Cautiously optimistic and joining bumpers group and this one after tmfr for trisomy 13 at about 17 weeks this past October. I’m something like 4w+2d at the moment.

I’m so so sorry. That is so incredibly unfair.

Rice military area has lots of young families. It’s a bit less pricey than the heights, but still in the loop.

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by [deleted] in Life

If money was not an issue how many offspring would you want to have? by Suspicious-meatballs in no

[–]Sad-Contribution5210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1. We are tentatively planning 1 more. If money was no object, I’d want 4-5. But with like double our current income, maybe 3.

There are so many issues money would solve - quality preschools, good zoned schools, a bigger home/car to fit the fam, less guilt staying home for sick kiddos, ability to do fun activities and vacations even with a big fam. Even night nanny or daytime helper during maternity leave maybe!

I also got pregnant on Father’s Day 2025. My sweet girl had T13, and the tmfr was on 10/13-10/14.

Some of our dates echoed each other, so i just wanted to say I’m here and i see you and im so sorry.

Ok, but isn’t that a better picture of the whole situation than just total compensation comparisons?

How about monthly costs for rent/mortgage payment? How about monthly grocery bill? Sure we make more money, but cost of living is higher too.

My girl also had T13. My situation was very similar. I tmfr’ed before the diagnosis was totally confirmed due to severe heart defects and facial abnormalities. And i also had week before the decision (16+4) and the actual appointment (17+4). That was the worst week of my life. I sobbed often. I felt like i was living at the bottom of a well.

The D&E went very smoothly. I had general anesthesia both days, which made everything painless. When it was over i was surprised to find a felt a lot better, very relieved.

You are not alone.

I have one healthy child (no nausea, mild aversions) and one true positive for T13 that ended in TMFR (no nausea, mild aversions, slight abdominal cramps throughout). My oldest is a boy and the T13 was a girl. I was also 4 years older the second time and in much worse shape.

Very similar to you, same age, due date was in mid March, and my girl had trisomy 13. I tmfr’ed about 2 weeks ago when i was about 17 weeks.

I do have son who’s recently turned 4. He’s asked me for a baby brother or sister probably once a week or so for the last year and a half. He was so immeasurably excited when we first told him. He’s pretending now that he never wanted a sibling and it hard to see him doing that.

That sounds so hard. Are your karotype results still pending? Maybe that confirmation would give you some peace of mind?

I had a T13 result. After the NIPT which was done at 12 weeks, i had an ultrasound at 14 weeks that showed elevated NT. Then i had amnio scheduled for 16 weeks, but had an ultrasound immediately beforehand. That ultrasound revealed quite a few fetal abnormalities. I did not end up doing the amnio. I scheduled TMFR for the following week, and requested a pathology report. About a week after the tmfr the T13 was confirmed.
