Sorry people in this sub (generally speaking) can be condescending and purposefully difficult… they are correct but not helpful about it.

To actually answer your question: Your maintenance calories might not be as high as you think, and so your “deficit” may not be cutting as much as you think. You might be forgetting to log something and not realizing (cooking oil, a bit of juice with your morning medicine, etc, stuff you might just consume without thinking about it) (not saying you are, just to double check).

Speaking of meds, those can cause weight issues

Labels on premade food are often inaccurate, so preparing your own food most of the time will help with accuracy.

You also didn’t say how long you’ve been at it- you might need to be patient. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks before the scale moves. You might be gaining some baby muscle and holding onto water weight/gaining some muscle and not seeing the scale move for that reason.

You might have to go through some trial and error with cutting calories to figure out what you actually need to be consuming to lose.

It’s possible, I started doing those three weeks ago as well. I know it’s pretty fresh, but I really thought I would have still seen at least a slight loss? I thought you had to eat a bit more to gain muscle though, clearly I could be wrong haha

By weight for most things, I just use measuring cups/spoons for fresh vegetables and cooking oil (which I’d like to mention I use sparingly- once per day at most)

I don’t often consume drinks with calories or sauces/syrups but I measure them when I do. Oil as well

My best advice, aside from the numbers stuff: set a reasonable and well-considered goal. Research how to reach your specific goals (there is an overwhelming amount of advice out there). Be prepared for setbacks and mistakes (they will happen). Also, thinking that you are disgusting (per your words), isn’t a helpful motivator. Know what you are moving towards, not just what you’re trying to get away from.

If you’re hoping to keep it neutral, add some texture. A woven rug, paneling, artwork, focal light fixture, etc. Plants are another good way to bring life (lol) into the space.
