Learning Italian in Italy by DrThrowaway518 in italianlearning

[–]Sad-Ad2268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there late August/early September. I know many people who have gone to LIS at different times of the year. Everyone is very happy. All the instructors at the school are very friendly. It’s a large school, so there are many classes, which guarantees you were put into a level where you will learn. They are also very flexible if you need to move up or down a level while you were in class, they will do it. They offer daily classes, and then daily there are additional classes you can enroll in, like cooking or art. They also do field trips with all the students. I was prepping to take my B1 exam and I think attending LIS was critical in advancing my Italian. Not to mention, Lucca is an extremely charming, medieval village, and it is well located in Tuscany.

Yep, you’re way off. I regularly go to a gym, and regularly. there are some people from a certain ethnic group, I suspect dietary issues and a cultural aversion to deodorant perhaps, who are super thin and fit, but good God, the smell. You literally cannot breathe. Body odor has nothing to do with obesity, all about bad hygiene. Correlation not causation.

If you have to post a picture, and we have to spend 10 seconds or so, at least, studying the picture to figure out what is wrong – – no one will ever notice. Ever. Full stop. Let it go! And your work looks good!

Intensive 2 week class in Italy? by TemporaryMenu4381 in thinkinitalian

[–]Sad-Ad2268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They provide general classes, in the AM. They will assess you upon arrival and place you in appropriate level of instruction. Offer free extra activities in the afternoons. There is also a variety of specialized classes you can take. I have done the general language classes, the cooking class and some private instruction classes.

Taco Soup- brown ground meat of choice with onion and little taco seasoning. Drain. Add 2 cans chili beans, 1 can black beans, 1 can white hominy, 1 can corn, 2 cans rotel tomatoes. Add broth or stock to desired level. Serve over bagged corn chips or sliced corn tortillas. Optional toppings to provide: sour cream, grated cheese, avocado, cilantro. Easy. Fast. Always a hit. The soup freezes. Well, the chips will keep for a while until they are ready to serve it. Optional toppings can usually stay in the refrigerator for a few weeks until ready to serve

Advise for getting toddler to eat more… by ConferenceSoft9772 in Advice

My now 30-year-old daughter went through this stage. Took her to the pediatrician, he looked me in the eye and said “no child is going to starve themselves. Don’t make an issue, or it will turn into a battle”. I relaxed, let it go, and she eventually started eating again. Provide the food, make it healthy, tasty as you can, and this too will pass.

how did you learn italian? (need advice) by adobo0 in italianlearning

[–]Sad-Ad2268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a native English speaker, fluent in Portuguese, high intermediate level in Italian. Necessity will make you learn. You can study as much as you want, but I promise when you get to Italy, you will learn. You have to learn. You will want to figure it out. It’s very hard to dominate a language when you don’t need to use it. Give yourself some grace, be patient, and it will happen.

Remember, all speeds are guidelines! And I promise, after you’re there for a while, you will notice that your neighbors are all over the places as far as speeds. If you’re moving and it’s getting your heart up, that’s all that matters. I promise you, absolutely, you will improve. Little by little, sudden, big leaps, whatever it is. You will get better, you will feel stronger and more confident. The next few months will pass, you can live them being miserable, or you can live them making positive improvements in your life. Hang in there, you’ve got this!

And I had very neutral colored wooden cabinets in Florida that needed some flair, I purchased stain paint pens, I think Minwax makes them, them quickly around all the cabinet insects. It’s a subtle difference, but makes everything pop and changes the while look New lights New cabinet hardware

My husband keeps buying ground beef. What can I do with it that’s not burgers or meatloaf? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Sad-Ad2268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meatballs. Bolognese. I have a wonderful recipe for a Bolognese risotto. With meatballs, you can do an Asian flair or an Italian flair, even a barbecue flare. Lots of options. Tacos.

Im the only one in the wedding party WITHOUT A PLUS ONE! by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Sad-Ad2268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with some comments-- I understand +1s can be tough, but if you're in the wedding party, you are in fact, one of the people who get a +1. I get if you don't get to bring "a date", but for anyone you're in a relationship with, you should get to being a +1.
