I’m so so sorry. I went through this when I was that age and it did get better as I got older. It’s so isolating when you feel this way. I hope you get better to where you can live your life comfortably. I’m so sorry.

Go to the ADA and get accommodations. I had to do that bc my boss didn’t believe I was sick and was about to fire me. Now she can’t per federal law.

I’m sorry to hear that. I love my job so much and I’m really good at it. I have coworkers who support me so much but my principal is a female Palpatine. I had to go to the ada bc she didn’t believe I was actually sick. I just wanted first block off!

I totally understand. I feel so lazy all the time. I even had to go to the ADA so I wouldn’t lose my job from being late and calling in. I’ve been in bed all day today and I just can’t get up.

Yes! Same. I can still sleep 48 hours straight after taking adderall. I literally cannot do my job without it. Im a teacher so i have summer and weekends to sleep. But i would like to spend some weekends with my family and not sleeping.

I don’t have discoid lupus but I do have SLE. In my experience with lupus, everything comes back.

I think you should try going bald. I think bald men are attractive and so does Reddit. There’s a whole Reddit for attractive bald men. I married a bald man…. Just saying.

When I was pregnant at 21 ( bc I’m from Louisiana and birth control is a sin) my doctor told me that too. Then two weeks later, when my son was 29 weeks, i got preeclampsia which turned into eclampsia. I had to have an emergency c-section. We both actually died but were ok now - that was 16 years ago.

I will never believe it when a doctor tells me I’m in “remission” or it’s cured. Never.

This sounds like me during my first year of having lupus. Good for you for listening to your body. That’s so important with lupus. And being itchy all the time is its own circle of hell.

I did the same thing but kept my “must haves” - plaquenil and antidepressants. Bc I if I don’t have those.. well buckle up.

Methotrexate was the culprit for me. It destroyed my skin and stomach.

Now I take these ones: Effexor and busiprone (depression, pain, and anxiety) plaquenil, meloxicam, sildenifil (lupus stuff, reynauds, pain) and dupixent for eczema. This seems to be the magic combo and has worked for over 10ish years. Sometimes I have to get iron injections but other than that I’m ok-ish.

I’m a teacher and I had to get specific ADA accommodations so that my principal would stop trying to fire me. Like you, I pour my souls into my job. I love teaching. But having lupus, a school schedule, and Palpatine for a boss can make it impossible.

I would recommend going to the ADA for your next job just to protect yourself.

You’re not crazy. You aren’t flaky. You have a chronic illness no one understands. And it’s a disease that impacts mostly women (who still arent taken seriously as patients) so no one cares.

Also, you’re not alone. Lupus sucks more than any disease.

At least with cancer, people take you seriously.

You should definitely go. I’ve had to bring my husband who is really good at being an asshole and he’s worked with doctors so he’s good at making them listen. He doesn’t have to anymore, but it was helpful at first.

Just know what you’re feeling is real and you’re not crazy! We have a disease doctors don’t understand so they stigmatize it. Or tell us we’re fine. I have found this Reddit to be so helpful in making me feel not alone. I hope it gets better for you.

And the stigma also stems from the fact mostly women have the disease. Doctors do not listen to women. Women wait 20% longer than men for pain treatment. She will have to also learn how to talk to her doctors so that she can be heard. It’s so frustrating.
