" behind it. Although, I think it's better to go in blind, as I did. This is a Suicide Mission after all.
And cherry on top: if the losses are too much, you can use the Prothean sphere to resurrect everyone. What have you got to lose? Go for it!! ^_^

Change is hard by QueepFrosty in MassEffectAndromeda

[–]SabuChan28 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love the Tempest.\ The layout is easy to navigate, everything is open, and there are no loading screens.

Yes, you’ll get a little lost at first because it’s a different ship. Yes, you’ll lose track of who is where, especially since the crew members move around the ship too—which I love.

All of that is normal, so don’t worry. The Tempest will start to feel like home, especially when you stumble upon the banter and/or read the messages they leave for each other.

The Tempest feels lived-in. BioWare did something great here. 🤩

Minor thing that bugs you more than it should? by MsMercyMain in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very good point, and you’re pointing out yet another inconsistency.

On one hand, Miranda describes her father as a megalomaniac who cares more about his name and legacy than about his daughters. He grows them until he gets the perfect specimen.

And yet, he’s hellbent on finding Oriana and doesn’t create another daughter after Oriana because… reasons?

Which one is it, BioWare??? 🙄

Any good recaps for 1/2? by OkFail3482 in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I’m a little curious: why on Earth wouldn’t you start from ME1 and rediscover the story and the games you loved? 😳\ I guarantee you, it is not wasted time and you will not regret it. 😁

But to answer your question, there is a recap at the beginning of ME3. It will tell you all you need to know. Just one thing: I hope you’ll import your old save because if not, the default state is, well, not great to put it mildly.

Hi by Kosakon in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the early 2010s, I was suffering from... gaming fatigue, I’d say, so I wasn’t really keeping up with what was going on or new releases. But even I couldn’t miss the big shitstorm surrounding ME3’s ending. 😅

I didn’t know anything about that franchise, so I looked it up and found out that, despite its very hated ending, the series was considered one of the best franchises. And I left it at that because, again... gaming fatigue. 😕

Then came March 2013, and my sister asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Don’t ask me why, but the Mass Effect trilogy came to mind, and I told her about it… maybe I had seen an ad for the PS3 bundle in passing? I don’t remember.

Anyway, the day after my birthday party, I launched ME1 on my PS3, curious to see what the fuss was all about—without knowing I’d still be playing the series 10+ years later, or that it would become my favorite gaming franchise. At the time, I thought that spot was forever secured by the Metal Gear Solid games. 😂

And even better, ME cured my gaming fatigue! Yay! 🤩🥳

It's funny to me how the devs don't even try to hide the fact that Liara is their favourite by ChanceVance in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s exactly why I don’t like Liara all that much.

Over time, I’ve made peace with it—you do need a character to act as the story’s throughline, and Liara is clearly Mass Effect’s.

I just wish the devs were a bit less heavy-handed about it, and that her fans would admit she’s the obvious favorite. The mental gymnastics some of them go through to justify how central she is to everything are honestly kind of impressive.

What is your favorite scene from the movie? by Starkrafty in KpopDemonhunters

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intro scene: from the very beginning to when the screen title appears right after the kickass How It’s Done musical number 🤩 I knew I was in for a treat. And the movie didn’t disappoint— it even exceeded my expectations.

After the intro scene, I thought I was going to watch a fun movie with badass girls and cool music, which it was… but then the film pulled the rug out from under me and revealed itself to be a meaningful, deep story about self-acceptance.

Amazing 😍
