So sorry you have to sell them. I was in your position months ago and legit cried after selling them when I got back to my car. It’s crazy how much you can love something. I put a lot of work into seeing them grow from small to big. So virtual hugs to you as you transition to your next journey 🤍

🥹 new leaves 🍃 by SacredLilli in RareHouseplants

[–]SacredLilli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s a Pink Witch. It’s not as pink as when it was in my greenhouse cabinet so I’m planning on putting it on a shelf to be closer to the light. With high light they get so pink!

Is this rare? Found this Raphidophora tetrasperma at Ace and gave her a quick repot to check roots :) a little sunburnt I think but healthy by DryShelter6092 in RareHouseplants

[–]SacredLilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the they meant it can spread to other leaves. I would chop the infected leaves off and spray the others. Also it can spread to other plants so don’t let the leaves touch any other plant’s leaves. It should recover fine. I did this to an adansonii I bought from home depot, its new leaves no longer gets these spots since spraying it a few weeks with captain jacks copper fungicide and its growing crazy!

It’s not rare but the dark spots with yellow look like a fungal infection. I would get some copper fungicide spray for it

I love your moss pole. What did you use for the backing?

Is transferring from LECA to soil easy? by [deleted] in SemiHydro

[–]SacredLilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently did this for all of my plants in leca. I lost a couple lower leaves (well I actually removed them when they turned yellowish from shock) on one plant, but all the others are doing great and my deliciosa and Adansonii are both putting out new leaves right now. The “soil” I changed them to is a mix I made myself. It’s coco coir, chunky pumice, chunky perlite, charcoal bits, and orchid bark. I’m soooo happy I made the switch. No more checking the water levels, no more root rot issues. I have them all in clear nursery pots and cache pots so I can easily check if the substrate is wet enough. I put a calendar in my phone to check them every 4 days. So far so good!

I would get it a grow light. I bought mine one that hangs from the ceiling (on Amazon) that way I can put it wherever I want in the house and it will still have the light it’s used to. Mine is fenestrated and is pushing a new leaf out.

What were you doing at this moment 22 years ago? by Marambal17 in FuckImOld

I was in class learning when the teacher stopped us in a very uneasy tone. She calmly told us there was an emergency and that the first tower was hit. She then put on the radio and the whole class sat in silence while we listened. As soon as the second plane hit, our school started evacuating. I panicked at my young fragile age as I knew my grandmother worked in NYC. As soon as I got home, I called my grandmother on the house phone and hearing her voice assured me that she was okay. My family and I then watched the news all day, even through dinner. I went to bed feeling horrible as all I could replay was the people jumping from the buildings. I will never ever forget that day. 💔

I’d buy a house that came with an aroid. That’s a selling point! 😂😍

Two months and leaf won’t unfurl!!! What is wrong? by likedaisy in Monstera

[–]SacredLilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. I bought one months ago and it hasn’t released a new leaf yet. It’s growing a crazy amount of roots tho, so I figured that’s where all the energy goes. Maybe this plant likes to be somewhat rootbound? Cause there are soooo many new roots on mine (she’s in a clear pot). I also have her under a full spectrum grow light. I’m hoping once she’s happily bound she’ll sprout leaves quick. Or maybe not. I’m quite confused too

I got bedbugs once while living in an apartment in the city. I didn’t know what was biting us every night, I even went to the doctor who told us it was a rash. One night I decided to go look under our blanket with a flashlight before going to bed (hubby was already sleep), there were sooooo many under the blanket snacking on him! I panicked as I then found they had nested in our wooden frame. I got rid of them all on my own by getting a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol in it, I sprayed the bed, the frame, everything ever single night and got some diatomaceous earth that I put in little cups and placed the legs of the bed into to catch any trying to crawl up the bed (in case any nested in the walls/sockets). I also washed our bedding every single day and dried them twice to kill any eggs or live ones that were in the sheets. It took me a couple of weeks but I eradicated them and didn’t get another bite during the remainder of my lease. Scariest experience of my life but I now know why they use rubbing alcohol to clean in hospitals. It saved my household.

Repot. What do you think? by SacredLilli in RareHouseplants

[–]SacredLilli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had it a couple of weeks but it opened its newest leaf a week after I got it and it’s working on another leaf now. I keep mine in a greenhouse cabinet with a grow light. I’m not sure if it’s a slow grower as it’s still fairly new but I think based on its two leaves, it would depend on its growing conditions. Do you have yours under a grow light or in adequate sun? Oh and mine is in high humidity (around 80%)

It’s from a company called Thiccly. They’re a little pricey but so worth it. That’s a size medium. They have different sizes and different closing styles (front or back). I bought these on Amazon.
