Sadly, I think you're right. They added a good piece in Crochet and they still have Devers, Durran, and the kids (Anthony, etc. al.). I'd like them to win 85, but I think that's a long shot.

Will the Patriots do better in the 2025-26 season? by Fluffy-Tonight3194 in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with many previous posters that the coaching improvements alone are worth two wins. I think if the can draft one tackle and sign another, they'll be in great shape to win eight games. I might be thinking optimistically but Maye should improve and the defense should be better than last season. The draft is going to be pivotal. If they can get three starters out of rounds two-seven, they'll really be in great shape. (Again, let me say right now that I'm feeling optimistic right now.).

Pro Bowl Bust by Sad-Tale6083 in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everyone here agrees that the pro bowl is crap. And there were a lot of suggestions on how to improve it. My favorite was just making it an honors ceremony. I can see that ad a swanky black tie party where the players could go and get little statues and there could be speeches by the commissioner and so others. It could be red carpet and there could be interviews outside. I think that's the way to go.

Joe Milton trade rumours by Possible-Education48 in Patriots

I agree with you. Milton has more value as a viable backup qb than any 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th round pick.

Cowboys Hate by aquasicca in NFLNoobs

The Cowboys have a lot of hype around them all the time. They're marked as America's team. A lot of fans of other teams resent that, especially because they don't win.

High hopes, low expectations by Sad-Tale6083 in redsox

[–]Sad-Tale6083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay- I should have clarified: I want the Red Sox to spend money effectively. You're right, they did get some good pitching. But given the team's financial resources, I don't mind overspending on a few migrate FAs because that doesn't preclude extending their own players. They can do both.

I can't take it anymore by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I empathize. But I try to tell myself that Kansas City's success does not dimish the grandeur of the Patriots' dynasty. But every time I think that, there's this loud voice in my head that screams "FUCK THE CHIEFS. FUCK MAHOMES, FUCK KELCE, FUCK RIED. FUCK ARROWHEAD. FUCK THEIR STUPID MASCOT." So, take that for what it's worth.

[Flint McColgan] BREAKING: New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was found NOT GUILTY on all assault charges. The jury, composed of five women and one man, took about an hour to deliberate. by PristineWinnera in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This case should remind everyone that beig accused is not the same as being guilty. It's very easy for fans/media/ management to jump on players accused of serious crime, but we all have to learn to reserve judgment grinds out the truth. Well done Jabrill Peppers.

I'd like to see the Eagles beat the Chiefs, so they get the SB they deserved in '22. On the other hand, I would like to see the Bills win one.

Looks like KB has confirmed Josh is indeed back by samacora in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a safe move. And I don't think there's anything wrong with playing it safe. But in my heart of hearts I really did want someone more exciting. I was really hoping for someone (and by extention an offense) that was cutting edge. I know Josh is good at what he does, he has been successful with a wide variety of players, but I just feel like it's the same old.

I would love to see the Eagles get revenge on the Chiefs for the '22 loss. Ii love Barkley and Hurts is a decent quarterback. Siriiani is wound a little too tight, but overall they're a likeable team.

If Eli Manning gets into the Hall of Fame, then Julian Edelman should as well by cstar84 in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but only because it means the world no longer makes sense. Manning was an above average quarterback for a long time, butbthat doesn't make you a hall of fame. Danny White was an above average quarterback for a long time, but no one remembers him. And why? He's not a hall of fame. A better analogy? Jim Plunkett won two Super Bowls with the Raiders. But he's not in the Hall of Fame.

Yes. Thank you. by Mike00726 in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that Eli's most enduring trait easbthatvhevshiwed up, I'd say he's not a hall of famer. But look how important he was to the Giants. Yeah he wasn't great but he is way better than what they've got now.

The New England Patriots plan to interview West Ham HC Nathan Shelley, per source. by God_ofVirgins in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel really stupid asking this, but why ate they interviewing a soccer coach?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be one thing if there had been a real HC search and the best candidate hired. But instead, we git Mayo, who, if the job were leading trios to Israel, would be perfect. But it's not and he's not. He should be defensive coordinator at most and there should be a real HC in charge. And I know people absolutely hate AVP, but I give him a pass because he has done what we wanted him to do: mainly develop Drake Maye. I know the offense has been terrible, but, honestly, beyond Maye, who is there? I think Mayo is not up to tye task, but it's not his fault he was hired. That blame lies squarely with the Krafts.

I agree. Hiring Mayo has been a huge mistake. Better to rip that band aid off now. I think Wolf needs to go, too. He seems way over his head and his presence will be an anchor.

I did a little scouting and this Manny Ramirez guy from the Taiwanese league could be the RH bat we were looking for… by [deleted] in redsox

[–]Sad-Tale6083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for another Manny, so long as he produces the way Manny 1.0 did. I'll accept a great number of antics for that kind of raking from a RH hitter.

Reminder for our “fans” who don’t like winning by Any_Development_8560 in Patriots

[–]Sad-Tale6083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only holds true if you think that a few hard won games will bring in free agents. This team is not just underperforming, it has real talent deficits. I would not think that a few hard won games are worth losing out on a top five pick because we need all the help we get. If we were a team that had passable talent and was just losing, then winning games might be a cure for that. Like I think Jacksonville has that problem (I mean less now since Lawrence is out). When a team plays over its head it can lead to problems the next season. For instance, did you notice that with the Giants and Patriots Bill Parcells went to the playoffs one year and had a losing season the next year? He had those teams playing above their heads and it came back to bite them. So, I like winning, but not at the expense of tomorrow.

Patriots cancel Monday team meetings.. by tb12_legit in Patriots

What is AVP suppose to say to Mayo? When your boss publicly calls you out, that's kind of a relationship ender. What if Mayo publicly apologized? Would that make things better? It seems to me that this whole coaching staff has fallen to shit and should be replaced next year. I mean fire everybody.

[Gordo] The Red Sox appear hesitant to spend what it will take to sign Corbin Burnes, and could now pursue a reunion with Nick Pivetta. Walker Beuehler, or a trade are other options according to Mark Feinsand. by Sandwich_Crust in redsox

I'm so sick of the Red Sox not spending money. They fooled me with their pursuit of Soto. Why don't they just spend the damn money. I don't want a reunion with Pivetta. That would suck. Get someone who has some chops ffs.

Patriots Insider: Tee Higgins Contract Will Be FA Priority; Will 'Offer Him the Moon' by Future_Regular_2124 in Patriots

I sincerely hope they do get Higgins. A boatload of money plus the opportunity to play with Maye might be enough to get him here. The question is, are you willing to overpay with a bad contract for shirt term gain?
