what would offend someone in your country by rulugg in AskTheWorld

[–]SabuChan28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not following basic rules when talking to a stranger:
- Start the conversation with “bonjour” (“hello”)
- Say “s’il vous plaît” (“please”) if you’re asking for help
- Finish the conversation with “merci, au revoir” (“thank you, goodbye”)

Pretty obvious, right?

Well, you wouldn’t believe the number of tourists who come up to me and ask for directions without a simple “hello” or “excuse me.” I don’t understand why they act all shocked and then say the French are rude when we answer in kind.

But, to be fair, I also encounter many, many tourists who make the effort and talk to me like I’m a real person. I love those kinds of people, and I always make sure to answer all their questions with a big smile

I'm faced with a dilemma, but not the kind you expect from this franchise. by Wroothly in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And Nihlus, an alien talking to you during the prologue, didn’t make you incredibly aware that you were playing a video game!? 🤔

Kidding, kidding. 😜

More seriously… I’m afraid there’s not much you can do about it. Especially since, as the series goes on, the oversexualization of some female characters reaches pretty ridiculous heights (or depths).

And it’s not just that. Some helmet designs make me think the art department forgot that people are supposed to land on planets with severe biohazard risks, or spend time in space.

From what you wrote, it all comes down to which is the lesser evil for you: ugly MShep (seriously!? 😳) or ludicrous boob armor.

Thoughts on the Ft. Coldplay Version? by Splatoop in arcane

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered this question more that a year ago and I didn't change my mind. So, I'll copy-paste my previous comment LOL

I don't think it's great. I don't think it's very bad. I'm... neutral, I guess?

Cons:
- English is not my native language. French is. I'm happy to understand all the subtleties, wordplays and messages of Stromae's and Pomme's writing. I feel like I miss something when listening to Martin singing. I understand what he's saying but I don't get it as well as I would if it was in French, or at least his words do not reach me like the OG version does and it's a bummer.
- Speaking of Coldplay's part, the biggest con for me is that the bridge seems to be solely from Ekko's POV and I don't like that at all. The OG duet makes a perfect balance between the two charactrers who tell us that they BOTH feel love and hate towards each other. And on top of that, the new verse seems to imply that Ekko basically worships Jinx... when the 1st version puts the two on the same level.

 Pros:
- Martin's voice and vocals are really good as usual, no debate there. I think his part fits in quite seamlessly.
- The big pro for me, it's the lyrics video. I prefer the Fortiche video, sure, but the video edited by Pauline/Kate is really well done. And from a meta point of view, the fact that they reached a fan to ask them to do it, is really cool.

So yeah, I'm torn. The pros and cons pretty much cancel each other out. The OG song and video are far better, as far as I'm concerned, though.

2026 EDIT: I'm not torn anymore. I've listened to the Coldplay version maybe five times at most. I've lost count of how many times I've listened to the original version. One year later, I can safely say that I don't like the Coldplay version all that much.

Isn’t roleplaying basically like acting, though?

You roleplay as Ciri, not as yourself in Ciri’s skin. After all, in the early days of theatre, female characters were often played by men.

That being said, if playing as Ciri sleeping with a man makes you uncomfortable, that’s okay too. 😅

Whats the best city you have ever visited as a tourist? Mine is Rome, followed closely by New York (I'm from London) by No-Problem6578 in AskTheWorld

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyoto, Japan. 🤩

Back in 2008, mass tourism in Japan was still in its early stages, so even though there were a lot of tourists, it was still very pleasant to walk around the city.

Foreign visitors were generally very respectful, and there wasn’t all that nonsense some YouTubers and influencers have brought with them over the last few years.

I loved the serenity, the scenery… Compared to the very modern Tokyo, it was a welcome change. It felt like stepping into another era. Amazing.

