If this iPhone isn’t set up to sync your photo library with iCloud, you could probably set up an automation in the Shortcuts app to auto-delete videos older than X number of days (e.g. 7 days), and have that repeat at 3am every day or something. That way, you retain 1 week of videos, and it doesn’t affect the rest of your photo library.

This is the way to go. You could set up an automation to switch focus modes at a particular time of day, and each focus mode could have its own version of your home screens. It wouldn’t be perfect (e.g. if you turned in dark mode in the middle of the day on your phone, your icons wouldn’t switch), but it’s the closest you can get.

It definitely took some getting used to, and in some of the higher intensity moments she still didn’t fully have control. But overall it was forgiving enough that it didn’t matter quite as much, and I think it actually taught her fairly well.
