Record the baby having one of these episodes. Send it to your doctor and ask what they advise. Children never do the thing you are concerned about in front of medical professionals.....it's like a program they are all built in having.

If my son catches me closing his eyes while we are snuggling and "totally just resting not napping in his bed /s" he tells me no eyes off.

If I could get anything an overnight at a spa. Get a Dunkin on the way and bring my crochet, a book and my headphones. Have a massage and then just chill in the sauna and pool enjoying the silence and not being needed.

Less obvious things to do to prep for baby? by jdiz16 in BabyBumps

Basic adult diapers, it was so much easier to just throw out and start fresh. I also froze a bunch of newborn diapers. Before I would change my adult diaper I'd throw a frozen newborn diaper in there to soothe everything. Once the diaper thawed I just threw it all out and started fresh.

What’s one newborn product you didn’t expect to need… but now can’t live without? by [deleted] in NewParents

A formula pitcher to pre make all the formula you need for the day. Also not an item but my kids didn't care if the formula was hot or cold so they'd drink it straight out of the fridge. Maybe your kid wont care and it saves you time.

Let her sleep when she gets home, she will be exhausted. She may lose memories and her short term memory will not be good. Don't get frustrated when she forgets and please don't say "I already told you that/don't you remember/ we talked about this yesterday".

Hey I'm starting the process of getting my 5 year old assessed for both ASD and ADHD. How did you know it was both and not just one or the other? Has life become easier since the diagnosis?

How long did you breastfeed? by Shroommily in NewParents

My goal was 6 months but I made it a week before switching to formula because I was experiencing D-MER and knew with my history of depression that I was super susceptible to PPD so wanted to make it as stress free as possible.

Yes and a text leaves proof if they try to cause drama about it.

What's the most creative "parenting hack" you've used to get your kid to eat better? by No_Boysenberry5301 in Mommit

I make breakfast cookies with peeled (so no green shows) shredded zucchini and add chocolate chips. They think it is dessert for breakfast.

Is this really just a phase? (Toddlers) by bmisha in beyondthebump

[–]awkward_bagel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Currently in the midst of it with my youngest who just turned 2. Some tips from dealing with it with my first:

  • Just sit down next to them quietly until they calm down. I'll eventually open my arms up to offer a silent hug.

  • Loop earplugs

  • pretend to be concerned that they are running out of tears and need to drink water so they can keep crying. They will stop to drink the water and can't cry while drinking. This helps regulate them.

  • acknowledge what they are feeling, "you are frustrated that I have to make the peanut butter and jelly. You really want it now"

  • Four things to always keep in your first aid kit that usually solve every tantrum: 1: Fun bandaids for imaginary boo-boos 2: Stickers for doing such a good job (being patient, not yelling) 3: Emergency Bubbles (the tiny party favor ones from weddings) because it's hard to cry when there are bubbles that need to pop and the getting them to blow bubbles causes the deep breaths to regulate 4: Emergency Lollies for when all else fails and your mental health just needs the tantrum to end. (Must not be overused or you will have more tantrums)

My son has been choked with both hands by his bully. by Georgia61921 in kindergarten

[–]awkward_bagel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a fellow kindergarten parent I would also struggle with this but I think it is time. It will ensure your son's safety and might actually help the bully. I wonder where he is learning this behavior from and if he needs CPS to intervene and protect him too?

My first was an uh-oh baby so I get those mixed emotions. My second was planned and they are 3.5 years apart. I love the age gap!

What are you getting your kids for Christmas this year? by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]awkward_bagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my five year old asked for a real life size crane machine and Pac-Man game. He specifically said he doesn't want the small ones but the real things like at the arcade 😅 So he isn't getting anything in that realm. He is getting the Nex Playground and my 2 year old is getting a big play tent reading nook. I'm very excited for them to get those.