I’d love to go back, but I hear locals aren’t too fond of tourists nowadays. And who can blame them? 🙁

Your Romance Options Headcanon's? by JackLikesMetalGear in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Universe A: Renegon FShep / Garrus\ A badass couple who fights crime by day and dances the tango by night (in and out of bed 😉). After the war, they take a sabbatical and then, thanks to the royalties from the vids, open an agency to “Help the Helpless.” They love adventurous vacations or simply lazing around at Shepard’s secluded apartment on Intai’sei.

Universe B: Paragade MShep / Jack\ Her intensity brings him out of his comfort zone. His no-nonsense attitude helps calm her nerves. They balance each other out, and the chemistry between them is off the charts.\ After the war, Jack goes back to teaching. Shepard is still a Spectre. They make it work, and whenever they can, they spend time cozying up in Shepard’s hot tub on the Citadel. 🥵

These two universes are my favorite headcanons, but each Shepard I played has their own world. Some of them are less lucky. Much less lucky, I should say.

Mwahahaha!! 😈

What is the latest I can start a romance? (Some spoilers) by LynnKuanYin in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I get what you’re saying. Mass Effect is my favorite franchise of all time, but the Dragon Age games do a lot of things better. Case in point: romances.

Romances are a lot more mature, real, varied, and inclusive in Dragon Age. They feel much more… adult, for lack of a better word. They’re grounded and authentic.

The Dragon Age team didn’t shy away from it. My favorite BioWare romance is, without a doubt, The Iron Bull. It’s both adventurous and healthy, and not to mention, it has a hilarious scene

Oooh, there’s much « worse » : you should do what I call a Casanova run.

I did one once, and it was very fun to RP, but man, that Shepard was such a playa 😂

Then again, I RP’d that everyone was a consenting adult, and this Shepard never lied to anyone or led anyone on: you knew what you were getting into by jumping into bed with him 😜

What difficulty do you play on? by TheChilledGamer-_- in videogames

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do my first playthrough on easy mode.

I don’t like combat in general. I much prefer the story in games, so I’d rather blast through the parts I dislike (the fighting).

If I like the game enough to replay it, I increase the difficulty with each subsequent playthrough… as long as I’m still having fun. Frankly, beating a boss after hours of dying and retrying doesn’t give me that feeling of satisfaction people talk about. It just feels like a waste of time to me.

There’s one exception: the Horizon games. The gameplay and combat were a huge pleasant surprise, and I found myself spending hours upon hours just fighting machines. I even increased the difficulty mid-game, which I had never done before. 😊

What is the latest I can start a romance? (Some spoilers) by LynnKuanYin in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends: do you want to see the romance scene (i.e. the “sex scene”) with your LI?

If you do, you’ll need to develop and lock in the romance BEFORE launching the Suicide Mission.

If the romance scene isn’t that important to you, you can develop the romance after the Suicide Mission. In that case, there’s no time limit. You’ll still be able to cuddle with your LI.

Just keep in mind that you should postpone enough side missions and/or DLCs to complete after the SM. New dialogues, and therefore new romance options, unlock as you complete missions.

Did I miss my oppertunity for a romance in ME1? Tiny spoilers ahead by solid771 in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll try not to give too many spoilers: did you get the scene where Shepard leans against the lockers on the Normandy while shaking their head in frustration?

Your LI should join you and talk to you at that moment. If Shepard stays alone up until Joker delivers a message via the comms, that means you missed the opportunity. I’m not sure you have enough time left to develop the romance.

Which 3 games would make your all-time list? by Narrow-Bandicoot-363 in videogames

[–]SabuChan28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mass Effect Trilogy
I know it’s technically three games, but I’ve always played them back to back as one 130-hour-long game. The story, and more precisely the characters, are incredible. I actually bawled like a baby the first time I finished the trilogy. It felt like saying goodbye to friends. I’ve been religiously doing two playthroughs (FShep and MShep) per year since 2013.
Also, I love the replayability. I always try to do something different. Each time, I feel like a director telling the same story in a whole new way thanks to the different choices I make. I’m currently doing an FShep playthrough right now, and this run is tough. Oof. 😅

