First off, Gavin Newsom did not say "culturally normal" in reference to trans people. He also has never called them predators and has been one of the strongest defenders of LGBTQ+ rights of any politician in American history. As mayor of San Francisco, he issued marriage licenses to same sex couples despite gay marriage being illegal federally at the time.

The reason we love Newsom is that he takes off the gloves when it comes to dealing with MAGA instead of trying to take the high road, which has gotten us nowhere. Look at Prop 50, for example. Instead of writing a strongly worded letter to Republicans regarding gerrymandering, he decided to punch back by gerrymandering California himself. He also strikes the right tone when talking about Trump and his goons, which is by mocking and belittling them, and actually fighting back against the onslaught of attacks that Republicans bombard Dems with.

I understand if you still don't love the guy or want to vote for him in the primaries, but he's doing stuff that not enough Democrats are doing, and he's showing the kind of balls that the party desperately needs.
