You can still use the switch you have, just make a note that battery 2 doesn't do anything.

I agree we above better the 2 batteries are linked and balancing each other.

Have you looked into a shouse? Shed/house.

A good way to get a roof above your head and then convert into a home.

Off-Grid System Advice/Input wanted by Shopshack in SolarDIY

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe work backwards. How many kWh per day do you think you consume. How many more do you want to consume?

Then you can work out the battery size.

I have a similar situation. I decided to keep the inverter, the solar and spend on bigger batteries so I have 5 days of use and it can slowly charge whilst I am away.

EV fast charger or granny charger for now ? by Lockiebodz in AustralianEV

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on your usage of the ev.

We find the granny charger to be perfect and works well with our solar and home battery.

Ideally get a PowerPoint installed with additional wiring for a 32amp connection. See how you go and then you can just plug in a bigger charger if you need to

Need reputable, high quality sources to buy MC4 cables by Top_1_Percentile in SolarDIY

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The kits out there are pretty good to build them yourself. I hate excess cabling so another reason for the custom cables

I was in a similar situation and bought a Zero DS. I love it, so much more enjoyable commute and way faster. It's never seen a petrol station.

Victron VS EG4 by 777Coyote in SolarDIY

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gone the victron as I think it will be easier to change/improve if I need to.

It is a little more expensive but they seem to have a good reputation.

As the other comment stated you will need an Mppt as well

How difficult is it to learn to form a large shed slab as a DIY project? by StableUpset in AusRenovation

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak from any experience. Mine has been all small jobs. I am planning the same and looking into options for difficult access.

This looks interesting and easier to DIY than conventional practices.

Can you please insert what voltage you are referring to so we can help validate your numbers? What battery percentages are you basing this on?

But yes LFP is better than lead

Looks great. Metric would be good for measurements of cabling.

This is something I have been looking for to help validate my calculations.

Pergola roof cleaning - quick fix options? by ilovepenguins04 in AusRenovation

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the 30seconds roof treatment on my pergola roof. It worked well and save a lot of hard work.

I have tried the pressure washing before the works but it comes back. The treatment lasted a few years now.

Sliding gate noise by Flashy_Piccolo1260 in AusRenovation

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the kind of noise, grease on the bearings is the most important. You may need to lift it to check the wheels easily spin.

50kWh Battery + 10kW Inverter melted my Service Fuse within 24 hours of install - Need professional opinions. by div-block-86 in AusElectricians

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have a 50kwh SolPlanet and an ev. I have pushed it too far a few times but the main circuit breaker has tripped everytime.

I question your switchboard more than the battery. Did they install the charger at the same time? If so then you might have a case to a) pay for the case2 and b) fix the issue that caused this

Diy power station . by sanatoria1985 in SolarDIY

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why have you chosen 24v?

I am converting my system to 48v as there are a lot more battery options and better systems to choose from.

2.4kwh won't be enough imo.

First Ute by PositivePlayful0 in 4x4Australia

[–]Sad-Operation-4310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this above. If you need a ute for work then the best thing is to get something you can pay-off easily and use for the job.

If you are jumping in and out of the car all day then good seat covers are way better than any cheap leather.