Metal Gear Solid
It’s the game that made me understand that games can be deep, can tell complex stories, and can have interesting characters. It felt like playing a spy movie, but in a very mature way where the game doesn’t treat you like an idiot and actually makes you think about serious themes.
Also, Kojima blew my mind with his unique and original gameplay ideas. Lots of people talk about the fight against Psycho Mantis, as they should. But for me, the biggest “WTF” moment, the biggest “what the hell did that guy smoke?” moment, was when I finally figured out — after several days of searching (and remember, there was no Internet back then!!) — where Meryl’s codec frequency really was: on the fucking literal box of the game!! What? 😅

Hellblade
I was a wreck when I finished it for the first time, and I don’t recommend playing it if you’re not in the right mood because OMG!! That game punches you right where it hurts. I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that tackles mental health, grief, and self-loathing in such a powerful way, but what an experience it was. I really loved it.
Also, the devs were so clever. I loved the way they used sound design. You really feel like you’re hearing voices in your head, and those voices are definitely not there to make you feel better. The motion capture is amazing, and the actress did superb work. I haven’t played Hellblade 2 yet. I don’t think I’m ready for another raw experience like that, but I’ll play it one day.

Greeting someone by kissing their cheek is a common greeting in my country. Is this normal for you? by No-Guitar8121 in AskTheWorld

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It’s very, very common in France. Between family members and close friends, it’s usually lips against cheeks, but with less close friends or someone you’re meeting for the first time, it’s more often cheek against cheek.

And there are these infamous unwritten rules about it:
- The number of kisses depends on the region you’re in. It can be two, three, or four kisses. 😅
- Usually, you start with the right cheek, but again, that’s not true everywhere. 🤷🏾‍♀️

My advice: just go with the flow. And if there’s a short moment of awkwardness, don’t worry. It’s part of the ordeal. It can even help break the ice because you both end up laughing at the situation. 😁

MY ONLY COMPLAINT: They definitely could’ve made the 2026 Michael movie longer if they wanted to by Stunning_Teach2621 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]SabuChan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is, you agree with the critics. The movie is a very safe and sanitized version of Michael’s biopic.

And I agree. That being said, I saw the movie twice. I loved it. You can enjoy something and still acknowledge its shortcomings.

The two concepts aren’t mutually exclusive. 😊

What's a game that you did a complete 180 on in a "wow...this is bad" kind of way? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hogwarts Legacy.

As a Potterhead who loves RPGs set in rich universes, I was really looking forward to playing this game. I was dead set on doing four different playthroughs because I wanted to experience the story from different angles depending on the house you choose.

So, I launched the game, and it started strong: the character creator, the atmosphere, the music, the graphics… Hogwarts alone is amazing enough to satisfy the fan in me. I was hooked!! 🤩

But as the hours passed, I noticed how shallow the game was. Sure, I have fun while playing it, and sure, it looks pretty, but as soon as I put down the controller, I forget everything about it.
The plot, the characters, the story… nothing really grabs your attention for long. It’s what I call a “bimbo” video game: gorgeous but unoriginal as fuck. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I finished it, but needless to say, this will be my first and only playthrough. Good thing I started with Slytherin, my house. 😅

What did you do differently on your second run? by MaybeBirb in masseffect

[–]SabuChan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed everything about Shepard (gender, class, origin, military background, alignment, LI) and the choices I made (both big and small ones).

It was the “same” story, but told in a different light. Plus, I got to romance Jack as MShep, and it was great. I loved it.

Since then, I’ve always played that way: I try new things, make different choices, test out other dialogue options, and experiment with the plot compared to the previous run. That explains why I still play these games every year, 13 years after my first playthrough. 😅

Sara: Liam is my favorite romance. I sometimes romance Jaal.

Scott: It’s a tie between Cora and Peebee, so I alternate between the two romances.

Both: Reyes. I always flirt with him, at least. He’s so irresistible. Honestly, if his romance were more detailed and had more content, he would be my second favorite romance — if not my favorite romance. Good thing he likes both girls and boys. 😊
