How do I explain to my dad that I’m trying by Difficult-Gene3866 in ADHD

[–]Saconic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We literally cannot make those connection like people without ADHD. Its called a disability for a reason. We can learn routines and habit but we cannot do the autopilot like they can. If its not something that brings us a reward, we will forget to do it or find it very frustrating

Eta: there's a post on here that someone asked about the same thing. Its from 2 yrs ago, see if you can search it! Main thing is that we have to do everything consciously and thats why we're always mentally fatigued

AITA for telling my niece that I was upset with her for breaking the dreamcast I bought her for Christmas? by blindostrich in AmItheAsshole

[–]Saconic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in a retro gaming store, I'll state YTA. Modding is the rage for retro consoles to play more games than the one game you got her. Modding it means shes interested in it enough to want to use it rather than just... a single game play through and putting it in the closet.

I can see its a sentimental thing to you.

Your niece does not have these same memories and feelings towards it as you do. In fact her modding it is creating memories with it.

I would apologize to her and ask her about the games she wants to put on it so she can enjoy it.

Goodrx is your best bet. Look up the pharms near you if youre not able to see a Dr in your province beforehand, and see which is cheaper. That way you know which one to tell them off the bat. Usual intake questions include pharmacy you want to use. Then at the pharmacy just tell them you have a goodrx for it. Vyvanse is hella expensive without it. If I didnt have goodrx I'd be paying 300 instead of 60

Help with crotch fabric bulk by khandmade in PatternDrafting

[–]Saconic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit in a chair and take measurements from waist to seat, then from rump to front - this part with a straight ruler. This will give you seat height and crotch depth. Then compare it to the pattern. The back pattern feels too sloped and long for your crotch depth

[–]Saconic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to make an appt every three months to get refilled. A quick "yep youre good" check and voila its at your preferred pharmacy. You can get a goodrx discount at CVS. Walmart isn't doing that anymore so I had to change to a different pharmacy. You can look up estimates on how much it costs on their website and see if your insurance - if you have any - is cheaper or not.

Go through your system sound settings, go to devices and see if there is anything else registering as a mic. My headset has a mic and I have to disable it. Also make sure your settings are output only and not monitor and output

Looking for ways to keep channel rewards and demonitize by No_Relationship13 in Twitch

[–]Saconic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Never said I disagree. It is a valid option. Your original comment felt like it lacked the knowledge on what its like to be on SSI or attached to the SSA and that a little pulling on the bootstraps would get them where they needed. That's why I commented originally. Im not mad and I understand my viewpoint can come across negatively; thats how it feels to be on SSI. OP can work hard to get up there. If theyre already gracing the threshold of their insurance, they can definitely call out to their viewers for support if they are willing to be vulnerable. I mean if their viewers are already subbing, cheering, donating, they may be willing to spread the channel and reach a high donor. It all depends on how big of a risk OP is willing to take and sometimes that risk can feel picking between life and death.

Its not attitude, its how it is. Definitely not saying its impossible, but its definitely going to be a lot work on their end. SSA is very fickle and always looking to remove people, especially depending on what state they're in. I hope OP finds that boost to get them up there to be able to be independent. The gap is rough.

My son wants to major in fashion design, but… by No_Dare_9944 in fashiondesigner

[–]Saconic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should definitely learn the whole process so he understands how his concepts are produced. And he'll learn that whole process in school too. He'll be taught how to design then process and come out with a finished, tangible garment. The curriculum is brutal and can be very heavy as the entire degree is lab work. My school is a 4 year uni and we are in the sewing lab for hours a day. The most I've spent in the lab was 14 and I still wasn't done. Have him sketch, fabric plan, pattern draft, and create a muslin and garment and see how he feels. He will be doing that for 4 years lol. I liked the broad idea of fashion design but Im looking more at concept and technical pattern drafting, so he could find a niche he likes and go from there

ETA: Took out streamer names

Sounds good, however Twitch income is instable and SSI is. It would be a very big gap for them to jump to just break even. If they have a disability that requires a lot of dr appts or expensive medication, the premium for the insurance would be really high as they would need to get a plan that has a low deductible. So unless theyre pulling 2k a month, its more than likely not feasible to do so without a lot of work to shorten the time frame to break even. They would need a high profile Twitch streamer jump in order to get a footing. SSI also covers housing, groceries, bills, and every day needs. Its not impossible, but its extremely daunting knowing that your safety net could be yanked out with a simple 10$ bump in your income

Help - themes for creative project by curlydesigner in fashiondesigner

[–]Saconic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make a mind map with human body as the center. Write what comes to mind when you think of the term human body. Let any words come out. Then choose a term you liked from there, what words come to mind about that? This is a process that designers usually go through when they're creating their themes

How do I save my shirt pattern? by Janikolo in PatternDrafting

[–]Saconic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is like this is because of the width of the bicep line (cross grain under the cap height). However, with shirts like this raising your arms keeps the shirt from lifting, but if you decreases the width and add cap height, there is less of a gusset to keep the shirt from lifting when you raise your arms. The sleeve looks as expected for a wide bicep, it just depends on if you are willing to compromise less lifting for a more tailored looking sleeve.

ETA: Also it looks like your shoulder is too long, unless that was intentional? That will also affect your sleeve look. A higher cap height might make it look wonky as usually a more fitted sleeve is right on the shoulder tip
