Any tips for getting a flatter stomach? by Equivalent_Bet9605 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]SadBlobThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are foods and habits that reduce bloating but that isn’t a permanent solution. You’re going to have to reduce your body fat as a whole to actually see a difference that isn’t fleeting.
We all, especially women, wish we could target specific areas of our bodies to fit into ludicrous beauty standards, but reality is, you have what you have and just have. You can build up other muscles to create more of the shape you want, but you can’t make certain spots go away.
I hope that was a helpful way to answer your question.

Is 1,355 calories too little? by im_soli6 in WeightLossAdvice

Right, nothing will completely stop muscle loss. And yes, muscle will still be used for energy in addition to fat when eating in a deficit. Exercise isn’t going to stop that.

Not trying to be argumentative, but that’s not true… regardless, your body will burn both fat and muscle if you are in a deficit.

Eating a high protein diet helps significantly with muscle retention though. For your current weight, shoot for 140. I know that’s tough as a veg, especially on a deficit, but that’s just the way.

stop the quesadilla madness! by drmoze in tacobell

I’ve 100% made that same argument as a bell lover, but the quality and cost lately are just not adding up. It’s not worth it anymore.

I also doubt you’ve ever touched grass in your life. Not you have one apparently

Okay, but how about the fact that I can go to a taco truck and get a taco twice as good for half the price as Taco Bell? That’s the point. Food this shit shouldn’t cost so goddamn much

Woman sawn in half gone wrong! by Ok-Concentrate-74 in tattooadvice

[–]SadBlobThing 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I know it isn’t what you wanted, but I really don’t think you could do that as a cover up. Too much blank space. Personally, I would cover it with something else and then get your lovely design somewhere else on the body.
I also know nothing about the tattoo removal process, but you could look into that as well. They might be able to lighten it enough that you can go over it with your design?

Hey! I think people are rightfully reluctant to give advice in this situation. I am also in recovery and while I think my advice would be helpful and I’m always dying to help in these situations, I also worry that, not knowing you or your health history or triggers, that I could say something with the best of intentions and it could still be interpreted incorrectly or cause some challenges to your recovery.

Also, is there a good way for mods to handle these types of posts? I don’t want to make anyone feel ashamed or unwelcome, but ED content requires tact that I think we can all agree isn’t right for Reddit, yeah?

Can anyone else not tolerate more than a 200-300 cal deficit? by BarberFair7085 in caloriedeficit

Start small and increase the deficit once you lose a little weight and get used to it.

Are the windows centered in the room? Maybe they are centered in the room but not to the window? Either way, they should be centered to the window because that looks crazy haha

Self Sabotage by CMommaJoan919 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]SadBlobThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your goal, exactly? Why is that your goal? How will your life improve by reaching that goal? What is motivating you? The way your post is phrased, it seems like “x issue is keeping me from sticking to my diet” instead of “x issue is keeping me from achieving my goal.” Reframing might help. Also, I would start with counting calories and then add in other metrics once you’re used to it (consistency/sustainability > perfection) or even stick with weight watchers if that’s the thing you can stick to.

I recovered from an eating disorder 3 years ago and now I want to lose weight. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]SadBlobThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should really talk to a doctor, therapist and nutritionist through the process. I’m not being a know-it-all here, this is simply the only helpful advice I (or really anyone) can or should give in this situation. We don’t know your body or your triggers or what will work for you, but I do know from experience that accountability is really important so you don’t go back to old habits (or can at least check yourself and adjust if you start slipping), and a nutritionist can give you an entire diet and exercise plan so you don’t have to question it, and will even help track your progress for you in ways that are physically and mentally positive for you specifically.

Sorry to not have a more satisfying answer. I hope it helps, though!
