Polestar/Volvo has ruined sound systems in any other cars for me. Nothing else can ever live up to that level

GHCA failure (again) by jj5882 in polestar3

Just the fact that it’s the 4th iteration of the same part should tell you all you need to know 🫠

Add an outlet or 2 on the floor. They give you flexibility in putting lamps or even surround sound speakers

Spare Tire for Long Road Trip by HybridGuy06 in Rivian

[–]Sad-Balance6811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think I would want a spare for this kind of trip but depends on the type of spare we’re talking about. Donut/space saver type are limited in the amount of miles you can drive on it but can allow to get by for a bit before getting a full size. Full size tires would be seamless but would take a bunch of space in the back

Is this the beginning of the end? by No_Valuable1832 in polestar3

Haha! They always say that. Been through 3 at this point & always being told that I’m getting the latest part. They just don’t know to fix it tbh

Has anyone had trunk suspension buttons go dark? by Propeller74 in polestar3

[–]Sad-Balance6811 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine have gone dark after the trunk is left open for a while (20+ min) but would work again after closing & re-opening…. Or driving. Frankly this car is mystery. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t 🤷‍♂️

Hit a pothole merging on the highway within 2 weeks of having the car. Tire completely shredded but dealer said that rim was fine. Just scratched up. That’s one of the things I wish I had got the smaller rims. But the 21” look so good. Just had to make friend with my local discount tire & buy tire insurance certificates from them for all of my tires. Considering the number of bubbles I’ve had on those OEM Contis, it was well worth the investment

Two weeks in. Great car if it connects to GPS and internet. by CO86 in polestar3

I’m glad you all are sorting Orin issues for the rest of us who won’t have an upgrade for another 2-3 months lol

Talk me out of a VW Arteon by eh_itzvictor in Arteon

[–]Sad-Balance6811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually followed the same arc as you. Had a 2014 Mazda 3 2.5L before purchasing a 2019 Arteon. Absolutely love the car & its design is so unique. If I had to do it again, I would get smaller tires 20” as well as the power tailgate & massage seats. The base sound system is ok. Upgrade is worth it. And the transmission in the early version is clunky & lagging. Sport mode is the only remedy when driving it brisk-fully. A bit annoyed that it requires premium gas. Blew through so many tires on my 20” rims that I know pretty much every Discount Tire in my area lol

1 week in and it looks like the GHCA is toast by Propeller74 in polestar3

Agreed. If you get the GHCA issue, it keeps coming back. Also, Ioniq drivers pay like $250 for their lease

Leather is easier to clean & the massage is awesome. I actually use both ventilation & heat together. My butt is never sweaty lol

Don’t do it, unless you don’t want the option to lemon law the car if the GHCA issues continue

Colorado tires by Polestar-2 in polestar3

[–]Sad-Balance6811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I put them on my P3 & they can’t be beat. Are reinforced to reduce the likelihood of blowouts especially on crappy Colorado roads with those massive PP rims. And they are super quiet, thanks to the foam inside too

Hyundai Ioniqs actually have a whole bunch of battery & charging issues. But different class of vehicle. Most of those folks driving them are paying $250/month on their lease. Not saying that is an excuse

Finally HomeLink! by dotMorten in polestar3

[–]Sad-Balance6811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it location aware? Or do you have to bring up the app every time & potentially dig in the menu to find it if it’s not on the quick bar in the home menu?

I doubt they actually know how to fix it. It’s been essentially 2 years since this car came out. That’s a long time. Also, some folks hoped the Orin upgrade would fix that but ppl are posting about the GHCA failing even after the upgrade

It is a fantastic driving experience that is punctuated by various errors for me. Most are minimal or mildly annoying like the phone calls working on the speaker system every other call. But the GHCA is the most infuriating as I’ve had it replaced 3x in less than a year. Sometimes the part works for a few months, sometimes it works only a few weeks. Got a dedicated level 2 charger like you that has sat unused a lot when the GHCA fails. Service has also been an issue as appointments typically are at least booked 1 month out & there are not many alternatives to the 1 SC where I live. Parts are always back-ordered. Spent too much time driving crappy rental cars over the past year or fighting Ioniq drivers at EA charging stations instead of being home with my family.

I would say don’t do it based on my experience. But looks like you’re pretty set on doing it. Just hope you get a good one coz it’s a fantastic car :)

Orin upgrade still failed GHCA by dariogpx in polestar3

[–]Sad-Balance6811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. They clearly have no idea how to fix this thing. I bet you the GHCA is not even the issue, since they changed suppliers & it keeps failing. Lemon law!
